This was my first trip to the caribbean, although my girlfriend had been lots of times including twice to Turtle Beach.
I agree with other posters that if you pay for a three star hotel, please don't expect to be staying in a five star hotel. I've stayed in five star hotels but believe me, none of them had such a fantastic location!! It is right on a natural, unspoilt beach. All rooms are sea facing, and those sunsets from our balcony.....WOW!!!!!
The hotel has built a new restaurant where we ate all of our meals. The setting is lovely, with a feeling of almost eating on the beach. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and I don't understand a previous poster describing them as anything else. Ok, the chef was a bit of a misery and managed to overcook most of the food on the grill, but other than that the food was fine with a special mention for the soups...delicious!
My girlfriend did her best to sample all of the cocktails on offer (she was very thorough!!) and her only complaint was the cheap plastic cups. Yes these are ok for beer, but a better quality and shaped plastic glass would be so much better for cocktails around the pool.
Our room was extremely clean and well looked after, while the air-con was perfect.
Overall, EXCELLENT value for money. We had a great holiday and met some lovely people.
WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK.

It is very appreciative to hear that the impact at the Turtle Beach by rex resorts was a positive one overall.

Thank you for acknowledging the efforts of the staff in terms of the service and cleaning generally.

The comment on the sometimes overcooked food items on the grill has been addressed with my Chef. As well, the comment on the plastic glasses is noted and definite for consideration, in terms getting different shaped.

Website did not display mandatory long pants for men. I would have gone elsewhere when wearing modern, clean clothing (shorts) & leather shoes General Manager not helpful. We were seated in the boom docks away from the Restaurant, yet were permitted to enter but leave after attending the Buffet. You are kidding. If you want to feel second rate, come to this joint. I won't be back in my life time! A pity because the majority of the staff are wonderful & staff friendly, location is very pretty on the eye. Flexibility in management is absent. Never get me again.

Your acknowledgement of the efforts and flexibility of the staff is very much appreciated.

I note your comment on the Dress Code and for clarification, the Dress Code for the restaurant is clearly highlighted on the rexresorts website under Dining, Bars and Facilities. Though i understand your disappointment, but the Dress Code is necessary because of the challenges we have and continue to face when attempts are made to relax the Dress Code. Obviously the waiter slip up in allowing you on the buffet, because it defeats the purpose and this will be addressed accordingly..

It is unfortunate that a basic request to wear trousers for an hour to an hour and half tops would determine your position on whether the hotel is suitable.

Once again, thank for affording us the opportunity to offer our product and services and we trust that one day you would reconsider and afford another opportunity to serve you.

My wife and I chose this island and resort for our honeymoon. The island was wonderful, the tour guide "Keith" from "A Team" tours was terrific. However Turtle beach resort should be avoided at all cost. The first "luxury" room that we booked had no hot water the first night. I asked the front desk to look into it, the staff was very helpful and said it would taken care of. The second night we had no water at all! When I complained at the front desk, again they were very nice, but they said the maintenance man had to "turn on" the auxiliary water. After waiting for two hours in the lobby I asked for another room. I was told that there were no other rooms available, I then asked for a refund and I was going to go to another hotel. The staff accountant, who was extremely nice and apologetic said she would refund two nights stay and find us a room if we agreed to stay. My wife and I agreed and moved all of our luggage. The second room had no air conditioning. Finally the third night they were able to put us into a third room with hot water and moderate air conditioning. When I returned home and tried to get my two night refund, no one seems to remember me or the situation that we dealt with. The staff was extremely nice and tried there best to make us comfortable, but the resort needs to be completely renovated. While there although we didn't want to communicate with the outside world we needed to, the "wifi" never worked! The staff said that it hasn't been working for sometime. When we return to Tobago we will definitely find another hotel.

Room tip: Go to another hotel!!!!!

I would like to apologize profusely for the inconveniences caused with having to be moved between rooms before finally being provided with a suitable room. The situation with the hot water, cold water and air condition were all unforeseen, nonetheless a greater effort should have being made to ensure that you only had to endure the discomfort of having to move just once.

Just for clarification, at no time did the hotel's management disconnect itself from what transpired during your stay, because as soon as it was brought to our attention by our head office a full and accurate report of what transpired was sent. The refund which was subsequently issued to you was endorsed by the hotel's management..

I would agree there is work to be done on the property and it must be borne in mind Turtle Beach by rex resort is a basic 3 star hotel 70's style Caribbean hotel in a fantastic location offering intimate service, and we certainly do not project any thing different. It must be noted there will always be work to be done like any other hotel anywhere in the world and we will continue in our efforts, just like with the newly built seaside restaurant and number of rooms that has been redone, the progress will continue.

Thank you recognizing the efforts of the staff in trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Once again, we do apologize sincerely for any discomfort experienced and thank for choosing Turtle Beach by rex resorts for your vacation. We do hope we would reconsider and give us another opportunity to prove we can do better.

My husband and I booked this holiday as it was so well priced. Never been to the Carribean and never ever thought we'd book all inclusive. Whilst I appreciate a lot of the comments made we found the staff were as friendly to us as we were to them, the rooms were large and clean, the pool cleaned daily. The food, though not exciting, was perfectly acceptable for the price we paid. Most of the bar staff were delightful and whilst the staff levels were low at times they still remained orompt. Those who criticise the manager I believe are right in their view. Thiugh we had a fabulous
holiday I feel it was in spite of the management not because of it. Rex resorts might like to review the GM role in the near future.

I would go back to Tobago and indeed the Turtle Beach hotel as I rather like the 70s feel and we met some fantastic people both local and visitors

final mention has to go to Henry who makes sandals on the beach.... fantastic!

Having read over some of the previous negative reviews I find it difficult to believe we are talking about the same hotel! Turtle Beach by Rex Resorts is sheer paradise. One (of many) things that make Turtle Beach such a wonderful place is how quickly you become friendly with all the guests, many of which are repeaters (it's my third stay at the hotel). I believe this is because Turtle Beach appeals to laid back folk who aren't seeking 5* service but just want to chill out, chat to the locals, drink rum punch, eat delicious local food and get into the Caribbean vibe. The staff are all so kind and helpful, obviously passionate about customer service. The bartenders where cheeky and friendly and made wonderful cocktails, special shout out to Raul and Jeffery who definitely make the best cocktails. The hotel itself is in an idyllic setting on what I believe to be the best stretch of beach on the island. All of the rooms have a sea view which is wonderful after you stumble off the beach at sunset into your room which is just steps away from the beach. Every day I found myself catching my breath at the view, especially the sunset, thinking "am I really here?!". If you relax on the beach you WILL be approached by "beach boys" who are locals who earn their daily bread (arguably the best job in the world?) taking visitors on tours around the island. Some of the people we have met this way have become good friends and the trips we have been on have been the highlights of the holiday. I recommend Daryl if you meet him, his trips are amazing and Keith from 'A' team tours. Keith is a big and friendly guys with an infectious smile and a great sense of humour. Admittedly not all the beach boys you will meet will be such a pleasure. Some will be pushy and try to drive up the price. This is difficult but I suggest you go on the vibe they give you when chatting. Be careful of the guy who gets the coconuts for you to drink. They will be the most expensive coconuts of your life! Set a price first! An absolute pleasure of the stay was being invited to the managers cocktail party and meeting the managerial staff. They are kind, hardworking and just want to make sure you are having a great time. Saving the best to last, I have to mention the turtles. If you time your trip right you will be lucky enough to see the Leatherback turtles come up to the beach to lay their eggs and around 60 days later the eggs hatch and you can see the wonderful things scuttle towards the sea. This is the most incredible experience and one you absolutely must experience but please do not take photos of them using a flash or shine a light on them. There are a million more good things to say about the hotel but I will stop here. Turtle Beach by Rex Resorts is a wonderful, magical place and a I highly recommend it.

Room tip: If you have a ground floor room you can just pop in and out from the beach which is great, however, it is not very private if you wish to hang out on your balcony area. Perhaps better to go to a higher floor for balcony privacy.
