We have just returned from our holiday to Thailand and the Centara Karon ticked all our boxes for a fun yet relaxing holiday. The children, aged 8 and 6, were captivated by the lagoon pool, and enjoyed the activities that they participated in the Kids Club. My husband and I enjoyed watching our children delight in their surroundings and were able to find time to relax, enjoy a massage in the spa and reveille in the reasonable cost of everything. We stayed in the Tropicale Wing in two interconnecting rooms, which I feel gave us the best of both worlds. We spent time around the lagoon pool with the children during the day and then later in the afternoon we were ready for some more quiet time we moved up to the Tropicale pool to relax with cocktails and tasty nibbles (included in the cost of the Tropicale room). Tropicale wing is a lot quieter as it is at the back of the resort, but it does mean that you do have to walk further to get anywhere. The resort staff were friendly and courteous and our room was very good for Thai standards.
The only negative that I concur with other trip advisor reviewers is that the beds are like sleeping on concrete. I had read about this before we left, but I thought that I would try it out for the first night to see if it was as bad as other people had said, and it really was. However this was easily rectified the next day when I asked at reception for our beds to have softer mattresses placed on our beds. The air-conditioning was also a little dodgy but we eventually got it sorted and it certainly wasn't bad enough for us to report to management about.
The breakfast which was included, was great. we chose to have breakfast at the Azure restaurant most mornings as it was less crowded, had a nice view over the Lagoon pool and was closer to the Tropicale wing. However the breakfast in the main dining area did appear to have a greater choice of things on offer for breakfast, if that is what you are looking for. We ate a couple of times at Azure for dinner and again found the food very good and not a lot more expensive than what we paid when we ate out of the resort. We didn't go to a theme night as we are not into that sort of thing and the prices for these meals certainly put us off even giving it a go.
We stayed here on a recommendation from a friend of ours and we would definitely stay again. I would recommend this resort to families and for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Patong. Once you enter through the front gates of this resort you could be anywhere, as it is set back from the noisy streets and traffic, yet it is not too far away from anything if you want to go out and explore. I would suggest you give it a go.
If you don't like sleeping on a very hard mattress then ask to have the soft foam mattress put o...
