My husband and I could not have chosen a better spot for our honeymoon. Located in the idyllic Burgundy countryside (think plush green landscapes with cows and meandering streams), this beautifully restored castle, complete with a moat, is the perfect location for a romantic getaway. Geese, chickens, peacocks and two sociable Labrador retrievers wander the grounds much of the day. Our room (La Bussiere), though small, was comfortable and featured lovely red and yellow toile curtains, French windows overlooking the front lawn, and an old oak armoire. The hotel’s location – near culinary treasures L’Esperance and Bernard Loiseau and the Cote d’Or wine route – is perfect for exploring Burgundy, though the nightly turndown service and individual goose down comforters make the idea of staying in bed all day inviting. Service was impeccable, and the food – which we enjoyed at the table d’hote with other hotel guests – was exceptional. We definitely will be returning soon.
