“Love this resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

Our second trip to the resort with family and friends. Loved it even more as it was raining and the weather was perfect (with nothing to do except in the pool with beer). Kids loved the pool and activities. Kids loved the cycling track and explored the beach. Trips to Patong were good with great food experience.

Room Tip: Ground floor pool have private plunge pool, but the view from the higher floor is awesome. So take t...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with friends. It is fully serviced daily (free coffee tea )and equipped with full cooking facilities and 2 separate bathrooms. 1 king bed in main bedroom with extra large spa bath, separate shower. Other bedroom has own ensuite and 2 double beds. 3 large pools with attentive staff offering towels, water, drinks and food. Located right on the beach was great with gentle sea breezes. Several restaurants and plenty of activities. International prices on everything with +10% and +7% on all so not cheapest. Location is a bit of a concern as non permit taxis charge exorbitant prices. This starts at the airport. A maximum 15 min transfer should ost no more than B200 but B500 is the norm. Say no and walk outside and you will get one for B300. Hotel does not offer airport transfers! The hotel should alao offer a free transfer service to Phuket town but they don't. THB700 each on their bus is outrageous. They do offer a free transfer to a small shopping village nearby. Supermarket prices here at Turtle market are more than 100%+ mark up so be aware. Coffee Club here has great coffee and good food. Go to bathroom and pick up a free voucher book that u can use at most shops here.
Back to hotel. The restaurants are great. We ate at Cuccina, Italian food. Very good. Pool side snacks good also. We also ate at Renaissnace hotel nearby to have something different. Very good. I do recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Marriott Beach Club in Phuket for one week with my girlfriend. The resort is excellent in all aspects I can think to mention;
The PROS: Beautiful facilities, great activities, wonderful staff and gorgeous pools. We scheduled horse back riding on the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving and sea canoeing from the desk next to the concierge. It was all billed to our room and we ate like kings at several of the restaurants. They have fantastic food.
The CONS: The beach was actually closed because of the currents. So there was no swimming at this beach. It did make for a very secluded stretch of beautiful beach though. It was also a minimum thirty minute cab ride to do the activities we did, but the ride let us view the scenery. It did get tiring after a long day of diving though.
So I would recommend this location if you want isolation. The food and staff were unmatched. They are wonderful people.

Room Tip: We had a villa and it was very quiet. You can get lost in landscape that resembles a jungle.

We've stayed here for one week three years in a row, and this year we're going back for two weeks, because one is just not enough! This place is paradise!

Seriously, I'm tempted to write a bad review just so I can have this place all to myself. This is an isolated resort, so some things need to be clarified. Young singles who want to party should head to Patong; this is not the place for you. You'll be bored and frustrated that you have to travel for an hour to get to the bars. There is a dive shop on site, but it's a long way from good dive sites, so if you're on vacation for serious diving, you should head to Phi Phi or Similan on a liveaboard. If you are looking for a busy vacation, you'r better off staying on the south side of the island, as it's easier to get places. Mai Khao beach is beautiful but it is not a good swimming beach. If this is what you want, stay elsewhere.

If you want to chill by the pool in an immaculate setting with fantastic horticulture with your loved ones, then it is the place for you. The Phuket Beach Club and JW Marriott is a family atmosphere. They have a kids club and daily circus training led by "G" and "P," two of the coolest guys you'll ever meet. Any couple who likes kids and doesn't need to go clubbing every night will also have a wonderful time here. If you want to head out one day for diving or snorkeling, it can be easily booked, as can elephant/jungle/ waterfall treks, and whitewater rafting. Fun, fun, fun! Don't plan to leave the resort for more than 3 outings if you stay here a week, you'll just be missing too much at the resort!

The food is more expensive than if you stay in Patong or Phuket Town and eat at privately owned restaurants, but compared to western resorts, it is quite reasonable. Room service dinner runs $40-60 for a family of four depending on what you get. There are 7 restaurants on site! The Andaman Grill and Ginja are special occasion sort of places where you can really throw down some cash. They are good one time each per stay unless money is not a factor. The Italian restaurant, the Teppanyaki/Sushi, and the Marriott Cafe are upscale, medium range restaurants. The quality of the food and service is excellent. Figure $15-30 per person, depending on what you order. The Siam Deli and pool restaurants are about the same cost as room service. There is a late night stylish bar right on the beach, but it's relatively quiet most of the time.

The spa is nice, really overpriced, considering that you can get a 1 hour massage on the beach for 400 baht.

Room Tip: I've only ever stayed in the timeshare villas, which are awesome! I don't think you can go...

We stayed at this timeshare for 5 nights on our second leg of our two week honeymoon. We arrived on a Saturday around midnight and everyone was there to greet us. Check in was smooth and she even offered to give us a better room with a view later that night since it was still being cleaned. Long story short, she gave us the second villa and we moved all our stuff 2 buildings down to find out it was still dirty, so we had to wait until the next day to move. No big deal, we were just tired and wanted to go to bed, so it was a little annoying to move around so much. She had the best intentions, so I didnt get mad at her.
Overall the villas are pretty amazing, like all marriott timeshares. We were able to see 2 different villas and they both had totally different decoration, so i was nice to see they put effort into the decor and make you feel like you are in thailand. It was only me and my husband and we had a 2 bedroom villa. The kitchen was perfect size, the living room spacious, dining for 6, even a table for 4 on the balcony which we used a few times to enjoy the rainy day.
It was pretty nice that we shared the hotel with the JW. We were able to use "their" facilities, which in reality it did not feel like were were 2 different resorts. Everyone was super nice. We only ate at the Siam Deli a couple of times to try their food, and their Pad Thai was pretty awesome and cheaper that the pricey Thai restaurant on site. So we were happy with that.
The first 2 days it rained non stop, so we drove to Phuket town to find a restaurant and grocery store. Little did we know that everyone is closed on sundays, so we ate in a hole in the wall that was pretty yummy and cheap. The grocery store is about 20 minutes driving from the hotel. Oh I forgot to mention, you DEFINITELY need a car if you like to move around and see other stuff. The hotel definitely can set up day tours to islands, kayaks, etc, but we like to be on our own schedule so having a car was perfect. We did go on the day tour to Koh Phi Phi Island which was pretty amazing. It was the first day of "good" weather, and fortunately it did not rain the entire day we toured the islands. Phuket town is about a 45-55 minute drive from the hotel, Patong beach is about 1:10 from the hotel, so you need time to visit these places.
Overall, since I do not have much of a choice with my marriott timeshare, I would say i would definitely come back to this resort. I would definitely get a car again and would visit Phuket Town and other beaches more next time. We were there a short time and it rained a lot so we didn't make an effort to go see other beaches. Besides, we were tired from 6 days of full sight seeing in beijing so we were happy to stay in and relax in our nice villa and pools at the JW marriott.
We took a cooking class at the hotel. We liked it a lot since we didn't know how to cook Thai food but love eating it. It was about $78 per couple, which is pretty much what we paid for a class here in Houston, so we went for it. I recommend it if you like to learn new cooking styles.
Also, the breakfast was HUGE. They had a lot of food to choose from but it was super expensive in my opinion. It was about $60 per person. We ate there the first day because we didn't have groceries and it was a rainy day. The rest of the stay we made our own eggs and/or ate yogurt and cereal. Maybe it was nice to eat a lot that one day, but we definitely did not think it was worth $60 each morning for breakfast.

This resort was great. Rooms were very large and clean. The staff went out of their way to help with any requests. Free parking, Free bottled water in your room everyday. Washer and dryer turned out to be very useful, especially with two small children. The beach here was not swimmable, maybe because it was May. Red flags everyday so we spent almost the whole time poolside. The pools are beautiful and very relaxing. The Spa here is VERY pricey. Everyone would get their massages out on the beach for 400 baht an hour rather than at the hotel Spa. Rained almost every day on and off. The rain here turned out to be something we looked forward to while sitting on the patio in the morning having coffee or while walking around with the kids who loved getting soaked (usually in our bathing suits anyway).
The hotel restaurants and surrounding shops (turtle village) were very expensive. Turtle Village is extremely close by, I really didn't understand the point of a shuttle. A rental car was a must here. Tesco shopping center is a great place to get your groceries, 40 baht for a beer as opposed to 200 baht near the hotel and at Turtle Village. 25 baht for a whole pineapple at Tesco! We adjusted to driving on the left side of the road easily, so don't be intimidated. Also, Souveniers are a lot less expensive out of the hotel area (South).
Other info:
Kok Chang Elephant Trekking/Safari was a great place to ride an elephant. Half way through the trek they had me mount the elephant bareback, very scary yet awesome! The owner is very friendly. He also has a restaurant right across the street. Food was some of the best Thai we had while in Phuket.

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms/apartments have 2nd entrance with very nice patio and walkway.
