“Pub glorious pub!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

I love this place!! So there you have it - in four words...my review!!!

I have to say that from the outside I was fairly underwhelmed and have driven past it numerous times without thinking to stop. Then I started to notice the car park was always full and thought perhaps this is worth investigating so suggested it to a friend.

On first entering the pub the impression is - that it is a little tatty around the edges - but hey as soon as you look at the menu you start to think ...mmmm this is looking better. You then review the wine list and the fab selection of gins and whiskey and your nose starts to twitch at the possibility that this has potential.

Then you order and the service is friendly and unobtrusive - just about right in fact!! The real delight - the food!! The pies are fab and the pub is really well known for these - but if you go "off piste" so to speak and try some of the other grub - it is just lovely.

Really do like this pub as it is not pretending to be something that it is not - it is a good pub serving good grub in a friendly atmosphere - no pretensions and nothing "gastro ghastly" about it.

My only complaint ....which is minor and just cos I feel I have to say something negative so you know it is a genuine review.....trying hard to think of a gripe...yes have thought of one...some of the chairs are a little hard on the derriere ...but that is just an excuse to order yet another pie!!

“Great service, amazing pies.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Lovely, inviting place with lots of character. Warm, friendly service and excellent Ales (which kept me happy). My wife, who is less easily please absolutely loved the place and the atmosphere. To finish it off.... the most amazing pies, hence my review. I will definitively be back for more and may take some away next time.... unfortunately it is a little to far away to make it our local.

“2 sc travelers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

nice pub / restaurant in the Cotswolds. nothing fancy, the do a 2 part pie, one side meat and potatoes and the other vegetables in a cheese sauce. good ales on tap, quite a homey type place. a bit expensive, but then everything in England seemed a bit expensive.

“Great atmosphere, delicious food, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

Visited recently on the reputation of the 2 in 1 pies and it certainly didn't disappoint. Lovely welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and open log fires - perfect for a rain soaked Sunday afternoon!

Despite a great choice on the menu, I had to try the 2 in 1 pie which was delicious and certainly deserves its' reputation, really tasty and well worth the visit.

Will definitely make a return visit - great pub, great service, great atmosphere, highly recommended.

“Nice pies, shame about the kids menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Love the 2 in 1 pies although I'd welcome more than 1 veggie option. Also the pies are not very child-friendly and the kids' menu alternatives aren't great... My children usually love pizzas but these were vile! Would go back there but not with the children.

Dear Hungry Badger, thank you for taking the time to review my pub. We are very happy that you enjoyed your visit. Our menu for children is always under review and therefore would welcome your suggestions. I am suprised that you feel the Rufus Robin pies are not child friendly. Perhaps you could give me a ring to let me know your thoughts. You can contact me on 01453 832520 seven days a week. Kind Regards, Howard
