Very little known by tourists (and even locals), but the botanical garden in Meise is a real jewel. It has free entry for students. It's quite far away from the city center of Brussels (I agree with those of previous reviewers who pointed at the confusion some of the tourists make with Le Botanique (which is indeed in the herat of Brussels, you can go there by metro - a nice green park surrounded by skyscrapers, formerly a botanical garden) and the REAL botanical garden in MEISE, the village just outside Brussels (you need to take a DeLijn bus from Gare du Nord Railway station) that hosts the national collections of plants and nice greenhouses and a caste in the middle of the garden..Especially worth when magnolias are in bloom (there's a marked Magnolia trail, they have more than 60 species), or when azaleas are blooming. There's a very nice Orangerie where a café is located, nearby a lake- very nice setting but the cafeteria is not open very often - what a pitty!
