Every year my Wife and I and a group of friends do the pilgrimage to Sodwana for a weekend of Scuba Diving, I love this part of South Africa and the reef and people working the resort are fantastic, normally I would grow tired of going to the same resort and would try a different location but I find each year that I long for the return to Sodwana Bay Lodge, I do strongly recommend that you get together at least a party of 6 and rent out one of the Lodges rather than the chalets but that is purely for the luxury side of things and if you are on a budget then the dive packages and 2 bed chalets are all you need (they often come with a meal package)
I love the last stretch of road leading to the lodge and as you turn in you just feel you are back at home. Couple of cautions, there has been some reported increases in petty theft so lock your valuables away at the Lodge. Also if you are doing a self catering and this is your first time down to Sods then you are best buying your supplies at home as the shop? in the town is a little dodgy. Also if you are on a dive package try and plan to stay an extra day and take a trip to Lake Sibaya and on to Nine Mile beach if you are in a 4 x 4 where there are braai facilities.
Very Busy during March/April depending on the Easter Weekends but evn though it is so busy you never feel cramped. Another good time to go is Late September/early October.
The 8,10 and 12 sleeper Lodges are something to Behold, very well kept and space!
