At least it's easy to find Middle Rock. There's an absolutely enormous flashing neon sign out the front. The office - less easy. FYI - walk past the entry boom gates to find it. We booked a motel room for 2 nights. We got it on a last minute rate of $75 - it certainly wasn't worth any more than that. The room was actually half a cabin and presumably called a motel room because they supplied the linen. We were welcomed into the room by a sign telling us that any mess we left would incur a charge of $100, any hint of us smoking in the room $200. Below that in small type we were told to enjoy our stay.... Well.... The floor was bare and cold. The TV was tiny and suspended from the ceiling so could be viewed (with the psychedelic effect of pink/green colouring all around the edge of the screen) only from the bed with all the lights off. This was because the only lights in the room were directly overhead (no reading lights) and the bathroom/toilet lights were linked to roaring fans. I suspect the odd collection of furniture came from Vinnies. On the plus side, there was an unexpected microwave oven and some plates/cutlery. Room 106 in case you're wondering which room to avoid. As for the rest of the "resort", most of it is a decidedly seedy campground with long term residents in wheel-less caravans raised on blocks with tacky annexes in need of some TLC, all crowded close together. From what I could see most powered sites were in the ghetto area of the permanent caravans, so can't really be recommended. The unpowered part of the campground was by far the best area, out on it's own with plenty of trees and grass. It is however roughly a 10 minute walk from there over sand dunes to the beach, so young kids couldn't go on their own. The actual resort part of the "resort" is at the front near the sign and when we visited mostly a building site. Being so close to the road, it appeared quite unappealing, but perhaps it's still a work in progress.
