“Adequate for a night or 2”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Reception staff are very helpful and knowledgable and all the staff are very friendly and polite (if a but useless in some cases).
Rooms are usually warm and smell clean though are starting to look at little worn on closer look.
I stay on business and we get a good rate but I would not be impressed paying full price.
Generally stay in rooms on 100 and 200 area. Walls between rooms are paper thin. You can hear chargers etc being plugged in and switched though I managed to watch BBC in my room and listen to ITV from next door...
When someone is on the phone in next room, its like they are sat in your room. No confidentially, as I listened to my neighbour call his wife and then his girlfriend. Room doors are heavy and springloaded (fire doors) and make a loud bang when allowed to close on their own. OK but not when people are coming back to rooms at 2-4am. Soft close doors.
Lighting in the rooms is poor. Bedside lamps and a standard lamp. Why cant you have a ceiling light just in case you actually want to be able to function and not sit in subdued lighting.
Sadly, in the run up to the festive season, party time, it was noisy and whilst the staff seemed powerless or disinterested in curtailing the next door 6+ in a room party at 3am, they did wipe my bar bill of a giddy £9.00 as a gesture. Nice but not really the point as I had stayed rather than getting up early to drive and arriving tired.
Beds are big and comfy and its all clean if a little tired.
Car park is huge yet there is always a struggle to find parking especially if you go out for the evening and return at 10pm.
Breakfast is a good selection though when I asked if they had haddock, salmon or kippers, was told as if id spoken Swahili that we only have mackerel. Not ideal for breakfast.
The poached eggs arrived after i had finished the breakfast that I decided to get when the eggs showed no signs of arriving and were luke warm and rock hard. It wasnt exactly busy but the staff did seem rather occupied cooing over a baby. Its all a bit rough in the breakfast room. Was shown to 3 dirty tables then when I asked if I could sit at a clean table was told it was for 4 people... there was me and a party of 6 in the entire place. Rules... Rules... Shame they didnt apply to the party in the room next to mine.

Room Tip: ASK for a quiet room. Not sure they have any.

Had a nice large and clean room. Others in our party had small rooms, just pot luck we think but makes a big difference to your stay. Breakfast was acceptable for a Sunday morning, not too busy. Concerned a few days before our stay was 'phoned to be told that due to a Christmas event main dinning room was not available. Didn't impact on us but if planning a meal wouldn't have been pleasant. Manchester airport planes do fly over the hotel.

Our second stay here. Not quite so impressed as before - here are the pros and cons:
Pros: Comfortable beds and pillows, bedroom nice and warm.
Marvellous swimming pool with impressive facilities - i.e. free towels, large changing rooms, hot showers, hair dryers, many mirrors and even a spin dryer!
Everywhere very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Very small bathroom. Could do with hanging hooks in the bedroom. Very noisy from overhead flights if the window is open, also noise from people up above during the night.
Breakfast looking rather tired - the cooked selection.

Room Tip: High floor to escape noise from people above. Maybe the 'Upper Deck' option, but I don't...

We've stayed here before and weren't impressed but we thought we'd give it another try as it is convenient for an event we were taking part in. We arrived early evening and went to reception. We were given a barrage of times and venues (for breakfast we think) but we couldn't hear a word the receptionist said. We went to our room only to find the keys didn't work. Went back to reception to be given another set, which also didn't work. A member of staff brought a third set of which one worked. We then went down to the pub and proceeded to wait 50 minutes for two burger and chips! We wouldn't have minded if they had been some kind of gourmet speciality but they weren't. We tried to charge them to the room but the room key didn't work. We ate and went back to our room, only to find the key didn't work again. We stayed three nights and had new keys everyday. The breakfast was mediocre, the sausages and bacon on the first morning were not fully cooked. Fortunately, on the second morning I found the fresh fruit and granola hidden away. The bed was a large king but it was a zip and link and the two halves of the bed weren't zipped together and they came apart during the night. I think this is evidence that the staff really don't care. I don't think we'll be staying here again.

Leisure club very good, nice pool with steam room, sauna and 3 jacuzzi s. Family changing rooms nice and clean. Room was average, the sofa bed very uncomfortable but the main bed great. Breakfast buffet ok, the berries were still frozen and lacked pain aux chocolate. Food is standard pub stuff but served nicely ( occasional board and slate) .
Incredible staff who went the extra mile and put balloons on the table and rustled up a birthday cake when they found out we were celebrating a birthday

Stayed there last weekend on a deal which included 2 nights B&B and an evening meal for the first night. The room was clean and the bed comfortable but we were glad to get into it on the first night as the electric room heater is controlled by the door key and the room was very cold when we entered and took quite a while to warm up.
Our visit was unfortunately spoiled by the meal on the first night. The restaurant was fully booked with pre -Christmas parties and we had to eat in an overspill area. This had two negative consequences. Firstly the service was very slow and we had to wait an hour between first and second courses. This was understandable in the light of the workload of the waiting and kitchen staff. However the room in which we ate the meal is an unheated conservatory. This is probably very pleasant in summertime but in December not a place to sit a long time to eat your meal. Portable electric heaters were eventually found after complaints by a number of diners - many of whom had resorted to wearing their outdoor clothing to keep warm. However we gave up on the dessert course and moved into the bar to thaw out.
On the positive side the food and breakfasts were very good. There was no quibble when we checked out and were refunded the value of the evening meal. The staff very friendly and tried to be helpful. However for future reference the management should realise that it is not a good idea to expect customers to have to endure almost 2 hours in the cold whilst waiting for and eating a meal.

The written directions we received to find this hotel were dreadful, and we were pretty stressed when we finally found it! However the check-in was efficient and pleasant. We were advised where to put our car for long term parking, and there was plenty of availability. We were pleased with our room which was spacious and contained everything we needed.
We did make use of the leisure facilities, but you do need to be careful with your timings as it seems to become an after-school club for local families between 4.00 and 6.00pm.
At check-in we were given a voucher for money off the evening meal in the restaurant. We ate there (the food was fine, though the service very slow), paid the bill and headed for bed. We slept well. The mattress was firm, the pillows good and the room dark. Our alarm call was 10 minutes early which was fine.
When we got to the reception to head for the airport our taxi was waiting for us, as was another bill for the meal we had eaten and paid for the previous night. I would advise you to keep all your receipts, as we got the feeling that the restaurant was not particularly well run, and we had to prove that we had paid before we could get in the taxi.
So, this hotel was fine for airport park and stay - better than others we have used, but with some glitches that the restaurant manager needs to address.
