“A very lucky find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2011

We had naively decided to wait and see where we should stay once we arrived in Christchurch for our last two nights in NZ. We soon found out that everywhere was booked out solid for a long period of time.

We eventually found that there was one remaining vacancy at Garden View and jumped at the vacancy. We would have taken anything that night but what a surprise when we arrived and found this wonderful home with the extremely friendly and generous hosts, Beth and John.

We enjoyed a brilliant night at this B&B but had to leave at 4.30am to catch a plane. We insisted that we would quietly sneak out so not to wake everyone but Beth and John insisted that they would get up as they always farewell their guests.

If you are after a B&B where your every need is taken care of I would strongly recommend spending at least one night with these brilliant hosts.

Beth and John made us very welcome, they have thought of everything and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was wonderful with a fantastic bathroom and very comfortable bed. We returned on 2 more occasions as we were touring New Zealand for the rugby world cup, there was always a warm welcome. Lovely breakfasts with home made jams and fruits. We will definitely return!

Our first stop in New Zealand was the Gardenview Bed & Breakfast in Rolleston with Beth and John Koeghan. We were a little apprehensive because we had never stayed at a B&B before, but right away they made us feel welcome in their home with hot tea and cookies. They were genuinely interested in learning more about us, how we met and our travel plans. Beth was so thoughtful and packed tea, snacks and more for our day trip to Akaroa Bay. We also stayed at the B&B the night at the end of our vacation and they were so excited to hear about our adventures on the South Island. We plan on visiting Beth & John again!

We stayed one night at “Torlesse Room with Ensuite” during our roundtrip at New Zealand. It could not been better and we are very happy to see that this kind of paradise exists. The room was perfect with own very big bathroom. The atmosphere was very friendly and helpful and we got good recommendations about dinner places and so on. In the living room we got known to other quests and could have nice small talk with them. Served breakfast was tasteful and versatile, actually it was cooked during we had our morning tea. It is very easy to recommend this place for anyone as it was excellent.

Our family (2 adults + 3 young boys) stayed a few days with Beth and John. Their highly personalised attention was beyond service - we felt immediately accepted into their family. They are very warm and inviting, full of interesting knowledge and information and amazingly patient with young kids. The accomodation rooms are 5-star, and its easy to find on the GPS. This is a perfect 'base' for a South Island/Canterbury holiday!
Convenient supermarket walking distance away.
