I love this place!! So there you have it - in four words...my review!!!
I have to say that from the outside I was fairly underwhelmed and have driven past it numerous times without thinking to stop. Then I started to notice the car park was always full and thought perhaps this is worth investigating so suggested it to a friend.
On first entering the pub the impression is - that it is a little tatty around the edges - but hey as soon as you look at the menu you start to think ...mmmm this is looking better. You then review the wine list and the fab selection of gins and whiskey and your nose starts to twitch at the possibility that this has potential.
Then you order and the service is friendly and unobtrusive - just about right in fact!! The real delight - the food!! The pies are fab and the pub is really well known for these - but if you go "off piste" so to speak and try some of the other grub - it is just lovely.
Really do like this pub as it is not pretending to be something that it is not - it is a good pub serving good grub in a friendly atmosphere - no pretensions and nothing "gastro ghastly" about it.
My only complaint ....which is minor and just cos I feel I have to say something negative so you know it is a genuine review.....trying hard to think of a gripe...yes have thought of one...some of the chairs are a little hard on the derriere ...but that is just an excuse to order yet another pie!!
