“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

We had the added bonus of staying here for three nights and on the evening of my hubbys birthday we had booked to table in this restaurant and yes I have to agree with every single comment on these reviews it was exceptional tasting food, wonderful service and atmosphere. It was also the most expensive meal for two that I have even paid for as we had wine which I had to agreed is so over priced that we would not normally have bought any but it was his 50th so I just went ahead. You can have the 6 course set menu which is about 990,000 IPD per person but the al a carte was a little more expensive. We choose the sharing surf and turf which was lobster and the most delishious wagyu 9 beef.
I only booked this restaurant from the reviews on here and was totally satisfied that I had booked the most exquiste place to spend some relaxing time.

“extraordinary evening at banyan tree”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

after 5 years waiting to came here after my friends reccommendation, finally i went here with some of my friends, splendid services and great ambience. i ordered some cocktail, Sex WITH the Beach. a special cocktail of the day from our bartender, Edward. First time i heard it was funny, because its usually sex on the beach. but its very nice, accompanied with the charcuterie and faboulous prawn bruschetta from the Ju-Ma-Na's kitchen crew. Gives us a real different experience.

“Exceptional”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We visited Ju Ma Na based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor. In short, the rating above is deserved.

The one only caveat about this restaurant is about how long it takes to get there from anywhere outside of the Ungasan area. I made the classic mistake of looking at a map and guesstimating a 30 minute trip (from Legian). A mate who comes to Bali three or four times a year said you’re a rabbit and should allow an hour. In truth, it took nearly 90 minutes. Traffic in the south-west part of Bali is nothing short of appalling. I was last in Bali three years ago, and the worsening condition of road travel is marked. So the hot hint is to leave way earlier than you would otherwise have planned to – and in the unlikely event that you arrive before the 6:30pm that the restaurant opens, have a drink at the outdoor bar which has a happy hour from 5pm to 8pm.

Okay, to service. On the basis of a recommendation on TripAdvisor, we specifically asked to be waited on by Majid. Majid is thoroughly professional and impossibly good-looking. He was at risk of being married off or adopted by any number of our group. He also had this infectious action of bouncing from foot to foot when announcing the dishes, as if he could barely contain his excitement. We were a party of 10, and so had three waiters for the night, and all were excellent. The head chef came out a couple of times and got an ovation for his – and his team’s – efforts.

Our meal was:
* Five spices soft shell crab with hearts of palm, nasturtium, coriander aioli, kaffir lime leave dressing
* Lobster cappuccino
* Black miso cod and seared tiger prawn with succotash and wilted spinach. This was the stand-out dish of the evening, and perfection on a plate.
* Wagyu no. 9 grilled strip loin, potato mousseline, glazed roots vegetables and a red wine sauce
* 70 % valrhona soft chocolate cake, with raspberry, croustillant, and salt grey de bretagne
* Passionfruit soufflé with coconut fruit jelly

These six courses were interspersed with 3 amuse-bouches, each of which was a work of culinary art in its own right.

The only downer was the wine list which had prices that would make your eyes weep tears of blood. To Ju Ma Na’s credit there was an explanation of why the prices were so high at the start of the wine list – but in any case we stuck to cocktails and had no complaints.

All in all, a superb experience (and a special thanks to the wedding party next door who organised a spectacular fireworks demonstration just before dessert!). Well done Banyan Tree.

“Great Dinner Above Southern Bali”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

After reading about the sunset at Banyan Tree; went to restaurant bar to see the sunset before dinner. Would recommend cocktails there before dinner. Arriving at the hotel – staff transports you down to the restaurant in a cart. There is excellent scenic seating inside and outside. We tried the Tasting Menu; the lobster soup and seafood portion of the menu was excellent. Would absolutely recommend, if you’re looking to mix it up from seafood and local cuisine.

“Gourmet food with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Probably the best fine dining we've had in Bali
I'd definitely recommend coming before sunset (17.30 or sooner) to have cocktails at the outdoor bar area and the beautiful view while it's still light
Reserve a spot at the outdoor balcony seating if weather permits

Our favorites were the ama ebi tartar and the lobster cappuccino
Also had the wagyu and lamb for main courses which were excellent
