4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the hotel for 1 day prior to our travels over to koh lanta and were happy enough too book to stay again upon our return.

The staff are lively and very helpful. The breakfast is pleasant. The hotel is very clean, as are the rooms and it has the added bonus of a small pool to cool off.

I wouldn't stay here for more than a few days but a great base in Phuket for a brief stopover.

I booked this hotel because I wanted to spend some time in Phuket Town and they were at the lower price edge - at the same time offering amenities like free WiFi, parking and a pool.

This hotel is obviously run/owned by a Chinese family. I like that because the Chinese are thorough people - and many of may favourite hotels in Southeast Asia are "Chinese" business hotels.

Staff is friendly here. Cleaning is thorough. The WiFi works. The small pool is nicely shaped (narrow but long).

The young manager (maybe a daughter of the owners?) is friendly and smiling - but the place is not run professionally. They are not spending any serious money on maintaining the place. So it has become a little outdated. TVs are of the old CRT type: huge but with a small screen. There is no hot water at the bathroom sink (only in the shower) which makes shaving difficult for old fashioned people like myself who shave wet. The fridge in the room , however, is big and can store your personal spirits, snacks and so on.

The moment you check in (early or late) they ask you what you would want for breakfast the next morning. Three choices: American, Continental or Asian Rice Soup...obviously, they want to buy only what's necessary. Nothing wrong with that. I had rice soup (congee) twice so far, once with pork and once with fish. Can't fault it. It arrives hot and, if you ask, they will bring you some chillies and fish sauce.

The lobby is also the place for breakfast. The tables along the walls where they keep dishes, crockery and cutlery have cheap, colourful plastic covers and the "stock" is hidden by white linen on top. It looks more like in a "canteen" than a 50$ per night hotel.

The pool house is not well looked after (in this case not a question of money but attitude). It has a shower and a toilet. But there are neither towels for the shower - nor paper for the toilet. - and it looks by far not as clean as in the guest rooms.

All in all, however, I like the place. It is not cheap for what it offers. But the location is not bad and the breakfast soup is with ample meat (or fish) ...But somehow, I can't see this hotel prosper.
It is not a resort - where you would want to spend your day.

Not so important for me because

Plus: The room was spacious & very clean. The staff were friendly.

Negative: This hotel rooms was very clinical and does not have a cosy / comfortable feel. Although very new the decor is very dated. No room safe. Not all of the sockets / lights worked. The shower was not controlable - only gave piping hot water therefore we were unable to shower in the morning. Breakfast was poor - powdered instant coffee. The surrounding area of the hotel is not very pleasent. The photo's of the hotel on Booking.com make it look much nicer that it is.

All in all, this is a decent place, with a nice pool and very friendly staff. I think that for the money, though, you could find better. There was certainly nothing special about it which would justify it costing what it did.

It is within walking distance to the bus terminal, which is terrific if you're heading out of town after your stay. There are no decent restaurants nearby- you'll have to go on a trek to find something good to eat!

The computers downstairs (they sell usage tickets at the front desk) are terribly slow and crash often. It's not worth the $$.

Breakfast is packed full of breads and croissants if you're looking to gain a few pounds. Breakfast could definitely be improved!!

Would I stay again? Probably not... it certainly wasn't a bad experience, though.

Stayed a week at this small boutique hotel in phuket town. Located away from the hustle & bustle. Limited number of rooms with direct pool access - worth choosing. Breakfast a little light on for westerners. Staff very friendly & helpful - nothing was a problem - no soap provided in bathroom? Highly recommended and affordable - would book again!
