“Beautiful hotel in Old Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2011

We stayed for five nights in the beautiful Hotel Can Tem in the Old Town of Alcudia, Majorca. This hotel is just a joy to stay in and the owners, Toni and Magdelena treated us like their own family. We had use of the kitchen for tea/coffee making and were able to sit and relax in their beautiful garden at any time during the day or evening. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the shops and restaurants in the unspoiled Old Town. The market which took place on Tue & Sun was just on our doorstep. Breakfast in the hotel was excellent and it was just so relaxing to eat breakfast in the garden each morning. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel has been lovingly restored by the owners. We are planning to return soon to this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: We had room number 2 which was next to kitchen so very convenient to pop in and make cuppa at any ti...

Hotel Can Tem is a nice, pleasant, small-scale hotel (though, sufficient facilities) in Alcudia. The owner (living next to the hotel) speaks English very well and takes all time to explain you things. The location of the hotel in the middle of the old centre is perfect and Alcudia is a very nice town! It takes about 30 mins to walk to Alcudia beach (a very good and clean beach at which one can rent beds for 4,50 a day).

Positives:
# Free wifi is offered. # We had a little inconvenience in the bathroom for which a small repair was necessary. This repair was done the same day.

Negatives:
# Improvement is possible concerning the breakfast, although it is of good quality in general. Can Tem could offer fresh juice (something which counts for more hotels we visited), baguettes and eggs.

Rooms: we stayed first in a superior (Cap des Pinar) and later in a deluxe room (Sa Talaia). Both rooms were good, clean and offered enough space. We found the bed and bathroom of de deluxe room somewhat better than the superior room (which might be logic, given the price difference).

Restaurant suggestions Alcudia:
# Bistro 1909. # Italian Sa Caseta. # Tapas and more in Sa Taverna. # Hotel S'Arc. # Genestar.

This hotel was just perfect for us. It was elegant, tastefully furnished, lots of character and very relaxing. Our room was spacious with an extremely comfortable large double bed and a lovely terrace. The bathroom too was large and perfectly designed, complete with lovely soaps and body lotions! Breakfast was served in an attractive courtyard garden. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly owners. The hotel is a beautifully restored old townhouse and is situated in the centre of the delightful old town and yet not very far from the lovely beach at Alcudia. Also very close to the fantastic Genestar Restaurant. We would highly recommend this hotel for those looking for a quiet, elegant and totally relaxing place to stay.

Wonderful hotel in the centre of the old town of Alcudia, not to be confused by "Puerto Alcudia", which is nearby, but is a different world altogether. The hotel is very peaceful and relaxing as we hardly saw any other guests. We sat for a good while in the candlelit terrace in the evening, and also had breakfast in the terrace, and only saw one other couple. The owners were marvellous, more than helpful, atentive and very friendly without being over bearing at all. It felt like a friend gave you their home and left you to it, but with the assurance that they were nearby (a few doors away in the same street!) if you needed them. The kitchen was open for us to use basics such as the fridge/cutlery/glasses, and they had a basic selection of drinksand snacks to which you can help yourself and let them know what you used later. The rooms are good sized, impeccably clean, and nicely decorated mixing old mallorcan style with modern touchs. Its location the old town is great, as just a few minutes walk away through the pedestrianised area there are lots of small shops, cafes, and some very good restaurants. The ownly minor draw back is that cars can't get near the hotel (to drop suitcases off etc), but we parked for free just over a 5 minute walk away (on the outskirts of the walls of the town), and had no problem. A highly recommendable hotel!

Can Tem is an intimate hotel, five large luxury rooms, decorated with a lot of flair mixing traditional with modern decor beautifully.
Tony the owner/manager showed me all the rooms, which are beautiful, furnished with antiques and modern bathrooms with huge bathtubs.
This is a typical stone Mallorquin village house with court yard that has been lovingly and tastefully restored with no expense spared.
The village of Alcudia is pedestrian, no cars, very quiet, safe for kids with a good selection of shops and restaurants with outdoor terraces. It is ten minutes drive from some of Mallorca's best beaches, 40 minutes drive down the motorway to Palma and an excellent base from which to visit the island.
We like the beach but a few hours each day is enough and the same quality room at the beach would be 3 or 4 times the price, so excellent value for money.
Simple but delicious breakfast with local ingredients, helpful, charming staff, we will be returning with friends & family
