“Wonderful resort hotel for a wonderful island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

Visited Saint Martin for 5 days with my girlfriend. The hotel itself was amazing. Very quiet, isolated, basically a private beach shared between it and another hotel. The hotel is a little hard to get to, but well worth it. Word of advice, rent a car. Makes getting to the hotel easier and a lot easier to explore the island.

I visited Le Domaine for 5 days. Situated on a cove, the resort was the perfect retreat for a relaxing stay. You are greeted with an open air lobby with charming details and local artwork. The grounds are lush with plants and flowers and surrounded by green hills. The accommodation is pleasant with a spacious balcony. You do not need to drive far to eat gourmet food at the in house and excellent restaurant, Le Table de Marche, offers a variety of local and international cuisine from lobster, fish, shrimp to steak and pasta. I made it a ritual to enjoy a drink during sunset from the beach bar which offers signature rum infused with a variety of flavors to choose from. The music completed the experience to make it a great way to wind the day before dinner and a night out.

The staff was extremely friendly and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Araine Chapon, the guest relations manager that worked tirelessly in making sure every guest has a fantastic time.

I did not use the Spa but the gym had all the basic equipment including free weights and a punching bag.

If you are planning a trip to Saint Martin then I would highly recommend Le Domaine.

Very pretty grounds ! not so great service and food, Staff is a little snooty and french. Otherwise great location felt very safe at night . Didnt like the bathroom and shower separated in the room . I feel the bathroom really needs ventilation maybe a "window" .

My wife and I spent a week at Le Domaine and overall we had a great experience. As many reviewers have pointed out, it claims to be four stars though it really should be 3 (maybe 3.5). The grounds are nice but aren't as well-kept as they could be (especially when compared to the Radisson next door). The pool similarly is in a bit of disrepair and very few guests used it when we were there. The rooms are fine, nothing special, although the balconies are very spacious and pleasant. We actually stayed in two rooms: the first had a broken lock on the balcony door (we were high up so it wasn't a big deal), and the second had a broken fridge. Neither issues were the end of the world but were somewhat annoying. The beach is beautiful and really the main draw for Le Domaine. Despite some of the drawbacks I've mentioned, I'd recommend staying there, especially if you can get a good rate.

We went for Christmas. Papa Noel (French Santa Claus) riding in on a jet ski was cute for Christmas Eve dinner by the seaside restaurant. But it was an average hotel with gold-star prices. Shower inside jacuzzi tub had a hand-held gadget faucet that was very difficult to use. Beach was always crowded, very muddy sand. We never sat on beach! we sat at pool where kids splashed all day. Ugh! This was a very expensive, totally French hotel. Some management pretended that they could not speak English. Wonderful native St. Maarten staff. But, Americans beware. You will be overcharged. Like the Saturday Night Live spoof, they will take forever to correct mistakes on your bill. Chef was world class. But we ate only 1 meal here, opting for real coffee (coffee here was awful!) and basic food at local eateries just a few steps away.Location is far away from everything. So, we ventured to Dutch-side only once. Overall, we had a nice quiet stay.

Room Tip: ask for bath with separate shower and separate room--not in bedroom. beach view not worth the extra...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review on your Christmas stay.
We are happy that you had a nice stay with us.
I would however like to address some of your comments :
I would first of all respond to your "Americans beware", we are not, contrary to what you said a all French hotel (in fact during your stay, more than half of our guests were Americans) and our staff and management are perfectly proficient in English. Americans is a clientèle that we both appreciate and respect and there will never be any special charge for them
The beach was indeed a little muddy during your stay, due to extremely high water for the season (something upon which we have no control unfortunatly), i do thouh regret that you had to experience this aspect of our beach wich is known to be one of the nicest of the island.
As for the kids splashing in the pool, I do regret but we are a kid friendly hotel, all the more during holidays season and they do have a tendency to have fun at the pool.
We will continue to work on improving our services and hope to see you again soon.

My husband and I arrived very early, 9am coming off a Star Clipper cruise. The first thing we did was to extend for one additional night which was seamless. We were even given a rate very close to the special we had previously booked online which was not through the hotel. We expected to wait a while being that check-in is not till 3pm. We were given drink and towel vouchers, had our luggage stored, and took the short stroll to the beach where there were chairs with umbrellas. We found after touring several beaches on the island that Anse Marcel is a fantastic beach and the property is excellently placed. We were very happy with the location. It did take till 3pm for our room to be ready, even though the hotel was no where near full capacity. We were not offered the option of accepting another room earlier. Our room was not as clean as it should have been. Especially considering the wait. The floor was sandy and there was a lot of hair around the tub/shower/sink. I mentioned it and the room was spotless there after. The A/C quit working after the second day which was not a problem until other hotel guests arrived and their cigarette/cigar smoke made it necessary to closed the sliding door. We mentioned it at checkout. We requested additional towels but they only gave us extras on the first day. So towel service was skimpy. The gym was well appointed and equipped with a full size punching bag! Overall it's a great hotel in an excellent location with an amazing view and a very good staff. We look forward to our return.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Le Domaine. As our children are now grown, we're at the time in our lives able to enjoy trips like this.

As many others have mentioned the beach is wonderful, the small bars and restaurants for lunch and rum drinks were wonderful and we found many of the staff were French ExPats and pleased to talk about their experiences at home and on St martin and offer ideas on activities we should try. We had a rental car so explored differnt beaches but would return to Anse Marcel as our favorite.

The French side of the island had a extended power outage on our second day and the staff worked through it with smiles and set out a large breakfast for all of us, camping style.

We found the room clean and comfortable, our deck perfect for sitting out with wine and people watching the water pressure and hot water was fine. The Radisson next door was more modern, maybe more luxurious but about twice the price---

As we visited different parts of the island, we found the secluded spot at Le Domaine to be just right- we cabbed down to grand case for great/ inexpensive dinners a couple nights-- (didn't want to drive up the hill in the dark after dinner and drinks).

We met Ariane (another Parisien) and had chance to chat near the end of our trip-- She's a manager and we complemented her on her facility and staff. She was a pleasure and seemed very sincere and grateful for the kind words as she had just read a not so glowing trip advisor review and believe me she takes pride in her hotel takes the poor reviews personally. I shared our opinion from reading many reviews that there is just no pleasing some folks-- no matter how hard you tried.

Pleased to recommend the hotel to families with children, young couples and us 50ish couples. was hard to leave and we look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony facing the beach.
