Hi Barbara,

We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the Cave trip so much! We'd love to see you again soon, maybe for something a little different this time, one of our Adventure Tours perhaps? Just a thought.

Kind Regards

“Fantastic venue for an Adventure Caving trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

The caves are really worth a trip. The walk from Clapham is lovely, hundreds of bluebells at this time of year which made the hills pass more quickly! It's uphill on the way there but that gives you the bonus of going downhill almost all the way back.

There is a small shop in the entrance which sells hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams for reasonable prices. We had 45 minutes or so to wait and the staff members were all friendly, chatty and full of interesting knowledge - they kept us entertained despite the drizzle outside.

We didn't go on one of the usual guided tours, instead we had booked an Adventure Caving session with Clapham Adventure (http://claphamadventure.co.uk/ingleborough-cave-trip/) and it was fabulous. Jude took us through the show caves, giving us the detail you would normally get on a guided tour, and then we went 'off piste' into areas you wouldn't normally get to see. It was a fantastic experience and it was lovely to see so many features and have them explained to us, plus it helped me to conquer a real fear of confined spaces!

I would highly recommend a trip to the caves if you are in the area; if you fancy something extra, book an adventure caving trip in advance and see that little bit more.

Hi Lucy,

We're pleased to hear that you were well looked after on your visit to the Caves. Jude will be thrilled to hear your kind words about her Adventure Tours, and as the Adventure Tours are quite new and unheard of, if you could spread the word to your friends and family that would be even better!

We hope to see you back visiting us again soon!

Kind Regards

“Time to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Practice advice: allow more time for the place than the guided tour in the cave.

You will most likely want to enjoy the scenery of the walk to the cave. There are dedicated places to sit end have a break with a nice, lake and forest view. It can take an hour or more, all depends how often you would like to stop. Once you have seen the Ingleborough Cave you can’t miss the chance of seeing dramatic Gill Gorge which is easily accessible and it only takes about 15 minutes to get there. This landscape feature is, in a way, similar to Malham Cove, so if you have ever been there you can get the picture what it’s like, still very different! Now the stairs begin, pretty steep rocky ascent, but fairly easy, so do not panic, and not very long, leads you to the Gaping Gill (one of the deepest caves in England, mind you, winched descents are possible only certain days). Now you can either go back if tired or continue your walk to reach one of three peaks: Ingleborough - second highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales.

As to the Ingleborough Cave, there is a small gift shop, and ice-cream/coffee available too. The tour guide was sort of a likeable person, very knowledgeable, and friendly. Not only he was willing to answer all the questions but was interacting with visitors in such a way that made you wanting to stay longer and listen to the interesting way he was talking about caves, patient with people taking pictures, and made the whole tour very enjoyable.

“Something very different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

The only day out anything like caving, is caving. Its just something totally different and this cave is well worth a visit!

Even the walk to cave is exceptional, truly beautiful countryside.

The tour is an hour long, which we felt was still rushed. And I would presume this gets very popular in summer which could cause a problem. A couple on our tour brought a new born baby, which was a pain, baby crying plus echo of baby crying, not good! Leave your baby at home or in the womb. Also, the old in the group did have some problems bending in the lower sections.

At the end of our tour someone asked the guide the following question "We are religious and believe the world is only 5000 years old. Bearing this in mind, how do you explain this cave?" The guide thought about it for a few seconds and replied "You can't". We had a silent chuckle :)

It was also interesting to think, if this amazing cave is under your feet, what else is down there that we don't know and might never know about...

Hi Alex,

We're glad you enjoyed the trip. As you say, we're fortunate to be based in such a beautiful part of the country. We'd love to see you back again soon, perhaps at a quieter time of the season so that you can enjoy the benefits of our knowledgeable guides even more? Just a suggestion.

Thanks for your review.

Kind Regards
