Great hotel for families with kids. Just so many options to keep the little ones entertained.
We went with Thompson and although our son was too young for kid's club (he was 19 months) it was great to have the Toddler Time sessions (3 a week) - basically just an hour in the creche, chance to play with the toys and other kids. The Thompson soft play wee bit was also good for a little break from the sun in the afternoon. The splash pool was great with the slides etc and very easy to find a sunbed at - we used that one every day. The playground was great but the frame was quite dated with lots of hazards and it was open so we needed to follow our son around. The bouncy castles (€1 charge) at night were great too. Being directly on such a safe lovely beach was great - expect our toddler decided he didn't like sand! The children's entertainment at night could have been better though, just wasn't very toddler-friendly - it started a bit late and was very game show format. It was on a raised stage and the kids sat around the edge but weren't allowed on the stage - but there was nothing to stop them climbing up. Meant we couldn't really leave our toddler sitting there as he just didn't know not to climb up. Was disappointed there was no mini disco as well as he would have loved it! Ended up just having follow him round the playground all night instead.
Just outside the hotel there are lovely pony rides. Really well looked after ponies for Spain, including a couple of Shetlands. You pay €5 and lead your child round the little ring a few times. Our toddler leapt off after one circuit but was lovely to have the chance!
Food was very good for all inclusive. We had breakfast most mornings in the indoor buffet near our room and it had a good choice - better for continental or fruit (sausages etc weeren't great) and had fresh pancakes etc prepared in front of you as well. For lunch there was a choice of the pizza place at the beach, the bbq restaurant near the road, the 'fast food' style buffet (not great - very greasy) at the beach (and possibly the indoor buffet). The first 2 were a la carte and the pizza place was the best. Lovely pizzas and pastas, great setting, all inclusive drinks served in bottles by waiter service - we went there 5 days out of 7. You can have one a la carte dinner in the pizza place and one in the bbq near the road each week - breaks up the week and food in both was good. You do have to book the day before though. For the other night the indoor buffet restaurant had the best choice but we much preferred the outdoor one near the beach (which was the fast food style buffet in the day) - same food, limited choice but much nicer setting. Each night had a theme (mexican, spanish etc) so it meant there was a bit of variety. Some were better than others, but it was generally typical 3 star spanish hotel half-board food - not great but tolerable for a week.
Rooms were nice, really really small but we expected it. We paid extra for a sea view and were in the block above the reception. Good location - nice view but not too loud near the night entertainment. Wish we hadn't bothered with the sea view, we just avoided the balcony with a toddler as was quite high up and felt a bit risky!
All in all the hotel was like a zoo - pretty sure kids under 7 (it was June) outnumbered adults. Never been anywhere like it! And they were all still going at midnight! Would be a nightmare without kids but if you holiday happiness depends on keeping your kids entertained it was a really good choice of hotel!
Avoid the blocks on the beach near the nighttime entertainment - spoke to several people who were ha...
