We had visited Mandawa in the morning and to be honest I found the poor state of the murals and buildings quite depressing and very sad. However the caretaker of one building suggested we come here to the museum and i am so glad we did. The outside of the museum has been fully repainted and it enables you to appreciate its former glory and how great the town must have been when all the buildings were recently painted. The building had been left as part of an educational foundation and was a school until relatively recently. Apparently some people do not think the paintings should be restored in this way but if they are not there will soon be nothing left. Our guide was brilliant, spoke excellent English and was easy to follow - the best guide we had on our month long trip. This would be a good place to strt one's visit to the region.
