5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2009

This place was more than phenomenal! Beautiful facility, wonderful staff, Delicious restaurants and great drinks! My husband and I went here for our honeymoon, we are both extremely picky but fell in love with this resort.
I would definately recomend this place for couples, extremely romantic!

Great resort. What really made the resort was the staff.

Rooms
The rooms are marvelous. We were in a spa suite with marble floors and a nice balcony overlooking a pool. The bed was a little hard, so that took a couple of nights to get used to. The rooms also had a hot tub with a window overlooking the resort, this was really great to relax after a long day of enjoying the resort :)
Made service is supposedly twice a day,but really there is no set time, the maids just get to your room whenever..
Room service is included so that was a major plus

Drinks
If you are a big mixed drinks kind of person, you will be dissapointed, the mixed drinks were definitely not up to par with what you'd expect from a 5 star resort, plus it was very inconsistent, the drinks tasted differentely based on the barman, on the plus side there are bars scatterred all over the resort so you are never to far from one. The house sparkling wine is great, its the same stuff they give you when you first arrive at the resort

Food
The resort has about six resorts;, Asian, French, Mediterranean, a Tapas bar as well as the grill restaurant and lobster house; we ate mostly breakfast at Tosacana, the mediterranean restaurant, which was a buffet with a nice selection every morning. The grill also served breakfast, or you could just order room service.

Pools
About 5 pools, with one that kinda of snakes around the resort so you can get a floating bed and just float around the whole resort. You dont have to wake up early to reserve lounge chairs, there is more than enough for everyone

Service
Excellent !!, the staff is awesome, dont forget to take some $1 bills to tip from time to time if you are so inclined, these guys sure deserve it.

Spa
We had the couple's massage which was excellent, you start of with hydrotherapy which was awesome , we followed up with 80 min deep tissue massage which was awesome the spa treatment ran us about $300USD but was well worth it !!

Conclusion
All in all these is a great resort if you are looking to have a romantic getaway or just to relax and recharge.

From the first day we were in awe with this hotel. The service was amazing and the whole resort was beautiful. They have 8 different restaurants to choose from, the food was great, although we didn't get to try all of them. The part of the beach where the resort is on wasn't the pretty clear blue water I was expecting, but you can tell they maintain the beach pretty well. I love that they had beds all over the resort, perfect for being a total bum. Every evening they had events going on, dancing, black jack night, a magician, so it was nice that they tried to do something for the guests that mainly stayed at the resort instead of out at the bars in Cancun. The pools were nice, not too many but it never got crowded. We loved that it was mainly small families (with older kids obviously) or couples, so it was always pretty calm and relaxing everywhere you went. Our only complain was that we didn't stay enough days to really enjoy the scene.

Pros-
Gorgeous Hotel
Beautiful Guest Rooms
Great Spa
Awesome Pools (very long too for swimming)
Great Food and Drinks
Top Notch Service. Everyone from the waiters to the bellhops were just excellent.

Cons:
The Beach - too much seaweed in the water and on the sand.
The Bathrooms could have had a little more privacy

I Am writting this review as a consumer and a bride. I had my wedding cerimony at the Excellence and it was a dream come true. The wedding consultant is amazing! They have everything ready for you. All you have to do is make choices, which are very easy to make.
They arranged musician, flowers, decoration, dinner, cocktail- and everything was perfect!
We had a two story room. In truth, it was too cold for us to use our pool on the roof. SO it was a waist of our money. If you are going in the Summer it may be a good plus to your stay.
Breakfast was amazing- so manny choises! If you are on a diet- be ready to let go ! Because there are tons of temptations.
We had free alcohool! Everywhere!!! In our room, by the pool, on the beach! Great cocktail- and all included in the price.
The only negative points is that the jacuzzis were very cold- not as hot as a jacuzzi. They only had a ocuple really working, the others were cold.
They have their own scuba diving center- we used it for snorkling.
Parasailing was a LOT of fun too!!! They had so many atractions.
I cannot find words to describe how amazing this hotel is! Def. your best selection in Cancun- if you can afford it!

My girlfriend, i, and another couple just returned from our stay at EPM 5-13 thru 5-17. I truly am still in awe over how imrpessive this resort is. I have been fortunate to travel to some nice tropical resorts thru the years, and not one resort, has left me so satisfied as EPM has. We booked an excellence club ocean front and after being there 5 days i feel we made the best choice. We were on the second floor of building 8. Our room was even nicer than the photos. The two person shower was in my opinion the best suprise. There is plenty of closet space, a nice bed, 42 inch flat screen, hot tub, and great balcony. The view with an ocean front is worth the extra money. I would not recommend a swim out suite after looking over the resort. There isn't near the privacy or the view you get from an ocean front or RTT room. As far as an RTT room, I personally just don't think i would use it with a great beach and many pools to choose from. If you are a private person and just want to be alone with your hunny this might be a good choice, we just enjoyed meeting new couples at the pool and pool bar.
The food at this all inclusive resort is very good, not excellent, but damn good. We ate breakfast every morning at the barcelona buffet, it had lots of variety and would meet anyones breakfast needs. For lunch we never went to a restaurant, we would sit poolside and order a burger or chicken quasidia. Before dinner we would meet our friends at the beachfront x-lounge. A cocktail at 7 watching the sunset and feeling the breeze was definitely a must with us every night before dinner. We ate at Spice the first night and it was pretty good. The sushi was an 8 on a scale of 1-10. The 2nd and last night we ate at the grill. The ocean views and outside dinning was why we were there. Both nights we all had the surf & turf and we were very pleased with our meals. The lobster is a grilled carribean lobster and it was excellent. The filet and the ribeye is good but not the best i've ever had. Our other dinner was the mexican night theme party held outside in the area beside the theatre. The night was really fun, with a great selection of true mexican food, a mariachi band, and other mexican style fun.
The service at this resort is 5 star. In our 5 days i can't think of one thing that the staff could of done any better. All staff was accomodating and there to serve you with a smile. I believe in tipping everyone that offers you any type of service, and i did that throughout the stay, but i must tell you i didn't feel the staff treated anyone any different if they didn't tip.
The spa is a must, and i do mean a must. The hydrotherapy and our treatments were amazing. If you are going to spend any money on a splurge while in cancun this is where to do it.
The grounds of this resort, from the landscaping to the pools and rooms are first class. We truly enjoyed waking up every morning and walking around the resort for exercise before breakfast.
For transportation from the airport i used DreamDays.Com and rented a brand new Cadillac Esv. Roudtrip was 150.00 U.S. Dollars for all 4 of us. They were there waiting at the airport and on time to take us back. The rate of 150 is a flat rate and the vehicle can hold up to 7 people. I will always use dreamdays for transportation when i go back.
We can't wait to get back to EPM, and I strongly recommend this resort to anyone.

We had a great week-long stay at the EPM. We loved the service, the spa, the rooms, pools, drinks, and the bands. My husband is in a wheelchair, and EPM was very accommodating. He was able to access all of the restaurants, etc. It was a very quiet and relaxing stay. My only complaint is that the food was kind of hit or miss. Somethings would be great...other things...not so much. But I would for sure go back in a second!
