“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

If you believe that in this globalised world all luxury hotels seem to be alike, try this hidden gem. The ultimate romantic hide-away as well as a very friendly and efficient family hotel. Whatever you look for the service is very personalised and adapt itself inmediately to your individual needs. The concierge service is as good as it gets. The hotels recommendations for day-trips, winery visits and restaurants spot on, without any comercial motivation, which makes sure you get to know this wonderful region as if you were a local. If you decide to have a dinner at the hotel, you will be most surprised by Denise's cooking skills, which as far as i am concerned rank among the best you can encounter in this world. Just get youself pampered and enjoy ! ( on a small note the need for scales in the bathroom for this kind of trip seems somewhat questionable)

Room Tip: Try one of the vaulted suites.

My wife and I are crazy cyclo-tourist. So we arrived with our bikes. We hooked up with another even crazier cyclist who loves hill climbs staying at the hotel. Denise and Mareeka, all the staff we encountered were 100%. I observed the effort Denise shows each and every one of her guest and her staff take her example. Dinner at the. Castle is a fabulous experience and not typical Piemontese. We loved our stay and will return.

This place is absolutely gorgeous! Every corner on the estate is full of character. The rooms are immaculate and full of charm. Denise's attention to detail is impeccable. She is a great resource regarding places to see and things to do! Words can't describe just how pretty this place truly is...my husband and I had a wonderful time there. It was our 20th anniversary and our touring of Italy ended in Sinio... a lasting impression that will always keep us longing for more. Lizabeth

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with any of the rooms. They all are lovely.

This is an amazing Hotel, run by the lovely Denise and her fab staff. I really didn't want to leave this Hotel, we stayed for two nights and had great service from all the staff and the attention to detail is wonderful. Dinner on both nights was just fantastic and we really will return for more! A big thankyou to Denise, Marika and all the staff who did everything to make our stay very special.

We stayed here for 1 week. Interesting to read the old reviews and the criticism of someone named Giacomo who is no longer there as far as we could tell. We had no issues with the staff at all and found them to be helpful and pleasant. Marika and owner Denise Pardini went out of their way to make reservations for us at local restaurants, wineries and grappa distilleries.

Denise has prepared several reading materials with maps to describe restaurants and other local attractions which we found very helpful.

The food in the Castello restaurant is downright excellent and Denise, who is executive chef as well as pretty much everything at the Castello, is very knowledgeable about her well chosen wine list.

Location of the hotel is very near all the foody sites that one could ask for with many wineries and Michelin starred restaurants nearby. Alba is about 20 - 25 minutes away.

I rated our room #11 only very good because it, being created in an old castle, had only one window and was a touch on the dark side. Probably not an issue if one has better eyes than us two geezers have.

In short a nice week was had.

Room Tip: Ask about windows in room.

, Proprietario at Hotel Castello di Sinio, responded to this review, June 27, 2012
Hello from Denise at Castello di Sinio! I would like to thank you for your time taken to write a review. I appreciate the feedback and it helps us improve. I and the staff work hard to try really please our guests and always hope for 5 stars so 4 can't help but be a bit disappointing.

I would like to respond specifically about 2 things:

Room no. 11 is a bit darker than the other rooms at this level and I would love to put in another window and would if Belli Arti, the historical preservation agency would allow me. But so far they have not permitted another window, given the building is indeed a 900 year old castle. The room is spacious & beautiful - and very castle like! But recognizing this room could be a bit brighter for some, it is priced 20 to 40 Euro less than the other rooms in this category and the guest did pay less than their friends staying in the same room category. I invite guests considering a stay to contact us about room specifics, which we are more than happy to help you select.

The person Giacomo or James is indeed no longer here and has not been since September 2009. I completed the total purchase and change of ownership this May 11th, 2012. I have also notified TripAdvisor and hope that they will remove the very old reveiws that reference him since it is always confusing for guests who come to stay with us. I would much prefer guests arrive ready to experience all the wonders of our beautiful Barolo wine region and this 900 year old marvel of a building without questions & curiosity lingering. I and all my staff truly want to give our guests the most beautiful of stays possible.

It is with pleasure I write a review on our recent 5 night stay at Hotel Castello di Sinio. . .from the moment we arrived to the time of our departure, we were treated with the most relaxed and charming hospitality from Denise Pardini and her very efficient staff. Not only are the grounds lovely and well cared for, as that just entices you to step inside and luxuriate in the charming decor and history. Denise has restored the Castle with no detail left unattended, from the stellar linens and towels, to the drapes, art and flowers that adorn the mannor, to the lovely dining rooms and breakfast terraces and lanai's. Make reservations to enjoy delicious dinners because they will no doubt be the best you have in Italy. The breakfast buffet offered the most wonderful egg dishes I have ever eaten, plus a wide assortment of unique and special breads, jams and french toast. When you arrive Denise and Marika present you a packet of information, chock full of places to visit, restaurants in the various villages, with hours and closing times (very helpful) , dates and times of the area markets, maps and wine tastings in the area.. We used this packet until it was dog-eared and we did not leave the Castle without it. From my email's to Denise prior to arrival, she suggested a tour guide, Silvia Aprato. Silvia is a trained translator and is a wine sommelier. I retained Silvia for several wine tours, plus cheese, chocolate tastings and this was money well spent, it was a marvelous suggestion and encourage you to contact Silvia also. It makes more of your experience in this wonderful Piemonte area. We truly enjoyed every moment at Hotel Castello di Sinio and it deserves all the accolades currently in the media.

Room Tip: Top floor, end and corner rooms have lots of windows. .. great to see all the wine grapes growing on...

If you like good food, good wine and good service, you will want to stay here. A quiet little castle at the top of a hill in a sleepy little town, where life is all about enjoyment.
On arrival we were very warmly welcomed by Denise Pardini herself, offered a nice cool glass of Prosecco and introduced to the area, with a welcome pack that included nearly all you need to know about the area. Should you still have questions, or wonder about anything, the ladies at the front desk are there to help you and go above and beyond.
The garden is gorgeous and the terrace is lovely, but the thing that shines the brightest in our memory is the glorious cuisine created by Denise and her team. Make sure you skip lunch, honestly, because choosing from the dinner menu is too hard and breakfast is too good to be true, it varied daily and is so extensive you won't need to eat until dinner!
The only thing I would note about this place is that some of the areas seemed a bit crowded with furniture, like the lobby and the pool surrounds. Our room was also a bit cramped, we could only afford the simplest room, and the one chair was in front of the small window so we couldn't easily open it or look out of it. There wasn't really anywhere to sit together in the room unless it was on the very high bed. But that didn't bother us too much, there is too much to see and do around to spend too much time inside anyway!

Room Tip: I would recommend trying to book a room that overlooks the valley, the view is great! And perhaps ch...
