“lovely peaceful stay in beautiful surrounds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

A lovely location, on a ridge overlooking the Wayanad hills. Friendly hosts, and excellent home style food. There are opportunities for pleasant walks on the plantation itself, as well as nice places to embark on gentle strolls through tea and coffee plantations or very ambitious hikes nearby. Fantastic diversity of birdlife in the plantation and super views.

Stayed in the treehouse-style accommodation with 2 children, which was an exciting highlight for them and us.

The property could perhaps do with better signage - it was particularly hard to find from the main road.

Room Tip: Both of the tree-houses have great views out over the valley, the larger one is a great adventure fo...

We spent two nights here with two children aged 10 and 8. It is a wonderful place run by a wonderful couple called Neema and Rajesh who really go out of their way to make sure your stay is special. We visited nearby waterfalls with Rajesh and enjoyed a tour of the tea, coffee and spices with Neema. The food is amazing and the rooms are lovely. The tree houses are extra special but also more expensive. This place is gorgeous and we would definitely go again. There is not a lot to do with children there, but plenty to fill a couple of days. The view of the valley from here is one of the most amazing views I have ever seen anywhere in the world.

This is a very good place to stay with a lot of atmosphere. Strongly recommend to stay at least one night in a tree hut (more is not necessary as it is not as comfortable as the main building and it is more expensive). Food cooked by Meena and her helpers was exceptionally good and her husband was very friendly in organising our travels and walks around. Highly recommend the place as a starting point in exploring Wayanad.

We spent two delightful nights at Aranyakam situated in a 30 acre organic coffee plantation on 14th and 15th of December 2012. We stayed in the tree house rather cliff house built out of natural products such as bamboo, tree logs, thatch and wood based furniture with a double balcony overlooking nilgiri mountains, forests and superb sunsets. The old mansion and the dining room was a few minutes walk from the tree house. We thoroughly enjoyed the kerala cuisine based generously on addition of coconut oil, pulp, water etc. The host and hostess Mr. Rajesh and Neema were delightful to chat and very helpful. Mr. Rajesh is a person of varied talents including keeper of 14 elephants! Anybody wishing to become a host or a hostess I strongly urge to visit Aranyakam and pick many useful hints from the hosts. Nearby Rippon was a driving delight taking in Tea Plantations reminiscent of Munnar.

we loved the serenity and the ambiance was good... the suite was clean but the stench of mattress was a turnoff... rooms were not cleaned the second day... food was not that great...organic ones can be better...
what surprised us was the taste of coffee...!!! come on..!!! its a midst coffee plantations... and the taste was dreadful... never felt like we're sipping coffee, ATLEAST...
its priced too high...!!! i agree its a home stay... they dont provide room service... but prices are not on par with the standards of 'this' home stay...
and they never provided us the bill... Neema made an excuse of "server being down"... ha ha ha... i really dont know what it exactly means...!!!! she assured to inbox me... and i'm still waiting.... that's horrendous!!!!
"there are better places to stay and one can cherish" as we've been to wayanad umpteen times...

We spent 3 nights in a wonderfully tranquil and relaxed setting with warm and friendly hosts Neema and Rajesh who made us feel at home. One night in the tree house was superb. Wayanad was so interesting and beautiful views surround the property.

A beautiful wood building set in the middle of a coffee plantantion.
Like all family run homestays you should stay a few days and get to know the family.
Neema and Rajesh and their two daughters are not only charming but have a wealth of knowledge about not only their eco friendly coffee plantantion but everything else that grows and lives in this stunning forest area.
This is a peace and quiet location that offers fantastic walks and treks. You will need to be a nature lover to get on here and if you are not when you arrive you most certainly will be by the time you leave.
Food is great and if you have a little extra to spend, then go for one of the huts away from the main house. If you like a drink or two you will have to brink your own with you.
For sure this is the best place in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main house are all good but if you can spend a little more go for the huts away from th...
