We vacationed here 2 weeks in July with our 4 kids from the US and rented a 3 bedroom TAOS 1. week and a 3 BR DeLuxe Family the second (TAOS was sold out 2. week). TOAS was very nice and in a quiet location. Tight, of cause with 6, but manageable.
Camp was way too small for all the Camp guests and pool VERY crowded - so much that we have to give up finding a spot to swim ...let alone find a sun bed (From early morning, all beds were reserved, but nobody there ...some were reserved an entire day with nobody ever showing up!)
All activities cost extra - we really felt this was just a money machine
Friendly staff in the beginning, but as our stay came to an end - it got a lot worse. After first week we lost an entire day changing from one cabin to the other and staff were not helpful ...but the real low came day of departure.
After spending 2 hours cleaning the place to a MUCH higher standard than when we got it - the cleaning inspector (only speaking French of cause), showed up 45 min. late and in a really bad mood, didn't say hello to us but starting taking everything out of kitchen and screaming at us for leaving the place in "such a mess". My wife is from Paris and they got into a heated verbal fight. We demanded the Camp manager to show up, which the Inspector refused and demanded a $500 cleaning fee.
We tallied to the reception and demanded the Camp Manager to inspect the clean cabin, but she refused via phone and waived the cleaning fee - clearly letting us know that we were noted as "Guest Leaving Without Cleaning" - absolutely shocking.
South of France is absolutely adorable and despite the bad Camp experience, we still had an amazing vacation ...but the $4000 we spent at L'Hippocampe renting the Cabins would be better spent elsewhere ...anywhere really!
