I dont know where these people stayed but it obviously wasnt the same place we did. This was a last minute break for me and my boyfriend (I am 21 and he is 29). We had originally booked to go to Jamaica with another couple but the day before we were due to fly by boyfriend decided it would be a good idea to get drunk and spiral fracture his leg in 3 places to Jamaica didnt happen. After a few months of recovery we sorted out the insurance money and decided that Thailand would be the perfect option, relaxing and aparently paradise! We were plesently surprised, we booked through dream ticket, i was a but jubious as i usually book through a shop but decided it was worth a try.
We got to the hotel and was welcomed by a lovely cold drink and taken to our room, we gave the porters a tip for their help, the thai people are lovely. when we entered our room we saw that we had a walk in wardrobe which is every girls dream so i went straight in there, the bathroom was a nice size with a big shower and seperate bath. you get a big TV and a huge bed! we found it hard sleeping in the same bed when we got back as our bed seemed so small compared! you also get the mini bar and some extras! go to the supermarkets to buy your water its is a million times cheeper ad you can store it in your minibar fridge.
We went down to the pools to explore, there were 3 in all one for children and 2 others, we went to the one near the back of the complex as it seemed to be quiet and it had a swim up bar where you could order food.
Eating out is soooo cheep, we went for lunch and dinner every day and spent no more than about £15 for a 3 course meal with drinks for 2 people and we ate like kings....and queens!!! the most expensive meal we had came to £30 - still for 2 people - and i had lobster thermador - that was in patong. i would also recommend eating off of the stalls, some people are a bit scared about this worrying that it is not fresh enough but it tastes asolutely amazing.
the Tuk Tuks were such a laugh do not pay anymore than 250 bhat to get into Patong we got ripped off on our first night they charged 400 bhat but we didnt have anyone to tell us any different but we soon learned the tricks of the trade.
we didnt get any suits made but there are plenty of deals going around.
defo go for a thai massage, the studio just outside the hotel is called happiness massage and it is absolutely amazing....and dirt cheep. they do strip you off and ladies if your a bit funny about your boobs be warned they get them out!!! i was surprised but it was just me and by boyfriend in there and if there are other people they corner you off.
There are obviously the male tourists that go over for the "girls" but you hardly notice it only once did i see a man go off with one of them although my boyfriend did get flashed as we were walking through patong one night (i think it was just to prove that she was actually a she!!!) its all fun and games tho just laugh it off.
one last thing...excursions....we did the speadboat trip to the islands which was a ones in a lifetime thing, the views are absolutely stunning and you go to a number of different islands, my fave was obv the phi phi and also monkey cove watch out for the monkeys tho they can be really cheeky they nicked a womans beach bag while we were there and be careful dont yease them they bite!!! we also did the safari day with elephant trecking and the sunset dinner on a boat the elephant trek was so peaceful and made our holiday in a way! the last trip we went on was the fantasea show, i didnt like it as they had the elephants doing tricks up on the stage and there its not much to to, you get there at about 5 and the show starts at about 9.30 so you have 4 and a half hours to walk around a small market with a few games and shops not my cup of tea at all.
