“A true pleasure trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Spent 4 days in the resort, Kids wont' want to leave .
Since arrival , we were seated at the lobby with cold towel , flower & drinks. Grace from the club showed us around the resort together with list of activities available for adult & kids. Most of them are free. Check-in were done in the room !
The room that we got is the lagoon view facing. Very quiet indeed , apart from 1st night some noise was out along the corridor. The day bed has been converted into childs' bed which fits 2 kids ( even myself ) perfectly. The housekeeping staff are sweet enough to provide boys' version of duvet ( Ben 10 & Doraemon ) for them.Amenities are well equip (torch , beach bag , umbrella - which is very useful for tropical country ).

The pool area layout is nicely spread across the resort. However , would like the hotel management to take note on the pool ladder flooring . My husband & my kids have several cut while trying to get up from the pool. Perhaps some taping on the ladder edge, so that it's visible to user.
Candy the elephant certainly is the star in the resort...Every kids were surrounding it... Candy will be at the pool area 9 am & 3pm.. Some banana will be provided by the pool staff to elephant trainer for guest to feed it. ..

Overall experience with the club is good but can be further improve with more personalized touch. ( Perhaps addressing guest with name ) . The layout of the club is like a little white glass boat house at the side of lagoon. Love the food & presentation of it throughout breakfast ( 7- 10 am ) ,snack ( 2- 5pm ) & evening cocktail ( 5:30 - 7:30 pm ).

Sent both boys to kids club , an hour before closing no kids were around. The attendants makes my son's day with playing around the area.
The boat rides from the hotel to Canal village are provided free of charge. A good ride especially at night you can see the lighting at Dusti Thani , all the rest of hotel around lagoon area. Last trip is at 8:45pm.

The location of the hotel is not near to any town area, therefore rental of car could ease the pain to move around Phuket.

We spent 5 days here and loved it! As a pregnant mum with a husband and 2 year old in tow I can say that I really had a chance to unwind. From the minute we checked in to our lagoon view club room, the service was outstanding. The club lounge staff instantly made it their jobs to entertain our daughter, even though we hadn't asked them, and brought her balloons while we ate breakfast or enjoyed a complimentary evening cocktail and appetisers on the deck. The club lounge is worth the extra - delicious breakfast with a view of the lagoon, complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks throughout the day, and from 6pm spirits, beer, wine, chef's appetisers all included.

The hotel staff were brilliant when we complained about noise from a restaurant across the lagoon one night (they were holding a party for triathletes who were mostly staying at the hotel). The hotel apologised and promised it would all be wrapped up by 11pm. In fact it ended at 10.30pm, and the next day we were sent an apology note from the management, a bottle of bubbly and milk and cookies for our daughter.

The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The pool/beach area was beautiful. Our 2 year old could splash around the 60cm baby pool which is mostly shaded by trees. The water slide was fun for the whole family. The beach was beautiful and clean although with a moderate-strong current at times. And we all enjoyed the twice-daily visits of Candy the baby elephant who is very well looked after.

Food wise, pizza at the Edgewater restaurant for lunch or dinner was as good as any in Italy and reasonably priced for a hotel - around 300baht each. Locavore restaurant is the lobby one and a little bit more upmarket, which didn't suit us with a 2yr old who got bored quickly. For Thai, and western food, try the beach restaurant 30 meters down the beach called Tom Yam Goong (?) it's not affiliated with the hotel, but brilliant and cheap with a huge menu and sits right above the waves. You can even access it with a pushchair and they accept credit cards. Babylon Beach Club further down is a bit more upscale, the food was good, but the service slow and cc not accepted so caused a few probs.

For drinks/snacks/food during the day head to the shops alongside the hotel beach. A beer here will cost you 70baht, as opposed to 150baht in the bar, and you can bring them back to your lounger. A massage on the beach is 300-400baht/hour so excellent value. The best one we found was Luna Massage1. Come onto the hotel beach and turn left, it's about 500m walk.

Overall a good hotel but not fantastic. It will be good if there is some shade for the kids pool. Kids club is so so, quite dark, not cheerful. Staff does not interact much. Nothing compare to the kids club in Holiday Inn.
Not many choices for restaurant. good breakfast though.

We spent 5 days at the Outrigger Laguna Beach Resort, and were impressed with the high level of hospitality extended by the Club Room staff, in particular, Grace, Aeyr, Nuna, Hanna and Kook. For instance, they went out of their way to solicit a baby sitter from outside the property, so that my husband and I could enjoy a spa session.

The property has obviously received recent remodeling, which is welcome. The Club lounge is nice and easily accessible, although it could have been made a little more stroller-friendly. The pool area extending to the beach is great. The seafront room is also very nice; the soothing sound of the waves crashing onto the beach was therapeutic.

One critique would be the absence of an in-house spa. Perhaps something for the management to consider? No fault of the Outrigger, but our botched spa reservation at the Angsana on one occasion was a disappointment.

Overall, a kid-friendly and relaxing experience. We will be back!

-xoxo

A truly beautiful hotel. Very luxurious in every way.
Spotlessly clean, big rooms with super king size comfy beds, gorgeous bathroom and sun terrace. Everything you could possibly need in the room.
Absolutely stunning pools surrounded by palm trees overlooking the beach. Huge pool towels, and great cocktails with a 2 hour happy hour 5-7pm!
Breakfast was by far the best I've experienced in any 5 star hotel in any country.
Easy access to the beach and great beach hut/restaurants, amazing beach massages.
Candy the baby elephant visits every day, something I wasn't sure about but she's obviously very well cared for.
Expect to pay slightly higher prices for things like taxis and scooter hire but I'm only talking about £2-3 more.
Would go back in a heartbeat.

We just spent a week at the beautiful Outrigger Laguna Beach Resort at Phuket. This was our first experience at an Outrigger and probably won't be the last as it is obvious that they go out of their way to make it enjoyable and good value.

Our package included the use of the Club which I would highly recommend. This is a separate Thai inspired building overhanging the lagoon where we had breakfast, free drinks after 6.00pm and Thai tapas dishes that were so good that often we did not bother going out for dinner, saving us a fortune.

But the BEST part about this resort were the staff. We have travelled broadly to many places around the world and the staff at this place were the best we've ever experienced by a wide margin. They were friendly, respectful, helpful, polite and could not do enough for us. This does not happen by accident and the management of Outrigger Laguna deserve a huge pat on the back for this achievement. We felt like we were leaving family when we departed the resort.

Room Tip: All rooms at this resort are identical, however you pay more for a beach view than a lagoon view. T...

We have recently stayed at the refurbished Outrigger Laguna Resort in Phuket. First impressions were not too good after a mix up with our booking but that cannot be blamed on the hotel. Once we had the issue sorted we were given a ground floor sea view room, the view and convenience of just walking out your veranda doors on to the beach was priceless. The hotel was very quiet and didnt seem to be too busy as there was no one around after approx. 6pm at night - were did everyone go ?? I think if I was coming back to this hotel I would request a one bedroom suite as I would have really liked a wee bit more room, but that is just me !!! The shuttles around the resort are great, we took it to the other hotels and shopping village and found it not too far to walk into the village when we needed.
