“A great place to celebrate just the two of us!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

It was my husbands 60th birthday and our 10th wedding anniversary. We were on holiday in Westward Ho! and I had found this hotel on the internet before we went so I booked lunch and afternoon tea. We had a great time, the food was excellent and the staff were very welcoming. We got there early and had a walk round the outdoor sculptures, free admission if you are eating there. A great location, so quiet and relaxing. After lunch we went to see more sculptures and the indoor art exhibition. We were the only ones for tea, but it had such a great selection and not boring sandwiches but lovely canape style savouries and lots of delicious cakes. A lovely day and we would thoroughly recommend it and the 3 course lunch is such a great price.

We hadn't stayed at Broomhill for more than three years but always enjoyed our time here and so returned for a two night break on the 7th and 8th of June. The hotel was every bit as good as we remembered and is well worth a visit.
The owners run the hotel and restaurant in an informal but very welcoming way with the help well trained and helpful staff. The emphasis now seems to be on 'a restaurant with rooms' and our room was large and well appointed and provided with a hospitality tray. The en suite was miniscule but had high quality fittings and the shower delivered lashings of hot water.
We ate in the restaurant on the first night. The menu is short but provides a varied choice and the food and service were excellent.
if you have any interest in art the Broomhill Art Hotel with the gallery and sculpture park will provide a welcome break in secluded surroundings.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

Myself and my husband stayed here the weekend after Easter. The hotel was very quiet with just us and another couple. The owners and staff we friendly but unobtrusive and we were allowed to wander about as we pleased.

The rooms are pretty basic regarding furnishings and decor as was the en suite, and given the historic proportions of the rooms and absence of double glazing a bit nippy by modern warmth standards.

The hotel and gardens are adorned with art work and sculptures which range from the bizarre to the fabulous and are artistically arranged throughout.

The gardens are lovely and are very much work in progress as the scale is such that maintainance is on going, but the wonderful natural look of the woodland and the variety of spring flowers was amazing.

The food was of very high standard and the menu was varied and interesting. Non residents frequent the restaurant in the evening which has a very relaxed and intimate atmosphere, and it is obvious that people travel some distance to eat at this excellent restaurant, the quality and ambience of which is very similar to restaurants were your would pay considerably more than £25 per head! The breakfasts are of similar high quality.

We had a great time and will definitely be returning, the weekend package is a bargain, I would highly recommend.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2012

We took our three children here for two nights at October half term. We had a really long drive and arrived after 11. We had to carry in our youngest child asleep and all the bags, and I was really shocked that the two members of staff - the owner included, watched us struggle up the stairs without offering to help. The food was pleasant. The rooms we stayed in were tired and I wouldn't want to sleep there again. The setting is lovely and local beaches, such as Croyde can be accessed easily. The evening meal in the restaurant was enjoyable. Perhaps just a little more smiling from some of the staff would help?

We've just spent a long weekend at the excellent Broomhill Arts hotel. The owners and staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you but are never intrusive. The food was truly amazing (We were on a special weekend deal) and the price of drinks is really reasonable. The setting is stunning and you must spend time wandering around the sculpture gardens - Even worth visiting if you are not staying at the hotel. Make sure that you seek out the Mike Roles installation as it is brilliant. Can't think of one negative comment, had a great weekend.
