“Great holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014

Our party of 11 arrived here for 2 weeks at the end of January,we arrived very early after a 11 hour flight from gatwick on the Dreamliner.firstly I must say the flight was great and the Dreamliner is definitely the most comfortable plane I have been on.After arriving ahead of schedule we were not surprised that we had to wait a while for our rooms and most of us got them within half hour, our own room took a bit longer but didn't matter in the end as we had a lovely room overlooking the pool( where the bar is!) the only down full to the room was that it was on the 3rd floor and there are no lifts! The beds are very hard even with a topper but I found them comfortable and never had a back ache ( which I usually do at home) We were all inclusive at the hotel but you have to sign receipts after all meals and drinks even though it shows a zero total, I can only assume this is because the hotel only started the all inclusive option in November 2013 and want to see if it is cost effective for them, it is on Thompson uk that have the all inclusive option and there were only a about 20 at anyone week. The hotel is predominantly made up of French so the entertainment is very much for them, there were some lovely bands playing while eating in the restaurant in the evening, but once you eat you couldn't really sit there just to watch them, in saying that the music could still be heard in the lobby area where it really is the only place to sit and drink in the evening. We didn't really join in with the quizzes or karaoke as again it was mainly in French. The entertainment team made no effort with our group during the whole stay, that was probably due to the language barrier.
The food was as good as I have had on previous all inclusive holidays but does become repetitive. The best meal of the day was lunchtime in the a la carte restaurant opposite the beach, you are treated like the paying customers( 99% of them were) good quality food was chosen from the menus including fillet steak! We did eat out a few times but only for a change of scenery, McDonalds is only up the road and a tuk tuk will only cost 200 baht to get there ( around £4) for about 4 of you.dont be tempted to eat at the Indian restaurant just outside the hotel, although very cheap and friendly all the food was tasteless! Nok and joes bar is a must on a Wednesday and Sunday evenings, they put on a great ladyboy show for 150 baht (£3) but if you eat there then the show is free. This is just a short walk from the hotel. My husband had some shirts and trousers made while there from one of the local shops by the hotel, 7 shirts and 2 trousers cost £170. They were perfect and a bargain.
A visit to Patong is a must but if you have children like we did then go before 11pm as it gets a bit seedy and very very busy.
We did the phi phi islands excursion and again this is a must, great day out and the speed boats are a lot of fun.
There were jet skis on the beach by the hotel but we were told by the Thompson rep not to use them as they are not insured and can con you out of money if they choose to blame you out of damage that was previously done.
All in all we had a great time and have never been to a cleaner hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a low floor,as there are no lifts!

If you want silence and peace for your holiday this is your hotel! A little village around the hotel and a long, clean beach, perfect. The hotel is located just near the beach so you have to take a few steps and you are on the beach. There were massages, restaurants, shops, clothing sellers etc on the beach so you need to leave the beach at all!
Our room was on the top floor of the hotel and it was very clean. All floor cleaners were very friendly, they also thought us some thai words! We feel very homely there, leaving home was little sad...;)
Breakfast was very comprehensive and I´m sure everybody finds something to eat. I used the fitness room; it was small but enough to get sweat. I took also part with physical activities which were arranges on the hotel e.g. watersports and dancing; every day was a different program.
For a negative aspect there was a long way to the other beaches. We went to Karon and taxi took 2000 BHT back and forth. But after Karon´s noisy life it was heavenly to come back to the hotel!

If you just want to enjoy the beach and the sun and don't want to leave the resort/beach then this is the place. We spent 3 nights here after having left Kata because it was too busy. We loved this resort, it has 2 huge pools, which our boys ( 8 & 6) loved a fantastic buffet breakfast- which even had gluten free bread for me! (go early and you can have an ocean facing table) The room was huge and more than enough room for an extra bed for our boys. They had lots of free activities- like yoga, aqua aerobics and cooking- we did a yoga class with Jose which was great and they also have table tennis, pool table and a kids club which no-one else used apart from our boys- who spent 2 very enjoyable hours playing in the pool with Zillar ( the boys say hi! they still remember he name!). they also have kayaks for very cheap hire- we took one out for all 4 of us and paddled in the bay and got off at a little beach. the other great thing is that there are heaps of cheap cafes on the beach- we ate at several different ones- all good food. would not recommend the massage therapists on the beach- my husband and I had a less than average massage from women who might have been good at it 15 ys ago but certainly weren't now!- another example I saw one of them massaging a guys leg with one hard while speaking on her mb ph with the other hand! There's good massage therapists in the resort and not much more expensive. We would happily recommend this place and come back. About a 45minute taxi ride to the airport

Room Tip: make the most of the free activities, go for a kayak, have an early breakfast and get a seat near th...

The hotel is situated in small quiet village, away from noisy nightlife, so it is perfect for older people or these seeking restful holiday. BWP is situated practically on the beach, which is long and clean, sea water is mostly clear and clean as well, though sometimes not so, apparently depending upon currents. There are occasional medusas, sometimes even large ones, but I never saw one at the hotel beach vicinity.
Hotel grounds are charming by themselves – there is a garden with variety of plants and even some wildlife, like colourful butterflies, occasional lizard, some birds (you can even observe colourful sunbird feeding on flowers). There are three pools, all of different depth, well-maintained, pool area is not crowded and generally you can find a place there.
Room was spacious, clean, decor was if not very new, but pleasing, of mixed oriental/colonial style. Room is equipped with everything that is necessary, though large space is not always economically employed – there could be more shelf/drawer space for things. And beware of ceramic dispensers and other small paraphernalia in the bathroom – they are inconvenient and breakable. One small chip and they will charge you for damaged goods. This has happened to me and I am not still sure whether it was not chipped by room service or even earlier – I was informed only on check-out – quite a nuisance and spoiled a good day. Bathroom is also very clean and well maintained, though ants visit it quite often, especially if there are any food remnants in the waste basket. But they are not dangerous and not really annoying.
A/C works perfectly well, though a bit noisy. Beds… Well, that is a tragedy. Beds spoiled all nice impressions. They are terribly hard. Mattress itself is hard, but the topping is a joke – it is several layers of some hard, heavy mats so you have a feeling as if you lay on boards. Apparently it is difficult to maintain soft mattresses especially in tropical rainy season, but still something should be done.
Internet is also not the strong point of BWP Bangtao. WiFi free only at the lobby, otherwise very expensive, same as the usage of the hotel computers.
Hotel service was very pleasant and fast, I did not have any problems in communicating in English at any point of the hotel. There was nice touch of welcome and good-bye drink, of welcome fruit platter and fresh orchids on the bed. Quite charming.
Breakfast was of very satisfying variety and quality, service was very fast even during rush hours. Always lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, food was both European and Asian. There are two restaurants and two bars on-site. Pool bar may be slow in service and cocktails may be hit-and-miss in spite of constant checking on the recipes. Except for the breakfast, never ate at the hotel restaurants as there are quite a lot of eateries around. My favourite one was restaurant “Boom”, on the beach, immediately on the right from the hotel. Very simple affair and delicious seafood and Thai dishes. Café de Bangtao, praised by some of the reviewers did not serve as good food as Boom.
There is an on-site massage place at the hotel, but after one try I went to the beach masseuses. Found them better, though prices do not differ much.
About the village itself. Though there is only one street and several side alleys, they cater for all basic necessities: there are three mini-marts, two pharmacies, several shops with souvenirs, clothes, diving equipment and other paraphernalia, massage and fish spa parlours and even several dubious places with well-painted ladies and red lanterns that are tucked away at one of the back alleys. Monday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p. m. there is a night market nearby (some 2-3 km away). To go there, tuk-tuk is advisable. To go to Patong or Phuket town cheapest is hotel shuttle (200 BHT one way, 325 BHT return). Taxi are very expensive: airport or Patong is 700 BHT one way.

Room Tip: Most quiet rooms are in the buildings 4 and 5 and 3, if facing pool bar. Best are first floor rooms...

We stayed 2 weeks in Deluxe Family room (Villa Wing) on March 2010. It was spacious, nice and quiet with separate bedroom for two kids (or adults). Staff was friendly, breakfast was good and both pool areas were clean and never crowded. There was also a great pool bar with underwater seats.

The beach was nice and LONG, and very quiet at the northern end.

We spent New Year's Eve, the day before and the day after at this amazingly situated hotel. We met friends here on New Year's Eve.

First, the good: Steps, literally, from the Andaman, good beach restaurants and a roped-off swimming area. Nice breakfast buffet with good service (I watched some guy YELL at a member of the staff for 20 minutes, probably because his bangers and mash weren't just as they are at home, and she just smiled and nodded graciously), stunning view and regular coffee refills. On-site massages. Good location. We were upgraded to a room with patio doors that opened basically onto the pool with swim-up bar. Service at the bar next to the breakfast area was GREAT.

Now... the bad: I don't know what the deal is, but our room on the ground floor... smelled like a sewer. We tried putting our trash can over the floor drain in the bathroom and it didn't work. I don't understand. But... it was ... distractingly bad. Our friends' room was not as nice, but was 1 floor up and smelled fine. This seemed to be consistent around beachy areas in Thailand. Service was good most places at the hotel but the pool bar was pretty bad.

All around an amazing location and good service!

Room Tip: Not on the ground floor!

There was no rush at the pool and very nice place! We lived in the bungalow. Very clean and big rooms for a five person family. Only minus is that sometimes you have to wait you food/drinks 1 HOUR! But luckily we get free drinks for that.. There were many good restaurants near by the hotel.
