On arrival we were shown to our room (at the farthest end of the hotel) whose balcony was about 15 feet from the very active construction site next door. The work starts at 8am and goes on until 8pm and can be extremely noisy. Instantly not happy with the situation I requested another room only to be told that there wasn't another one available until the next day (this was not the case as there were loads of empty rooms). We were given a different room which overlooked the pool area and thankfully our holiday could begin. Once we'd changed rooms we had a good stay at the Karon Princess.

The room was cleaned daily and at no time was there any concern about needing to lock anything up although there was a safe box provided for valuable items.

Breakfast was quite good (get there early to get a table) with a reasonable selection of food available. The 'egg lady' looks fierce but speak to her while she cooks your eggs and she's really nice.

We would stay at the Karon Princess again-providing we can be guaranteed a room nowhere near the construction site because that was the only negative. Overall the Karon Princess offered pretty good value, clean rooms and is perfect for the beach which is literally across the road. Both parts of Karon are within walking distance which is good for restaurants. The local bus runs right outside so you don't need a Tuk Tuk to get to and from Phuket Town and if you're feeling lazy but want to go to Kata grab the bus for 35 Baht.

This is a decent four star hotel in Phuket. Location: This hotel is just across the road from the huge beach in Karon. It is about 5-10 minutes walk from some good restaurants (Old Siam is a great restaurant about 5 minutes away if you turn left out of the hotel and the Movenpick restaurants are great above 5 minutes away if you turn right out of the hotel). It costs about 650-800 baht to get there from the aiport (€15-20). Hotel: The hotel has two major buildings, one at the front (which I think are called Sea View Rooms) and one at the back (which I think are called Garden View Rooms). We stayed in both buildings (as we stayed there for four nights, left for one night to go to Phi Phi Island and then came back to Phuket afterwards for one night). The rooms are quite spacious, with nice bathrooms and good balconies with nice views. However, some of the rooms had no view at all, though we did not stay in these. Pool: There is one long but narrow pool and then a smaller one (about the size of jacuzzi), which are perfectly pleasant. Service: The staff are quite helpful. However, they wanted us to move room after the first night and told us we would have to check out and back in again leaving a one and a half hour wait with our bags sitting out in the lobby, which we didn't agree to. After arguing with them they backed down though, and we were allowed stay in the same room. Breakfast: The breakfast is actually very good for a hotel that really doesn't need to make such an effort - you can get an omelette made for you and there is a good selection of bread/ fruit/ meats etc. Travel Service: The hotel offers a travel service (day trips, taxis etc) which we didn't use but seemed to have higher prices than other places. Overall, would recommend if visiting Karon or Phuket. Note: Turning left out of the hotel brings you to less seedy places than turning right!

This hotel is in a central location about half way between Patong beach ( 7kms ) and Kata beach. The rooms are what you would expect for this price range..........double bed, aircon, TV, mini bar reasonable bathroom and free breakfast included which is also not bad with a good choice. The hotel is oblong shapped with the resturant at the front by the road which is not busy and the swimming pool at the rear. When we were there a hotel next door was being built but the noise didn't really bother us. There is a poolside bar which sells large fantastic cocktails.
Two points to note here is
1.the beach infront of the hotel is dangerous to swim in at certain times of the year so you either take the risk or have to travel to another beach
2.The resort here is spread out and not at all busy with a few resturants next to the hotel and the rest in Karon town which is about a 20 minute walk.
There is a Taxi/Tuk Tuk stop outside the hotel but these are very expensive, about 500 TB to patong so if you've got the nerve hire a scooter out. We hired out 2 scooters for 2 weeks at £2 a day each but be careful because this is without insurance. We had a punture in one one day and it was down to us to sort it out and pay for it...............all part of the experience again
There is also quite a big market next to the hotel
I would definately recommend this hotel but only to people that would be okay with hiring a car or scooters

We stayed at the Karon Princess for 6 nights in August 2008.
As soon as we arrived we were treated with great service.
The hotel is situated in a really good breach front location (with a main road separating the hotel and the beach, but traffic isn't at all bad).
We only ate an evening meal at the hotel once, but this was because we wanted to explore the surrounding areas of Kata, etc. Saying this, the breakfasts were very good, with a large selection of food on offer.
The hotel has two pools and two jacuzzi's, split into an upper part and lower part (see pictures). Both levels were very clean and tidy and there was always a barman on hand to get you anything you wanted.
As you can also see from the pictures, the bed was huge in our room AND it was so comfortable! The room was standard for a hotel in Thailand with a bath, shower, balcony, tv, safe and fridge, etc., and was cleaned daily.

Now some bad points.....
The first thing you notice regardless of what time you arrive at the hotel is the number of bell boys hanging about the foyer. Being two young female travellers, we did find the leering looks quite intimidating at times and tried o avoid eception whenever we could.
At the time of our stay major work was starting to take place at the hotel next door. The noise was obviously louder when you were outdoors and the pools were situated right opposite the work, however after a time you just get used to it.
Internet was expensive... 180THB for 60 mins, but you have to buy blocks of 60 mins, instead of the 'normal' rate per minute.

All in all a really good hotel in a great location and we will certainly be returning at some point in the future.
