“isolated but so beautiful...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2009

Located in the north of Phuket, maybe of little bit too isolated from bustle and hustle but at least, so charming and so different from many other resorts.
Sala is a little jewel of design, a wonderful property of about 60 villas, most of them with a private pool (and not a plunge pool as it's often the case) and an exquisite decoration.

We stayed in this hotel one week ago with my boyfriend and we had booked for a Sala Villa but on arrival, we have been greated by a perfect staff and received a complimentary upgrading to a One Bedroom Pool Villa. The layout consists on a very private garden with a nice pool. In front of the pool, a modern little villa with a ultra comfy room and a small cosy sitting room, both of these rooms in a delightful scheme of beige and white colors with some touches of purple. Everything is well thinking and you'll find a lot of storage space and plenty of deep sofas for intimate relaxing moments...
Outside, on a side of the pool, you'll have the most sexy bathroom of your life. An open air space with a wonderful bathtub, a rain shower and a unique design really wonderful. A perfect way to have a midnight bath with your lover... However, there is a bad side cause the toilet is in this space as well, behind a wall but still not private enough... (and at night, if you need to go, crossing the garden when it's raining could be a bit annoying...).

The decoration itself, everywhere in the resort, is just amazing. The pieces of furniture are truly original and it gives you the feeling to be in an ultra trendy hotel. Even the public areas of Sala are great and the restaurant is fabulous and don't miss to visit the washrooms, absolutely breathtaing in term of originality... The garden and main pool areas are perfectly maintained with a thousand of romantic corners and original seats suspended on the trees to look at the wild beach and the ocean... So romantic...

Let's talk about the food cause you'll have no other choice than dining at Sala but it's not a big problem cause the two restaurants offer a very extensive menu with reasonnable prices, a bit more expensive than in town, but it worth it cause the food is simply delicious, full of thai flavours and the service is really attentive and nice. Try the thai appetizers for two, a nice and yummy way to start your dinner. Breakfast is very good as well and offers alternative choices than the classic way.

About the staff, everyone will try the best to make your stay memorable. At the reception, the restaurant or in the gardens, everybody here has always a nice smile and i can say the staff is very professionnal and they provide to the guest a real five stars experience.

To coclude, let's say than Sala is a fabulous property, perfect for honeymooners or people who want to relax in a luxurious and very different design. Actually, i've hesitated a long time between four or five points but the housekeeping could be better, it's good but not perfect; the hotel is a little bit too isolated and the toilet in the villa has no door... But this hotel is really affordable and i really recommend this place.

WOW.. Thankfully I did my homework with trip advisor b4 we decided to book Sala. There were a few other resorts we had been advised from friends to go to in Phuket, but after discovering Sala, we could not have chosen better.
From the minute we landed till the minute we left, it was just awesome.
The staff were so so friendly. The service was flawless. The food was so tasty. The Massage was so worth it. The Villas were AMAZING....New, modern, chik & clean..
What u see in the pics actually gives it little justice. When u are there in reality, u just can't wipe the smile off ur face... We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Pool Villa (Bedroom, seperate Living room & of course Private Pool & outdoor lounge area).
The Pool is cleaned every m'ning. The Housekeeping is Jeanie like (u blink & they've cleaned everything). You go out to Patong for the night & they refresh & clean your room again.... they even put the moskito repelant on at nights for you in your outdoor living area.
Granted, the staff may not know English very well, but it's all part of the experiance & there is always someone on call that does speak fluent English if u can't communicate with the staff servicing ur room..
It's hard to impress both me & my hubby after our Honeymoon a year ago in Bora Bora at the Intercontiental 5 star Over Water bungalows (AU$1,200 p/n).
But the Sala Phuket actually impressed us unexpectedly. It's fair to say that Bora Bora was breathtaking for location, but Sala out did it with it's service, privacy & cleanliness..and not to mention cheap cheap cheap!!!!
You even get to pick what scented lotion & incence you want during ur stay... And of course you get to select what style Pillow you want to sleep on... I picked the latex firm...
We really felt like a Prince & Princess in our Private Outdoor Pool area. The Chandelere over the bathtub, the vanity & mirror, the stunning very large pool, even the wallpaper all gives it that heavinly like feel. Almost like ur in another world...
As mentioned by others, it is 45 mins away from the hussle & bussle of Patong, but that's not a big deal as everynight at 5pm, the Sala provides a shuttle bus for 30 MYR. So u get down to Patong at 6pm & it waits to bring u back up at 10;30. Over 4 hrs to do some shopping & dinners is just sufficient. Of course we did it 2 nights in a row.
I could right so much more, but i can only say that it was a very worthy resort..
The Sala Phuket is one of a kind.. It's AMAZING,,,
We have already told all our friends & family about it & can't wait for our next visit there.

we spent 3 nights at Sala and stayed in one of the sala pool villas. the villa really is exceptional, beautifully designed - love the private pool, outdoor bathtub and shower. the food is fantastic too. the service could be better, while many of the staff were warm and friendly, the reception particularly was not very helpful or "on the ball" when it came to requests and queries we had.

we booked the sala package online and selected the thai dinner as the free add on. when we checked in, the reception informed us to simply make the reservation with the restaurant when we wanted the dinner. so we did. we decided to have dinner on our last night. so we went, and only after we had sat down at the restaurant, did they come up to us and inform us that we don't have the thai dinner as part of the package, but have the couples spa massage instead (this they tell us when we're already checking out the next morning!). after alot of to-and-froing the reception girl came over to the restaurant to clarify the matter before finally agreeing to give us the dinner. that experience was very dissapointing and was probably the only black spot of the trip.

that aside, the location IS quite remote, so stay there only if you're not planning to leave the resort or venture very far out. its a great place for a romantic getaway though. the villas and the entire resort setting is beautiful.

great 3 night stay at sala phuket. had pool villa and it was perfect-enjoyed the outdoor shower. the pool was clean (cleaned every morning) and the water temperature perfect. the room is smartly laid out. the food, spa and service are all top of the line and couldn't have asked for anything more. the location is distant from anything-something we very much wanted but certainly not for everyone. very romantic long weekend for an old married couple. would go back in a heartbeat.

Plus - very nice pool villas, pool water is clear (indigo pearl pool water is cloudy - salt water), contemporary design, attentive service personnel, clean, great outdoor pools, beachfront property. yummy food. and dinner at JW Marriott too, just a 5 min walk down the beach.

Plus or minus (depending on you) - resort is very far north. to reach patong, it is a 45 mins cab ride. this is plus for me because the beach outside the hotel is extremely quiet, but if you want to shop/looking for nightlife, then you got to take a long cab ride.

Minus - flies and bugs, they are everywhere. Not entirely sure what they can do. I am sure it is the same with the other resorts. Other than this negative point, I am totally happy with this resort. Will go back.

What an amazing experience! We spent 5 nights in a Garden Pool Villa at Sala Phuket and highly recommend this exceptional resort.

The design and architecture is unique -- clean, contemporary styling that creates a calm space in which to relax and enjoy the warm weather. The gardens and facilities were beautifully maintained and blended in perfectly with the surrounding environment.

We would highly recommend paying the extra for a pool villa. There was something really special about the amount of privacy it provided. In addition to having your own pool, the outdoor rainshower was probably our favorite thing. High-quality bedding and linen provided a perfect nights' sleep. We also loved the attention-to-detail the villa offered in terms of the little extras (hat, beach bag, fluffy beach towells, beach mat, sarong, etc.). The bath products were the nicest we have had at any hotel -- not small and packaged, but generous vases of quality aromatherapy products.

The spa was sensational. The environment was very unique and the treatments were excellent as well. We received a complimentary massage with our package, and went back for another later during our stay because it was so nice.

From the moment we were met at the airport, the staff were just so helpful and friendly. They made everything perfect and nothing was too much trouble.

We were celebrating a 40th birthday and Chef Jan organised the roof-top table for us as part of their SALA intimate dining experience -- we would like to thank Pu for her wonderful attentive service. The 'Siam Selection' was delicious with a wide variety of Thai dishes to sample. As a surprise they gave us a chocolate birthday cake which was a lovely touch at the end of our evening.

In terms of value-for-money, the restaurants and spa were about the same as we pay in Australia. The only thing that is expensive is wine (like all of Thailand), so we mostly chose from their great range of cocktails instead.

We did like that it felt very remote and was much quieter than expected. Apart from walking the long stretch of beach, we didn't leave the resort once during our stay, so can't comment on restaurants in the local area. We were travelling to other parts of Thailand afterwards so felt we could isolate ourselves and indulge in all the special things Sala provided for us. There are shuttle services to Patong if you feel like getting out and about, and the hotel staff can also organise private cars or taxis.

We will never forget the amazing memories from our stay at Sala Phuket. I had tears in my eyes as we were departing.

Please go!
