Having previously stayed at one of the low budget Disney Hotels we were slightly apprehensive about staying at the Davy Crockett Ranch but we could not have had a better stay. The check-in process was a bit slow and we took quite a while to get our keys but after that we loved the place. The accomodation was great with a ensuite double for the adults and a 3 bed bedroom for the kids with their own toilet and shower. Cooking facilities were fine and living space was more than adepquate. Outside there was a picnic table and Bbq which provided a great place to sit with a glass of wine.

The surroundings were very green and all the kids enjoyed the walk to the main complex which had a great indoor simming pool, an indoor tennis court, a small farm, a playground and a shop. All the kids loved going to the indoor pool to finish off the day and the smallest loved the animals in the farm. Goofy made an appearance one night which was a real bonus when we came out of the pool.

Each morning there was a 2 minute walk to pick up the breakfast provided which was 2 baguettes, a Croissant and a roll each with coffee, hot chocolate, milk and orange juice. This was perfect for starting the day and easily got us all through until lunch. We didn't eat at the Ranch as we had taken all our own food so I can't comment on the food and the price.

All in all we has a wonderful holiday and the Davy Crockett Ranch surpassed all our expectations and we won't hesitate to go back.

We prefer to travel by car so the fact that it is oof-site did not bother us and we were pleasantly surpirsed at how near and easy it was to get to the park - basically one motorway junction which took about 5mins.

We were expecting our premium cabin to be similar to a mobile home with Keycamp / Eurocamp etc .( We went directly from a Keycamp mobile in Brittany, to Davy Crockett ) But it was much much better! More space, more home comforts etc. Air con, tv, dishwasher, heated towel rails etc were great. The weather wasn't good, so we didn't use the BBQ or decking. Kids liked the pool - it seemed warm enough to us. We used the dishwasher regularly cos we kept running out of glasses. A hair dryer was available at reception, for a deposit. It was a nuisance having to delay to return it on departure. There was no laundry facilities, which seems strange for self catering accommodation. Most days there was no queue for breakfast, but there was a queue the day I went when it opened at7.30.
Overall this was a great choice for a family of 5, we had 2bedrooms, self catering facilities, and a comfortable respite from the busy parks.

Davy Crockett is located close to Disneypark, 10 min drive by car. You can park for free with the hotelvoucher. The park is is very good for a familiy with childeren!
The parc is set in different area's, all with own breakfastcorner. Every morning you can get your breakfast in the corner. the brekfast is simple, but good!
There is also a supermarket, but is really expensive(3.9 euro for a bottle of cola)
My bungalow was a new one( 1223)and it was very good. It had an update. It had a dishwasher and a microwave. The swimmingpool was fun, but a little bit cold.

Room Tip: ask for a new premium bungalow

We stayed in a premium lodge at the Davy Crockett Ranch with our 3 children. The cost was brill as it was on offer (worth checking when booking) and worked out cheaper than the normal cabins. Our accommodation comprised of 2 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms/toilets, living/dining area and basic kitchen. Plenty of space for 5. All was very clean and well maintained, with a barbeque and veranda area outside. Only thing missing was our welcome pack of toilettries (arrived on our last day!). Breakfast is buffet style, collected from a shack at the entrance to the cabin area and consisted of croissant, bioche, milk, jam and chocolate spread, choc drink, juice and stick loaf. Nothing hot, but plenty of it. If you are thinking of taking some of this as sandwiches to the Park, just be aware you are not meant to take your own food or drink in and it may be confiscated!! Food and drink in the Park are EXTREMELY expensive (5 icecreams came to £15.60), so it's worth the risk! There are lockers for hire and a picnic area outside the Park.
About the Park itself - busy, busy, busy! Be prepared for queues, and reading other reviews, the advantage of being in a Park Hotel (not Davy Crockett) is that you get to meet the Disney characters hassle free - something which definately does not happen in the Park itself. My children are not the pushy sort (neither am I) so conseqently it was nearly impossible to get near the characters 'out and about'. We did queue tho to see Mickey and Minnie for the 'necessary' photo. Quite a few of the rides were out of commission/had technical difficulties, but I think we did most of them in 3 days. To be honest, we wont go back as the Theme parks in the UK are just as good, more accessible, less hassle and cheaper!! But I guess most children want to go to Disney at some point.....
PS - You need a car here as there is no shuttle to DLP

Room Tip: Check offers on higher quality cabins.

Just returned from a 4 night stay and enjoyed our stay at Davy Crockett very much. The cabin was a comfortable haven after a full day of people, queues, and crowds. It was so nice to put the kids down to bed, and then be able to relax on the deck or sofa, and then sleep in our own bedroom.
Our Premium cabin was impeccably clean when we arrived, and had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen and eating/living area. 1st bedroom had a double bed, the other had 3 singles and a 4th rollaway tucked under one of them. The sofa was not a pull out, but could have easily slept another. 2 full baths, one with the toilet separate - very handy. The bathroom in the double bedroom had a wonderful sink that was designed to be a baby bath. Water spout pulled out and had a trigger for a shower spray. Also great for handwashing things. Each bathroom had a heating ladder for warm towels or drying swimsuits.
The kitchen was small, but well equipped with dishes, eating utensils, pots and pans. The stove (4 rings), coffee maker, water kettle, dishwasher, and fridge/freezer were all in very good condition and were not more than 2 or 3 years old. The wood deck attached to the cabin was a good size, had a picnic table, and the bbq was great for dinner and roasting marshmallows.
Staff at the ranch were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our request for more towels was fulfilled surprisingly fast. The pool was good fun. Kiddie arm bands, floating noodles, kickboards were provided as a courtesy.
My advice; bring your own coffee, coffee filters (size #4), knife, veg peelers, scissors, bottle opener/corkscrew, tongs, charcoal for bbq, paper or foil for pack lunches, and beach towels if you plan to use the pool. As many have said, the breakfast is ample with breads, juice, milk and jams. If you want sliced meats and cheese to make your sandwiches, or bbq for dinner there is a large grocery store 10 min away by car. Yes there is a market, and restaurant on the ranch, but the prices are high. (as you would expect...after all it is Disney)
If you want luxury, this is not the place for you. For us, as a family of 4 with 2 young kids (6 and 4) I was very happy that this self-catering option was available. We took advantage of it and came prepared. For me, the mediocre food at astronomical prices would have taken away from my ability to enjoy our holiday.
We would absolutely return to Davy Crockett.

Room Tip: Premium cabin upgrade was worth it

We arrived at 2pm, after a three and a half hour drive from Calais. There was no queue at reception and although our cabin wasn't ready the very friendly lady was happy to check us in and give us our park tickets. She told me everything I needed to know regarding our stay and off we went to Disneyland. The Disney parks are only a 10 minute drive away and it is well signposted. We returned around 8pm to collect our keys, I think everyone had the same idea because reception was heaving and it took around half an hour to get sorted.
The two bedroom cabin was adequate for two adults and two children and had everything you would expect from self catering accommodation. The complex is huge so don't consider staying here without a car. The only bad point about our cabin, number 178, is that we had to wash the ants out of the bath each time we wanted a shower. I should imagine the problem wasn't common to other cabins.
In regards to the facilities, the pool was nice as long you can tolerate freezing cold water, it was a little too cold for me so I stuck to the hot tub. The grocery store had a good selection and was only a little over priced. A good alternative is the 'Casino' supermarket just off of the A4 at exit 12, the one before the ranch. They had everything and were cheap (the petrol was also 10 cents cheaper than the motorway garages). We purchased cereals and milk to have for breakfast and used the bread and jam from the hotel breakfast for a packed lunch, thus avoiding being extorted by the Disney restaurants.
All in all this was an ok place to stay, it was an easy drive to the parks and the cabins were comfy and quiet at night.

though.
