I was looking for the local Beefeater, and my Satnav took me to The Griffin. I'm glad it did. The food was excellent, and it seems to be a very nice place, very clean - and the toilets were spotless. The only problem is the staff. 'Indifferent' comes to mind. I don't know why this was - maybe because I wasn't 'local'. But I noticed so many other people waiting to be served additional drinks, bills etc. The staff never seem to look around if someone wants anything - chatting among themselves seemed to be the norm. But the food made up for this sad state of affairs for me. If the management 'encourage' the staff to be a little more friendly/attentive, I think this place could be granted five stars by me.
