following on from a hectic week in Patong, this was a welcome haven to come to. Very Clean, courteous staff. expected a Superior room but got upgrated to Junior suite, lovely, wonderful views too. Breakfast caters for all, European, Asian and Americas. We were on half board, and had choice of two menu selections - plenty of choice and could mix and match starters from A with mains from B etc. Typical Thai choices as well as other Asian and European choices so never a dull meal. Also able to select "specials" such as seafood platter. Downside -which we found from first week as well is wine - its expensive, so limited to the odd glass or two, but the house red/whites were fine, also the Pinot Chardonnay brut was good. Not a hotel for people with walking/joint problems as access to lobby, lift, pool and beach are all stairs, no slopes that I saw. Gym has seen better days, but to keep a general fitness going is quite adequate, a swim across the bay or run on the beach is good. Ideal beach for children - sandy and softly sloping, very much like Cornish beaches, with body surfing - yes there is surf -at least the week we were there. I am pleased we visited at the begining of the season, as we dont like crowds and lots of sunbeds, which I suspect as it is a lovely beach could get crowded in high season. I very much hope the life guards keep their diligence in keeping the jet bikes away, I would hate to see jet bikes and speed boats running rampant as they do in Patong.
Very warm welcome from Urai, Penluck, Anong and teams in the main quaterdeck and terrace areas.relaxing start to evening with happy hour overlooking bay. I cant comment on the Spa as did not use (I dont use at home either) Marked down on value only because of the wine prices, if you drink beer, or shorts, then its in line with rest of Thailand - which we thought was expensive actually - I think its the added tax. WIFI is available for free in the lobby/pool/promanade deck area which for us was sufficient. for those who want constant you can purchase different access - same as Patong areas. There are beach side bars/restaurants which have wifi too and for those who want to eat somewhere different. Fruit stalls, taxi's and usual beach type shops are to hand too.
The Higher placed rooms have wonderful views, especially in thunder storms! and catch the breezes, b...
