“Cheap and good welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

If you looking for a cheap price but good place, I recommended here. The food are so fresh and the service is OK also. Environment and room is so clean.

We found a gecko outside the bathroom. They come to pick it out (somewhere) before we come back. At night time the other visitors are so noisy but not over midnight the resort's staff can make them quite.

Room Tip: Tell them the truth how many people in your trip, they will give a good suggestion for you.

This surprisingly large resort caters mainly for Thais and for business meetings. But it has a good restaurant and decent rooms with hot water and Tvs and wi fi so if you to stay north of Chiang Dao it is very comfortable.
It is also cheaper and better rooms than those like the Nest which are nearer to Chandao.
There is also a Thai Village just behind with good walks and friendly villagers-the country walks here are very good.

Room Tip: try a visit to the caves and to the hot springs further down the road

because the matress actually is made of wood covered with a thin layer of cloth,it looks like aregular 20 cm high matress inviting you to just let yourself fall onto it, but beware, you might endup with some broken ribs ! Other than that the place is beaytifull, the room and shower are spacious and beautifully designed, hot and cold water (though,seperatly...)very clean and well keeped.

For a room for 500 baht, you get ALOT for your money. Same room would be 1000 in Chiang Mai, and 1500 in other places. Hot water and a.c. worked fine. Nice room, nice bed, nice staff. However, beware, food quality poor, management for restaurant poor, food prices extremely high, and service poor, you will wait at least an hour at times (not terribly bad since you are relaxing at a nice place, but it's a bit on the ridiculous side). You can rationalize it by realizing you are saving a lot on the rooms though, and the surroundings are quite nice on a man made beautiful pond/lake. However, beware, lots of thai groups come and may sing loud kareoke. My wife and I didn't understand why people come to a very peaceful place in nature, and then ruin the peaceful environment by loud obnoxious kareoke. Again, it doesn't happen all the time, could be once a week. We also were saving a lot on the room (we stayed a week) so we opted to do our laundry there , WRONG! Our white clothes were turned pink for three times the money. And they didn't do anything or seem to care in the normal thai fashion. It's also a few kilometers from town, so you may likely have to eat at least one below par above cost meal there, so be prepared, again, factor it into the cost, just figure you are paying 700 baht for a room instead of 500 and you won't feel bad. All in all, i would recommend it highly, mostly because its big bang for the buck, it's nice, scenic, quiet on the days there isn't kaoreoki, and a nice place.Just take the 20 baht taxi to town for food and do your laundry elsewhere, and you'll be in good shape!

Room Tip: Take song taow to town for food; don't eat at restaurant often, don't do your laundry there...

i enjoyed my stay at the hotel very much. The boongalos was very unique, nice and clean and the hotel itself nade of wood and looks very interseting. The bathroom was small, no hot water. a dissapointment compared to the room. lots of mosquitoes-be ready.

Fantastic settiing. My stay here was very relaxing. The rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and efficient. If you want someone where English is spoken then don't bother.

Our tour group stayed at Rim Doi last week for one night. The lodging was chosen simply because it was close to our work location so we didn't utilize the resort as a 'vacation' spot - just needed a place to sleep. However, I did enjoy my stay there.

The bungalows are absolutely gorgeous. The stairs, banisters, and balconies are done with original hardwoods which help the bungalows blend into the lush vegetation of the surrounding area. There was an emphasis on largeness...I felt like a dwarf going up the huge steps to the top floor. My room had an entire wall of large windows which overlooked the tropical trees below. The room was equipped with two twin beds, a refrigerator, television, air conditioner, and fan. The bathroom was one step down from the rest of the room and included an 'on demand' gas hot water heater. The shower was very refreshing after a long day of work. Note that if you are handicapped or otherwise unable to go up two flights of stairs, you'll want to reserve a room on the bottom floor. Even then, you may have trouble navigating steps inside the room or outside. Either way, I don't think this resort would be in any way accessible to a person in a wheelchair.

The grounds were lush and beautiful...I felt like I was in a tropical jungle. At the restaurant area is a balcony overlooking the lake where you can purchase bags of fish food for 10 baht. The fish certainly provide for some relaxation and entertainment as you feed them! Lots of gorgeous flowers abound along the walkways and beside the fountains.

One exciting aspect of Rim Doi was the critters. We were excited to see all the geckos crawling on the buildings in the evening hours. There were mosquitos...bring your repellent for sure. In addition, there were many ants, some big beetles, and other small bugs. One of our tour group members had geckos crawling on his ceiling at night and many reported ants and other bugs crawling around in their rooms overnight. If you have critter issues, you may want to stay somewhere else. I, personally, didn't have a problem - killed the mosquitos, hoped for a gecko or two (no luck!) and didn't mind what few ants I saw in my room.

We ate dinner and breakfast at the resort. Dinner was wonderful...a wide array of traditional Thai foods. After dinner, we were excited to get ice cream bars from the freezer. Breakfast, unfortunately, was not quite as nice. They had a wide array of traditional Thai breakfast items...none were to my taste. We made good use of the toast option for breakfast that day!

WiFi internet is available on the grounds. The signal was even strong in the bungalow...a refreshing surprise at the end of the day! One hour of internet service was 50 baht. You purchase a small card with a login id and password which worked very easily.

I was sorry that we only spent one night at this location and would gladly return here someday. The only negative aspect of the stay was the lack of 'American options' for breakfast Just bring some poptarts along! Also, don't forget your camera...lots of great photo opportunities here!
