“Not the Best, but not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Just returned from two weeks at this hotel, the room we allocated had been refurbished with laminate floor and new bathroom which was good but still not a 4* bedroom. The room was cleaned everyday to a good standard with no issues. The food in the restaurant is well cooked and has an average variety, nothing special. Public areas of the hotel are clean and well kept. The pools were always cold due to them being shaded by trees so head to the beach where you can walk out a long way in warm water. We are a couple and went in early September to avoid the UK scholl holidays, but alas the place was still overrun with kids....

Dear guest,

As to us the vision of our clients is the clue to complete guest-satisfaction, we are very grateful for the time and effort you spent writing this review. We are fully aware that this is the best way to achieve superiority and excellence in our daily services.

We are sorry we couldn´t surpass your expectations which is our goal. Nevertheless we are pleased that you liked our facilities and installations as also you find that the culinary offer was satisfying.

We continuously strive to deliver high standards and supply splendid holidays. Even so we understand that each guest has his particular preferences, wishes and needs. The Iberostar Playa de Muro hotel is a top 4-star all-inclusive accommodation located on the beautiful Muro beach in Alcudia. It has several solarium terraces, Jacuzzi and 5 swimming pools surrounded by gardens; it boasts a wide range of sports and leisure activities. The quality of the gastronomy and the friendliness and professionalism of its staff are other reasons that make this hotel one of the favorites for families visiting the island on holiday. Nevertheless, we understand that due to our child friendliness for you this might not be the best location for your dream holiday. Therefore we would like to point out that in Iberostar we have “Only Adults Hotels” and for coming occasions, we would like to offer you a very personal booking guidance through our call center, to make sure you become what you actually desire. We also invite you to visit our web page as it can orient you when planning your next holiday.

Once more we want to say how worthy your opinion is to us and thank you again for sharing it on tripadvisor. Iberostar looks forward to serving you in the future and we send you our best regards.

Yours faithfully,

Stayed at this hotel between the 29/8/2012 and 6/09/2012 and found it to be a good value for money hotel. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. We were half board and both breakfast and dinner had plentiful supplies of edible food, we were pleasantly surprised. Unfortunatly we had bad weather with very little sunshine which ruined the holiday as there is very little to do in Majorca when the suns not out. But as for the hotel I would recomend it.

Just returned from our 3rd holiday with this hotel. Our 8yr old son had another wonderful time, he took part in the Maxi club games, played in the three pools and spent time on the wonderful beach as well as making lots of new friends - languages were not a problem to any of the children!
The public rooms have had a makeover since last year and look great. The food was wonderful with loads and loads of choices for the whole family. We had a double room with a sofa bed for our son and there was plenty of space for all of us to move around in, very clean and well presented by the maid on a daily basis.
Sunbed/towels - recommend using hotel towels as these can be changed daily at the poolside and are not hanging around wet with that 'damp' smell.
The Spa facilites are fantastic and well worth a visit or ten!!
The beach is fantastic, clean with gently sloping sand. The sea is warm, just like getting into a warm bath! Adults can walk out to sea to thigh height and then it becomes shallow again (calf height) so great for kids of all ages.

If you are thinking of going here - We hope you enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: Ask the reception staff if you can look at the room first, and also one which is the next grade up f...

I just arrived from Palm the Mallorca.
We got a family room. The size and the space was good but it so far from the reception and the restaurant. We took the all inclusive system. The food was good but was the same during the week. At the last day, we decided to get some sandwiches. It's a good hotel for family! Big pools, wonderful beach, good food but nothing exceptional! Only a good hotel!

Room Tip: Try to get a room closer to the reception and the restaurantes.

Dear Andrea,

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion in Tripadvisor, we strongly believe that listening to our guests is the clue to success.

We are delighted to understand from your review that you were satisfied with our services although your stay could have been even more enjoyable if we would have known about your wish to be closer to the reception and the restaurant. For coming occasions we invite you to contact us with any require you might have. As in Iberostar Playa de Muro we lay much worth on the personal and close service Iberostar is famous for, we find it a pity to hear that for your liking the room was a bit far from the main facilities. We would have been enchanted to look for a convenient solution to the matter.

On the other hand, we thank you for highlighting our spectacular pools, good food and excellent location right by the wonderful beach.

It strengthens our determination to understand from your comments that you have enjoyed your stay at our hotel and we will take in consideration your commentary regarding the variety in the restaurant. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in a not too distant future and surprise you positively by achieving your complete satisfaction.

Yours faithfully,

On the whole a lovely hotel but not perfect. Of slight annoyance I must mention the reception staff, on arrival the man who dealt with us was excellent but any subsequent dealings with the bald receptionist and the women highlighted their complete lack of customer focus. You felt as if your presence was a hindrance to them, not that they were there to help or assist the customer. It is for this reason I have not given the highest rating.
I note a previous comment about the beds been hard, yes they are but you can ask for a mattress topper. I Wish I had!
Other than the above the hotel provided an excellent holiday experience. There are shops and restaurants to hand and a fridge in your room if you are half board. There is a spar with a large indoor pool Jacuzzi and hot and cold plunge pools.
The location is fantastic for the beach with three access points over a small raised area planted with pine trees, very scenic. The beach is clean with white powdery sand. The sea was warm very clear and an inviting turquoise blue. It is very shallow so suitable for children. There are the usual pedalos for hire. The view from the room over the sea was picture perfect.
In the room we had an exceptionally large bathroom at the expense of the living area but it was clean with very good air con and BBC1 and ITV1 on the TV and an effective fridge.
The pool could be better its long and narrow and actually divided by a wall so you can not swim from one end to the other, this is because it is on uneven land. There are large sun decks with sufficient sun beds although the best will be claimed early. A second pool with sun deck and loungers ensures there is sufficient room for everyone even at high season.
I stayed in high season and was impressed by the work of the animation team, they were not dragging you off your sunbed to join in but are visible highlighting activities that were aimed at very young children, adults or teenagers. Its the first time my sullen teenagers have ever joined in and they loved the experience when they did. A young lad of 18 worked with the teenagers and this really seemed to help the vibe.
The professional shows on an evening were varied and very entertaining especially the ABBA tribute band who also did the 80s night.
Last but not least the food. There was so much variation you couldn't get bored. They even did lobster and dressed crab as well as chefs cooking steak , veal, pork or chicken in front of you. The service in the restaurant was quick and efficient.
I have stayed in a number of 4 star hotels and felt this hotel was a very good representative of its rating. We all have individual expectations, I would say mine are high but I couldn't compare this hotel to 5 star as they are a little out of my league.
I hope this review helps with providing a clear impression of the hotel and its facilities.

We have just returned from another enjoyable holiday to the Iberostar Playa de Muro and will probably be returning. Several of our friends and relatives have also been on our recommendation. The location is superb, with the hotel facing onto the long white sand beach and a sensational blue sea which is quite shallow yet fine for swimming and incredibly warm. The hotel is very attractive with a choice of pools and plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The buffet restaurants are excellent with a wide choice of food available and the waiters are both polite and attentive. Many guests return year after year and it is easy to see why. However, although the hotel has upgraded its' facilities year by year, there are several areas which need to be noted for further improvement. This year, we noticed a large increase in the number of young children in the hotel and many evenings our meal was spoilt by the constant crying and disturbance of young children running around the restaurant, obviously a nuisance to other guests and a danger to themselves with people carrying hot food. We feel that it was almost bad enough to put us off returning to the hotel again as it seemed almost like a creche. One solution I would suggest is that families with small children could attend the earlier meal session in restaurant 1 so that the adults could enjoy their meal a little later in restaurant 2. We were also disturbed late in the evening by children crying and running up and down corridors outside our room. We have grandchildren so are not anti -children but they should not take priority at a 4 star hotel where adults have paid a lot of money for their holiday. My second complaint would be about the hotel rooms. Although Iberostar have upgraded their public areas, which are beautiful and well kept, the same cannot be said for the rooms, which really do not warrant a 4 star rating. We had no sooner arrived than we had to find a technician to fix our balcony door, which wouldn't open and then an electrical socket in the bathroom which was loose (and even after attention, remained loose!). The general finish of grouting around the bath was quite shoddy. We are an active and healthy couple in our 60's who have travelled a lot and therefore have experienced a degree of discomfort on or our travels but I would recommend a review of the mattresses/ beds as they were hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. My husband had to swop our mattresses as the springs were noticeable in mine and I also had a ripped sheet on my bed at one point. The pillow are cheap and really hard as well. In previous years we have actually paid a considerable excess to upgrade to a premium room. Whilst giving you a better sea view, the quality of the furnishings remain the same. The beach bar near the children's pool serves a very limited and unhealthy range of snacks (ie chips. burger, sugary drink) and could do with reviewing their options in view of the current emphasis on healthy eating! The smaller adults and children's pool was often impossible to use by both smaller children and adults as it was often filled by older children and parents jumping around on enormous air beds and playing forceful ball games. The pool was hardly ever visited by a lifeguard. There really needs to be some sanctions so that everyone can enjoy the facilities they have paid for. We love the hotel and are quite sorry to have to raise these points but we could see it going from bad to worse unless the management pay attention to the detail.

Room Tip: make sure you're nearer the sea than the road
