“Budget Hotel could be a great place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2008

This 17th century coach house is on styal road manchester, minutes away from the airport, the prices are very reasonable, & the decor is very nice retaining some georgian features.
I would only reccomend it for a overnight airport stay.
The central heating is only on low & everyone felt the cold, the rooms were clean, but the beds especially the mattresses are at the end of their working life.
There are things that want taking care of, some plug sockets are loose, & windows that don't fully close.mould in the shower, dirt in the overhead shower fan.
The Hotel is in need of someone who knows how to cook, we were charged £7.95 each for a cheap frozen curry after being mis-lead by the owner as to what we were going to get & beer charged at £2.50 each then getting a tin of cheap carling lager each.

I would rather next time pay a bit more than stay here again, but if you happen to be on a tight budget it may be for you, double rooms were £45 & family room £68.
The rooms on the front are a little noisy due to a steady flow of traffic.

This is ideal for people looking for a friendly low cost place to stay near Manchester Airport. Just a few minutes from the airport, we found it clean and warm with a friendly welcome from the proprietors. A basic continental breakfast is included, full English also available. Our evening meal was simple but well presented and the service was fine. The room was warm and comfortable with all basic facilites in good order and clean. Recommended for travellers on a budget.

We stayed at the Pymgate Lodge Hotel for one night prior to flying out of Manchester. The location was excellent. The price was under 60GBP.
Breakfast was cereal.
After giving us our key, there was no interaction with the staff. The advertized dinner (even posted on the stairway) was not available and we had to walk about four blocks to a Beefeater.
Everything seemed quite clean.
The beds were terrible. I had to ask for a duvet to cover up the cords I could feel in the mattress.
I think I would recommend this hotel for a preflight stay only if the beds were changed.
When I called the staff directly from the states to get directions to the hotel, I was told to use Google and the postal code. The staff person did not know that there was a corner street that would have helped find the place.

Nice people, shame about the hotel. No-one had the slightest idea what was going on, room carpet not clean, light fittings loose, phone in the room didn't work, no soap for the handbasin, light above the handbasin broken, no staff around most of the time. I stayed here before, a few years ago, and it wasn't anything like this - whoever owns it need to spend some money on it and get their act together. Easily the worst run hotel either my partner or I have ever stayed in (and that includes hotels in the USSR in the late 1980s).

Stayed 2 nights in this warm and comfortable B&B, I would recommend it to anyone on a tight budget but wanting home comforts. The room was warm and cosy, en-suite facilities clean and tidy, tv and hot drinks. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10

The Pymgate Lodge is a find for travelers with early morning flights from Manchester Airport. It's only a five-minute ride to the airport and breakfast can be served as early as 7 a.m. When booking, make sure to reserve a room away from the road. Though the front room is attractive, it's also noisy. Dinner is served on most nights and there's also a Travel Inn with Beefeater restaurant two minutes away. Overall, far better value than the overpriced hotels at the airport.
