“Totally Super”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

What a super couple of nights we spent at the Farmers Boy Inn. All the staff were very helpful and the chef's made our meals a pleasure to eat. We all look forward to going back again. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and served the very purpose for our visit. Well done to all.
The four of us could not find any fault with this lovely country inn.

We'd been away for over a fortnight, staying in a country house hotel,a luxury self-catering apartment and a top-class B&B.This was our last night away, en route home and it couldn't have been better. A friendly pub, extremely busy (Saturday night),but the cheerful staff coped well with the pressure. The food was brilliant. An amazing choice of pies, plus a comprehensive menu of other mouth-watering dishes- but the pies were outstanding
"Mad about Pies" Yes,indeed - passionate about pies, and a reputation well deserved.A very popular restaurant, probably essential to book in advance
The bedrooms, round a courtyard at the rear of the pub, were clean, comfortable and quiet, with huge beds you could get lost in!
A perfect place to end our holiday. We look forward to a return visit.

Well where to start only one night stay only regret it had not been longer. The rooms are clean and fresh with a massive bed. The food and service were excellent. Others have moaned about the time food took to arrive. We didn't wait long even though the restaurant was busy. The service was good waitress very friendly. Food like that was worth waiting for. The portions were huge and defeated both husband and I. Thanks for making ours a lovely stay and we will certainly be back

We had a one night stay at The Farmers Boy Inn and enjoyed it very much, the rooms at the rear of the pub are compact but adequate and have everything you could want inside them. The evening meal was very nice I tried the Whitebait starter and for main course the Chicken and mushroom pie (Just Wonderful). The selection of beers at the bar was very good indeed from ciders, larger and bitters mostly from the local breweries.
The staff were more than friendly and made our stay most enjoyable(many Thanks).

My husband & I were looking for somewhere local to our holiday cottage that allowed dogs so went here after reading the great reviews. It was about 3pm on a Saturday and the pub was fairly quiet. We chose to sit outside as it was a sunny day. Our food took around 50 minutes to arrive & even by this point the waitresses still hadn't managed to bring us any cutlery. Our meals were then brought out in about 5 trips although there were only 2 of us. My husband had a pie
& I had the cajun chicken & red onion bloomer. The pie was ok (although nothing outstanding) but the bloomer I cannot say the same for. Over cooked, rock hard, grisly chicken (of which most went to the dog) and no red onion in site. We ordered extra chips which we were glad of as I had to check with the waitress what we had was definitely 3 portions! Overall we thought the pub was disappointing given what we were expecting. Poorly cooked food and below average service. We overheard locals on the next table questioning whether there was a new chef as their meals had also been below the standard they usually expected...

Apologies for the late delay in replying. I have looked into your comments and i apologise and admit that on this occasion it looks like we got it wrong. Once we "the Public" find a negative "rightly or Wrongly" we start to look for more and if we are not on top of our game we will struggle.
Our Job is to make people happy "a difficult but rewarding job" when its going right. On this occasion it looks like we fell short. My apologies once again.

Lovely pub friendly staff great food. Accomodation clean and comfortable. We were supposed to stay for 2 nights but due to a long term health issue had to return home on 2nd morning. We were both very disapointed as we had already planned what we would be eating that evening from the very interesting menu.
We would highly recommend The Farmers Boy to everyone we know and would hope to return in the future.

The curbside appeal of this pub could be a little off putting, 3 union flags flying from the building, novelty signs on pavement. However, this unpretentious establishment has well equiped ensuite courtyard rooms that are very clean. The reataurant has a good varied menu offering well presented food which is extremely well cooked along with a nice selection of ales, ciders & wines to suit all budgets. The staff are warm & friendly providing an excellent service & nothing is too much trouble. This pub is run by a guy who is at the top of his game, don't miss out. John & Helen, Hertfordshire
