Magnificent resort! Fantastic views of the Andaman Sea with pristine white sand and clear turquoise waters, right at our door step. There was amazing attention to details in the construction of the resort, to achieve an Eco-friendly environment, while providing 6-star amenities. We stayed at the newest Spa Pool Suite and it was fabulous! the spa pool is large enough to do a mini swim and the room was very spacious. The walls are doubly thick to block out noise and to keep the villa cool. You really do experience a great sense of privacy.
The staff were very friendly, professional and attentive to our needs. When my husband wanted to go fishing with the locals, they were most accommodating and managed to arrange fora local long tail boat totaled us fishing, within 2 hours of our arrival. The restaurant was happy to cook the fish we caught to our desired choice. The next day, we went scuba diving with their PADI dive master, and it was all very exclusive, with no other guests but us. They really make you feel special and that their service is exclusive to you only. Anumba spa services were excellent! I had a wonderful facial and 2 sessions of maasage treatment! We will definitely be back for more pampering!

Room Tip: Splurge on the room as they are certainly well worth the money you pay!

The Racha is an exclusive resort about 30-40 minutes boat ride from Phuket harbour. Facilities are beautiful, the Spa splendid, gorgeous island with several water sport activities available and all you could think of to unwind. Some minor issues though to be aware of and some "good to know" stuff as well.

To get to the resort one usually can book a boat ride from the hotel and there is a lounge for hotel guests on Phuket harbour side. The trip from Phuket international airport takes about 30-50 minutes (depends on the traffic) and costs anything between 650-900 Bath. The resort takes great pride in safe sea fares and they do not transport people to or from the island is the weather conditions are not safe and pleasant, which is not always the case with some of the entrepeneurs in Thailand.

The hotel itself is very beautiful, providing great beaches, several restaurants, a few private bars for hotel guests only, three bigger pools, many private pools included in the villas, a small library, award winning spa, dive centre (and one by Raya divers as well) and a great gym.

But the island itself has a few other hotels, more economical restaurants and hotels as well and all within an easy walking distance. You just need to take yourself by the neck and start walking. You cannot get lost on the island.

But not all is 100% perfect, some minor bumps on the road, but nothing major. People coming to the island for a day trip wondered into the private resort are as well, and unfortunately behaved in a way that caused some issues. Many of the services were intended for hotel guests alone, but the visitors on the island quite unshamefully used the same facilities as well (like showers, towels, toilets etc.) Sometimes during our 4 night stay our room was not cleaned by afternoon, sometimes the staff did not have enough language skills to to understand what we were trying to say (or perhaps it was our lack of skills in Thai language that failed us) and things that in the end, made the experience a four star visit instead of a five star visit. The prices were decent, food was excellent (in all of the restaurants on the island) and the minor problems were indeed minor ones.

The Racha suits couples, honeymooners and families all alike. The only group that might have some problems would be senior citizens due to the fact that you end up walking a great deal during your stay and there are hills within the resort are as well so unless you have managed to get a bungalow near the reception and the restaurants, you might have some issues with the walks.

Dear Totti K,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our hotel. We highly appreciate hearing from our guests, as their comments are extremely vital for us to continue improving our services and accommodations.

We were pleased to read our property and facilities met your expectations. However, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced caused by the misbehavior of some of the day trippers. Indeed the island attracts a lot of day tourists because of its beauty and what it has to offer. In Thailand, all beaches are public by law so there is really not much we can do to stop them from visiting the island. Rest assured we have taken your feedback very seriously and we will do our best to rectify this problem. Additionally, I apologize for the miscommunication you had with some of our staff. Please be informed that we conduct daily English classes to continually improve the English language skills of our people.

Again, thank you for your honest comments and we look forward to welcoming you to The Racha again soon, assuring you the best of our hospitality.

Kind regards,

Gerard Tan

The Racha really is as beautiful as these other reviews state. Huge rooms, beautiful outdoor showers, exceptional attention to detail and top customer service all help to make this an amazing place to stay.

Where The Racha really shone for me though was how well they reacted to our personal circumstances. My boyfriend and I arrived at The Racha and almost immediately fell ill from something we had eaten in Phuket. When we phoned for the nurse (the resort has their own private, on call nurse) at 3:30am, she arrived within half an hour completely undisgruntled at being disturbed. She was also accompanied by another member of staff who was there to assist her and ensure we understood everything that transpired.

She made a very fast assessment of us and within 10 minutes I was in the clinic on a drip, having an anti-nauseant needle and with her putting together a bundle of pills for us. Her fast action no doubt aided our recovery and whilst the next 48 hours were horrible, we were made very comfortable in our room.

We were there for my boyfriend's brother's wedding and he was so worried he was going to miss it. The hotel staff drove him to the ceremony in a golf cart, kept him with cold wet towels throughout and drove him back to our room immediately after the vows.

The attentiveness and excellent service we were provided by the staff at The Racha really helped us to be as comfortable as possible in such a horrible situation and I think this says so much more about how wonderful they are than any business as usual review ever could.

This was our second visit to The Racha, from the UK. This time it was even better than we remember. The service is very friendly, helpful and mostly unseen. Our villas are delightful with plenty of privacy. My wife enjoyed the spa while I went diving and we both loved the beach. Breakfast is well worth getting up in the morning. Indeed a good and leisurely breakfast pretty much had us setup for the day until evening when we only requiried a light lunch if anything at all.

We travelled as a grounp with a 19 month toddler. She was absolutely delighted with the place; enjoying the beach, resort cats and local lizards!

My wife and I stayed out at the Racha in September. We originally had booked three nights but due to a last minute bit of rescheduling we were able to obtain an extra night - the best decision we have ever made. What can we say that hasn't already been said about The Racha?

While we were greatly surprised to get a room upgrade I am sure that any accommodation at the resort would of been equally as beautiful. Prior to going to The Racha I read many a review on this resort before making any booking. I was somewhat surprised by any sort of comment criticising the resorts 5 Star rating. What were these people looking for - gold plated door knobs?

While I could write copious pages on the resort itself, the real indicator of any resorts performance is its staff. I can offer nothing but high praise for every single person that we had any sort of contact with while on the island. To Koy, Joy & Yui who greeted us most warmly every time we met and every other member of the Racha team, you should all be very proud of the quality service that you offer.

While we have visted a number of Thailand's beautiful islands & resorts, if life is kind to us we hope to again come back to your beautiful resort and relive the most relaxing holiday experience we have ever had.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday enjoying the incredible "Racha" experience and we are already looking forward to our return! From the Racha Office at Chalong Pier we had a smooth 30 minute transfer by speed boat to arrive at the beautiful island with it's white sandy beaches and turquoise water. First impressions when we arrived at the resort were: "BREATHTAKING" and "WOW" with it's stunning natural beauty and the well designed layout of the Villas and Restaurants.
We were warmly welcomed and taken to our Grand Deluxe Villa where we were excited to discover it's many features: inside and outside showers, large comfortable bed with choice of pillows, large bath towels, iPod, flat screen TV which included a choice of 188 free movies, large balcony with day bed & variable lighting. Each day our room was beautifully made up and it was a pleasure to return to the lovely scent of lemongrass (which we chose from their aroma selection).
We had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager, Gerard Tan and were really impressed with his generosity, hands on approach and taking time to meet and greet his guests. He has done a wonderful job creating a truly world class luxury resort experience. His great leadership and management of staff was evident throughout our stay. There was much attention to detail and thoughtfulness, from the unexpected icy poles & chilled water spray provided in the ice buckets around the pool, to the parting gift placed on our bed. The friendly and observant staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, relaxing and fun.
There is a great bar where you can enjoy a drink while taking in the incredible sunsets. We enjoyed two luxurious Spa treatments which were wonderfully relaxing and there is a Boutique where you can purchase products and souvenirs. We recommend that you use the freely available snorkelling gear to explore the colourful tropical fish that are in the same bay where the resort is located. There are also some other beautiful beaches on the island that are easy to get to.
As seasoned travellers, the "Racha" experience exceeded our already high expectations and we would thoroughly recommend this place to you.

We stayed at The Racha for 4 nights in mid Aug 2012 and were very impressed with the staff, the beach, the pools and most importantly the villas! The island itself is pretty small, so you can pretty much walk to the other beaches within 20-30mins although the beach the Racha is on is by far the best one. The Racha also has bicycle loans for free so my wife and I explored the island on bikes which was a lot of fun. Overall we throughly enjoyed the 4 nights we spent at the Racha. You will love it if you are looking for a tranquil getaway in a top class luxury resort.
