We stayed in this hotel in 1989 and had always wanted to go back. We returned in September 2008 when we were traveling to the South of France. We stayed for one night to break our journey. The hotel had changed quite a lot. A large part of the original grounds and accommodation in the grounds had been sold off and it was much smaller. However this meant that our room was in the original part of the hotel which we did not stay in before. When we arrived (on a Sunday afternoon) there was a large family luncheon party taking place in the restaurant. The owner and chef Patrick Lapeyre and his wife greeted us very kindly and said we would be able to book a table in the restaurant for that evening. It turned out however that we were the only guests on that evening and Patrick cooked the most exquisite meal just for us! His food was out of this world and we were made to feel very special indeed. There is also an excellent wine cellar. The bedroom was quite traditional and very comfortable and the views from the window were just as we had remembered them overlooking the walnut trees. Patrick and his wife made our stay very special and since this was a trip down memory lane for us to go back there we were delighted with what we found!!
