“Turtle Beach I miss you!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

So... my boyfriend and I had been searching for a reasonable, yet decent place for a while... and in my internet research, I saw Turtle Beach.. I instantly fell in love with the pics of the pool posted both here (on Trip Advisor) and on FB... I called the resort for prices and after some comparison, realised it was one of the more affordable all inclusive packages around. We booked...

Two weeks ago, we headed to Tobago for a short two night stay at Turtle Beach.. Let me say this, upon arrival, the guards at the front door were so pleasant and greeted us with such warmth that we literally thought they were Ushers!! We proceeded to check in and again, was welcomed in a very warm and lovely manner which included our "welcome drinks"... Given our key and directed to our room, we were pleasantly surprised that everything looked exactly as they did in the good pics!! The pool was immaculate and the rooms were perfectly clean and spacious! I inspected the tiles, cause I hate dirty bathrooms... and to my pleasant surprise (cause I read some reviews here that said the tiles were dirty)... they weren't!! Everything was amazing!! For the rest of our stay we did not need to leave the hotel... nor did we stay stuck in our room... we mingled with the staff at the bar... all pleasant men.. Raul, Mark, Jeffrey and Kashief... We ate and drank to our hearts' delight.. the food was always exceptional and the drinks were tailor made if we needed it to be!!

Our review of the service (again, as we had read here that some of the staff were unwelcoming and unfriendly)... well... that was not true for us! Every single member of staff that we came into contact with, either in the dining room, the bar, the guards, the water sports guys... and the cleaners... were ALL very pleasant, courteous and helpful! Front desk staff was amazing! Esther was exceptional and we really couldnt thank them enough for making our stay so wonderful!

We shall be back to this resort in May of this year... and this time, we're taking the kids and staying for a couple days more!! To all of you thinking of going to this Resort... please ignore the negative reviews and go see for yourself!! You will absolutely love it! We sure did!

Ps... the Resort was not packed to capacity at the time we stayed, so the only time we really saw many people there, was for meals and entertainment! other than that, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves... loved it!

Room Tip: Our Standard Sea Facing room was far away from the main lobby so it afford a lot more privacy... les...

Stayed here some years ago and came back to find it's still our type of hotel. As Nick and Bibi said it's not 5 star but then that isn't what we paid for - or expected. Our room on the first floor was lovely, spacious and the air-con worked fine. Nearly all the staff were great, Esther and her team were always willing to help, we have no complaints and look forward to another visit soon. The locals on the beach were very friendly and were happy just to chat, it was great to see Mr Henry (thanks for making us some more sandals) and it was nice to get bird feeders from Engine Bobb again. Also recommend Dillon, a local artist who was new to us, he does some great paintings which look good on our wall and remind us of a lovely relaxing time on this most friendly island. If you go out and about do try Tanty's kitchen in Charlotteville - the tuna is great and the portions are massive!

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view - we've had rooms on the ground floor and first floor, no problem with...

By far the worst hotel we have ever stayed at.
Mould and mildew on the walls and ingrained in the fixtures and fittings leading to month long chest infection, staff and tour operator gave poor service throughout.
Air conditioning to small for the rooms upstairs and produce condensation in lower rooms causing the mould.
Food ok but basic and dining area has no air con.
No facilities for children.
Highlights are the turtles but did not make up for the poor hotel.....be warned.

When we read other reviews we thought "Heavens above" what are we going to ...
In a nutshell those who complained about this resort must have thought that they would have
five star service. If they want to pay for that then good luck to them because:
The food was Excellent and plentiful (our 2 kilos gain weight verifies that).
The staff were more than helpful and anything you wanted they did there level best to
make sure you got it.
The beach is ok and you can swim as long as you realise the waves can look big but,
treated with respect there was no problem.
And for the ports enthusiast they have ESPN and the SKY equivalent.
We are going again without doubt

Room Tip: All rooms are sea facing,we had a standard room which was on the first floor with excellent views o...

If you want a hotel in a stunningly beautiful fairly quiet location that provides friendly efficient service, varied food, spacious rooms and excellent value for money then this is for you. It is not a 5* establishment, but it isn't priced as one. It's a great location to explore the island from (plentiful local taxis/hire car or even the bus!) and a stunning beach to just relax on and watch the local fishermen and pelicans go about their daily business.
The rooms are fairly basic but have everything you need, including quiet air conditioning. The food was varied and plentiful and the bar had an excellent range of drinks. All inclusive was a good idea as there aren't many local places to eat at without a car. Tobago is a lovely unspoilt island and this is a great place to stay and do as much or as little as you want.

This resort is long-established, all-inclusive (including local-made drinks) and has all the basics for a really good holiday break. The rooms are a good size, the air con is quiet and effective, and all have outlook to the beach, which is virtually private. The resort is very clean and well maintained, although some re-investment decisions are clearly looming. The dining room is rather charmingly old fashioned in this respect, but the range and quality of the food on offer is very good value. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful; there is occasional evening entertainment - eg a steel band for an hour. The pool is immaculately kept, but shallow - whilst the beach swimming and the buoyancy of the water was lovely.

Turtle Beach is a mile south of Plymouth, with a bus service and a taxi office at the door. Tobago is its own little world, quite different from Trinidad society - to the north is a lovely rocky coast and forest highlands. We used Frankie's Tours to go on a coastal boat trip from Buccoo to Castera, with dolphins alongside, and cove snorkelling - recommended as a day out.

Room Tip: The resort has all its facilities at the north end, but the greatest density of rooms at the souther...

Please bear in mind I stayed here in June/July 2012 but only just got round to writing the review.
The hotel is fairly basic but once you appreciate Tobago is "basic" when it comes to buildings its not a problem.
Staff are friendly, the hotel is clean and my girlfriend and I found the food was excellent.
We saw 2 turtles laying eggs and one night witnessed a nest hatching. Please respect the turtles and follow instructions by the turtle "people" should you be lucky enough to be there when this wonder of nature occurs.
The scenery in the area is fantastic as is the snorkelling. The snorkelling from teh hotel beach was not great but there are some reefs at the left hand end of the beach which hold lots of fish.
We did a boat trip with "Zoe Tobago" which was a private charter of his jet powered speedboat and it was brilliant - even got to swim with a mata ray.
The hotel is cheaper than many but dont be put off - its not 5 star decor but comfortable and we have no complaints. Other hotels we saw were in much busier parts of the island and their beach was not comparable to the beauty of Turtle Beach.
We went all inclusive. The cocktails were great.

Room Tip: All rooms are pretty much the same - view of the beach.
