The hilton is set right in the middle of beautiful karon beach. Quieter than patong, and a nice clean beach. The hotel itself is fantastic, its huge and offers all the facilities and ammenities you would expect from the hilton. Tennis courts, squash courts, 3 pools (2 are twin layered so 5 pools), bars, restaurants etc.
all in all this is a wonderful hotel with plenty to do!

The Arcadia is apparently one of the biggest resorts on the island and I’d have to agree. It is MASSIVE.

When we rocked up the whole place looked a bit 1980s but, to be honest, it is very cool 1980s and, over the years, the place has been modernised. It is a resort that you can hang out in all day. It really is big. Five pools, great gardens, an array of bars, a selection of ridiculously priced eateries, a great gym and an extortionately priced spa really do make this place a full service experience if you are willing to pay for all the add-ons. It just has the lot.

The sheer bulk of the place obviously presents a few problems though and, at times, it is clear that it struggles under its own weight. Room refurbishment is one such example. Whilst all of the rooms are comfortable (we had a group booking and some of us opted for the upgrade and others opted for the standard rooms), it is apparent that to refurbish all of the rooms is an enormous financial impost and, as such, there is a bit of a jump between the basic rooms and the upgraded rooms. We had an upgraded room with a view of the ocean and it was certainly nice enough for a 4.5 star property but it was clear that the renovation wasn’t an all-out effort and corners had been cut (perhaps the worst bathroom tiling I’d ever seen!). Nonetheless, the room was passable and the customer service excellent as is generally the Hilton way.

As appears to be the case with so many properties, niggles with cost continue. The spa is beautiful but never busy. The price of the treatments is ridiculous. Cheaper to get the same thing at home in Australia so kind of negates part of the appeal of Asia (i.e. things are meant to be cheaper). The same applies for the restaurants. They look great but, with the exception of breakfast, sit there almost deserted. The prices really are crazy and like the majority of the guests you should find yourself walking out the front, turning right and five minutes down the road there are heaps of eateries on offer at a quarter of the price. I don’t know why hotels do this. They appear to just have staff standing around in empty restaurants and don’t see this as a problem.

One big gripe though. The pools in the resort close at 7pm each night. Phuket is quite hot and, ultimately, I’m on holiday. If I want to swim in the pool after 7pm then I should be allowed to. I understand the need for some kind of curfew (perhaps 10pm) so that people don’t keep others awake but 7pm is just ridiculous. Apparently this is for pool maintenance but, to be honest, I think it is just a way to get around having to have staff on duty in the pool areas after dark. The pool areas themselves are all really reasonable. The pool at the front of the resort overlooking the beach is the clear winner. Whilst they have reserved one tiny pool right at the back of the resort as an adults only area, it might actually be better if they reserved the pool at the front for this purpose. Given that it is the only pool devoid of the water slides etc. that are in the other pools it’d be a great place to enforce a no screaming children rule.

In terms of guest mix it is a definite combo of couples, families and European package tour punters. Most of the package tour guests appear to be at the rear of the resort and there is one pool area that is basically entirely populated with Russians. Having never been to Russia I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many Russians in the one place – definitely not what I expected in Phuket.

Karon, it must be said, is a little bit out of the way and, for us at least, therein lay part of the appeal. It’s a bit less frantic, a bit easier to just chill out and seems relatively devoid of ping pong shows.
Would we stay again? Yes. If the price is right then it is a great full service resort that, really, has most of the bases covered. I’d definitely opt for an upgraded room though.

Room Tip: Opt for an upgraded room if you can. The older rooms are still nice but are obviously just on the wa...

Never try this hotel as it is old and untidy. The door lock is broken. Don't expect the beach next to the hotel {Karon beach} can swim as the sea wave is very strong unless you want to surf there. The hotel staff is not friendly never smiles. Food is fair no expectations on it.

Situated across the street from the fantastic Karon Beach (with sand so fine it squeeks when you walk across it), Hilton Phuket Arcadia is a true resort. Its 80+ acres is showcased with immaculately-maintained grounds, delightful swimming pools and comfortable rooms. Staff is gracious and attentive, ensuring only hotel guests use their swimming pools. There are underground tunnels that eliminate visibility of shuttling food between store rooms and kitchens/restaurants. Relaxing location.

This hotel had everything a resort should have. Nice surroundings, good security, and helpful friendly staff. This hotel was a little dated but clean and functional. Good for families or even a wedding and honeymoon. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Nice pools and even a waterslide. Since I was there to get some peace, I got a seaview room on the top floor away from everyone. My room was spacious, but dated, complete with balcony. It had an open floor plan where I could see the beautiful Andaman Sea from any spot in the room; well worth the extra money for the seaview. This hotel was big enough to not be bothered by anyone or anything. It is close to market areas and activities for tourists. The hotel is also close to the beach. The beach was clean and not crowded every time I went there. I plan to return to this Karon Beach hotel whenever I visit Phuket.

Room Tip: A little kindness will go a long way in the hospitality industry. Just ask!

Stayed here for 5 nights in the Saitong Wing. Rooms are a little outdated in here but overall comfortable and clean. The pools arereally great especially the one closest to the beach and Ocean Beach Club restaurant. Only downfall is that they are only open 9am - 7pm, when its over 30 degrees all day, it would be nice to have a night swim after dinner but they say that its because they have to put chemicals in the pool. You can get drinks brought to the side of the pool though so that is a nice touch :) Probably this hotels biggest plus is the staff. They do not walk past you without saying hello, they always have a smile on their face, they are extremely polite and friendly, and ask you questions about your stay and other things and they are always, always as helpful as possible. And i mean all staff from the waitresses to the security staff, everyone. Breakfast is delicious, try the banana bread it is highly recommended! Would have been nice to have complimentary wifi in the room but not too much of a hassle to walk downstairs to the saitong wing lobby to use it. The Saitong sports bar no longer exists but hotel signage has not been updated to reflect this.

Its worth noting this is a fairly decent way out of Patong Beach (the main part of phuket), about a 15 minute drive and only about 400THB which is not bad at all however the person who booked thought we were staying in Patong Beach so i thought .its worth mentioning. Karon Beach area is very nice! :)
