This is our second trip to Phuket. Unlike the first where we stayed in Patong, this time round, we chose to stay in Karon. I picked this hotel after reading the good reviews here on TripAdvisor.
We took the morning flight from Singapore and arrived at the hotel shortly before 11am. The nice ladyboy at the counter already had our reservation details in hand and promptly checked us in with a smile. I did not even have to request for an early check-in and a late check-out. He/she readily told us that we can check-out at 2pm although the standard time to do so is at 12 noon. We assumed it may be due to the fact that we were the only guests staying in the hotel throughout our stay, but hey, no complaints. :))
The room is clean, roomy and comfortable. We had to climb a tall flight of stairs to our room on the second floor but it was worthwhile as the view of the beach from our balcony was simply breathtaking. I went to sleep and woke up to the sound of waves and crickets and chirping birds. The Sunset Bar on the rooftop of the hotel boasts one of the most glorious views of a beach sunset.
The pool is clean and I remember seeing the cleaner picking up the twigs from the pool every hour or so (although we were the only guests around!). Breakfast was sent to our room every morning. Our room was cleaned by the time we got back from the beach every day.
The hotel is just ten steps away from the beach and a short five minute walk from Karon Centre. Here, you can find possibly anything you need. Don't forget to dine at Red Onion. This quaint restaurant serves the best Tom Yum and Prawn Tempura. Andaman Coffee Club's Strawberry&Cheese Ice-Blended is heavenly. You get 15 minutes of Internet surfing free for every drink purchased here. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach at night and you'll find plenty more to do.
I suggest you rent a bike for only 200 baht a day if you intend to explore Patong Beach, Kata Beach and Kata Noi beach. All are just ten minutes ride away from the hotel.
What I liked the least about the hotel is probably the huge black lizard on the ceiling which "croacked" on our first night there, but it was gone the next morning. That, and ants on our bed, but we take blame for that because we had breakfast in bed! :))
