“Delightful and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

We loved staying in this lovely small hotel/ B & B. The owner, Laurence Barden is a warm, very helpful and friendly hostess.
Dont be put off by it's location being in a small country locality. It is only a short drive into Cahors and 2km from a lovely French Restaurant for your evening meal (recommend and booked by Laurence).
As a gay couple we felt only warm and welcoming energy from our hostess.
We would definitely stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending to others.

A truly lovely B&B in the outskirts of Cahors. We were welcomed by the owners, offered beverages, as they took us around their country estate and pointed out all the amenities made available to their guests. Aside from the gorgeous country grounds, they have a wonderful salt water pool, plenty of garden and lawn lounge chairs, picnic dining tables, a great outdoor kitchen and cooking area, as well as a parlor room with hot beverages and dessert type treats. We took advantage of ALL these amenities, and they added to our Provence stay! The rooms are clean, lovely, and have super comfortable beds! The Internet had some of the strongest access we experienced on this trip in Southern France, however, you do need to relax in the large parlor room to use it. The bedroom closest to the parlor ( ours) does get it as well though. We were treated to a beautiful breakfast outdoors near their pool. It was a lovely and tranquil setting. There was wonderful variety and different offerings each morning, along with 4 different homemade jams. They prefer cash if possible, but one of our three couples did Visa, and it wasn't a problem at all. Very kind people, this B&B will not disappoint you!

Room Tip: The room second away from the parlor is beautiful, my older sister and husband had that one and we w...

We (a couple with a 2 year old daughter) rented the gite Le Pigonnier for 5 days, and we truly had a wonderful stay. The gite has recently been renovated and is perfect for a couple or a couple with a young child. Everything about it is perfect: a spacious bedroom with a very good king size bed on the first floor, and a living room with tv and a small kitchenette on the ground floor. All is done in a warm and luxurous style, but not over the top. The gite is annexed to the main building. You have part of the garden and a summer kitchen to yourselves. The grounds are spacious and perfectly maintained. But the highlight was Madame Bardin, a warm and welcoming lady, who speaks good English, and is a great cook. She also does a B&B and she works tirelessly to make all guests feel at home. The region has great attractions, with the Lot river, Cahors, St Cirq Lapopie, many lovely villages and wonderful wine castles within easy driving distances. We can highly recommend this place.

What an amazing experience. My wife daughter and I just stayed at Domaine de Labarthe for nights July. We were looking to get relax and experience the countryside after spending nearly two weeks in Paris and Provence. The rooms, the grounds, dining by the pool, the food, everything was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. Guillaume and Laurence were wonderful hosts and helped us make the most of our time in Cahors, which is a lovely town. If you go make sure to see Rocamadur, Saint Cirq Lapopie and get lost in the surrounding countryside. There are wonderful local markets in many of the surrounding villages. Laurence recommended one to us in Les Junies which was special. Thank you again for making our visit special.

Three couples stayed at Domaine, for 2 nights in July. We loved every minute of our stay. The rooms were first class, five star quality, the hosts were exceptional and friendly and the location perfect. All 6 of us agreed that we need to come back for a longer stay.
Thank you Laurence..

Room Tip: all rooms are beautiful and quiet.

My boyfriend and I rented a car and drove through the southwest of France. Part of this trip had us stopping into this little B&B that a friend had recommended in Espere. We arrived and were totally blown away by the spot! The rooms are all in these great restored 18th century buildings, and the yards and views are just as amazing as they look in the pictures. Laurence and Guillaume were the most gracious hosts. They helped us plan out our two days there, complete with restaurant recommendations/reservations and a winery tour. We also slept so well there that we completely missed breakfast one morning. When I went in to apologize to Laurence, she was so nice about it and said she was just happy we slept so well. When we did finally collect ourselves to eat, breakfast was delicious! I would 100% stay here again. Thank you Laurence and Guillaume!

We felt like pampered nobility at Lawrence's home. She is a warm and enthusiastic hostess who was keenly interested in ensuring we enjoyed ourselves. Her dinner suggestions were excellent. The country air was refreshing and the silence divine. This is a beautiful part of France and Domain La Barthe makes a great base for exploring. The river valleys are stunning. Merci!
