“A magical vacation destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

We returned to chateau Talaud for a 3rd visit with our last stay being 9 years ago. We are a family of 5 and had a guest of our children as well. Our children stayed in the yellow room and my husband and I in the red room. We returned after all these years and many other travels because Chateau Talaud is such a special place. Conny and Hein welcomed us back like family. The chateau is beautiful , spacious and you have a feeling of living in former times but with all the modern amenities and more. The breakfasts on the the grounds, and the pool were enjoyed by all. The dinner was spectacular as well. Conny helped us plan new destinations for the 4 days we spent in provence and all of her restaurant recommendations as well as the wine tastings were superb . We will surely return for a 4th visit!!

We never wanted to leave! We stayed for 4 nights with our 16 year old...the property is just spectacular. We stayed in the yellow room...it was huge, well decorated with an unbelievable bathroom. Connie was very relaxed and extremely helpful with all of our plans. We will definitely come back and rent a cottage for a week!!

In May we spent 4 nights in the Chambre Rouge at this splendid little "gentilhommiere" with its own vineyards, taking advantage of a special offer in which the breakfasts were included in the room rate in that period. Our suite had a huge and comfortable bed, a sitting room (which we hardly used) and a bathroom of grand proportions. The buffet breakfast was varied and generously served.

Connie was very welcoming and helfpul, being a fount of local knowledge and good restaurants in the area, and also helped us to find our next B&B. On one evening we "dined in" with our fellow guests, and enjoyed an interesting menu, agreeably accompanied by the Chateau's own wine (a fine red from 2009; produced by Connie's husband Hein), which we thought was very good.

We were unlucky enough to have been there when the Mistral was blowing, and therefore didn't get much opportunity to use the garden.

Was there anything we didn't like? Hardly anything, unless it was that the entrance to the property is very very discreetly marked on the main road, in rather small letters, and until we had learned exactly where it was, we overshot the entrance on several occasions, particularly at night. Moral: get a GPS before you come here!

Thanks for your review; we enjoyed having you and your husband as our guests early May. For good orders' sake, I would like to reconfirm that, Château Talaud being a Bed&Breakfast, all rates year round do include breakfast buffet for 2. The Special Offer we proposed was a 3 nights' stay, with a fourth night complimentary.
With regard to the two road signs, you will find our complete address as well as the full coordinates on our website www.chateautalaud.com, which will make it easy to prepare your arrival at Château Talaud with the help of your GPS and/or map. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Provence and we are looking forward to welcome you back to Château Talaud.

A four night stay in a quality property with wonderful hosts. Excellent sleep in a quiet, country setting Excellent breakfast in a quiet garden. Great location for daily touring. Follow the hosts reccomendations for sights and food....and above all,,,if you have a chance to dine at the Chateau....don't miss it.

We just got back from our trip to the south of France. Connie and Hein were the most gracious of hosts! We loved the chateau and the restful stay that we had there! We appreciated all of Hein's suggestions for what to do! This was a most memorable vacation because of our trip to the chateau! We will be back and would recommend to others...Thank you so much!!! Kathy K

Room Tip: My husband and I loved the blue room! very spacious!

Chateau Talaud is a delightful, small chateau nestled among gorgeous vineyards and a forest of enormous trees, 15 or so minutes outside of Avignon. The chateau has been expertly updated, yet retains a centuries' old charm. Best of all are Hein and Conne who run this wonderful chateau. They are there to suggest wineries, restaurants or other places to visit, but only when asked. Their afternoon gathering brings together diverse nationalities hosted by Conne who makes everyone feel like they've been friends for decades. This was one of the more pleasant and fun stays we've ever enjoyed.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights with my wife's parents. Beautiful accomodations and wonderfully friendly hosts in Connie and Hein. Really like staying with family. Breakfast and evenings relaxing in the garden is superb. Connie recommended excellent nearby restaurants and did everything to make our stay exceptionally comfortable. The rooms are very large and comfortable although our room on the 3rd floor had a fairly low ceiling. Not a big deal although in the height of summer I imagine it could be warm. Perhaps the best part is the location. A mere 30 min from the Avignon TGV and very central to great towns in Provence for day trips north, south, east and west.

Thanks for your time and effort to post a review on www.tripadvisor.com, which is for us an absolute token of appreciation for our 'work' to create a home away from home for our guests.
With regard to our rooms, please note that all five are equipped with very efficient air conditioners for the comfort of our guests, so even during the hottest days, they can enjoy and relax in a cool, comfortable and spacious room.
Wishing you safe travels.
