“Nice family hotel with great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2011

We stayed for 10 days in this really nice hotel. The people are very friendly and helpful and the room is super clean en big! The bed was really great, so much better than most beds in Asia! You can book several tours with the hotel, hire a scooter (very cheap!) or go to the beach, which is close to the hotel. The hotel also organises dinnerparty's like stonegrilling or karaoke. The hotel is in a quiet street far away from the buzzling traffic and bars. Really great! Highly recommended!

Last week I stayed a few days in Kata! With a limited budget it was rather difficult to find a good place to stay at the Phuket Island! As this part of the island is by my opinion is the best spot, it is normally expensive! And a cheaper hotel is normally not what you had one's in mind... But this hotel offers the best of both. Not expensive and high quality!
The rooms, in the 1,5 years old
building are clean and spacious! On the ground floor there is a good restaurant, belonging to the hotel, giving fine breakfast and a good diner! The BBQ we had when we stayed there was even more then good!
This review sounds maybe a little
over the top, but it all was more we ever expected to get for this price!
A big compliment for the owners, for arranging the very last minute taxi we needed, to go back to the airport, after the local minibus not turned up...
Next time I'll go back here for sure!
With all the best beaches of Phuket just around the corner, it is a good place to start your discovery of Phuket Island! Enjoy your stay!:)

We stayed in the Hotel for one night and taken the overall high prices in Phuket into account the place was OK and you get for what you pay for. Our room was clean even though it could have been slightly larger. The owners (Dutch) are very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant of the Hotel is also OK: good breakfast and for dinner you can have “hot stone”, i.e. you fry meat/seafood on a flat hot stone which is being put at the center of your table.
Only drawback: the hotel is located in the back of the town and you either have to walk around the gigantic Clubmed compound which occupies most of the beach front or you need to walk along a most disgusting open sewage canal. Unfortunately, urban services have not kept pace with the high volume of tourists and apparently not enough revenues/taxes derived from tourism are channeled back into those services which is a pity. The canal goes underground at a certain point but then straight into the bay: happy snorkeling! Kata as such (as well as Phathong) is a disaster, stay away! Full of the package crowd.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2011

I stayed in Kata Beach Center (KBC) for a few days in February 2011. After KBC I moved to a 4 star premium resort in Karon and have to say that KBC compared very favourably given it was half the price.

KBC is off the main road of Kata, approximately 12-15 min leisurely walk from the beach. Its location is rather quiet, amongst other newly builts, and thus this little area felt quiet westernised. The room had a very good size, was fresh and well maintained and equipped - a safe, new remotely-controlled a/c, TV, DVD player, fridge, large balcony, all the bathroom accessories. It was cleaned daily and the wifi was provided for free. The room price included a basic continental breakfast, which was very good for the price.
The hostess is great, very helpful and welcoming. The nearest beach was Kata -
and it is truly a picture-perfect beach - clean, well maintained, walled off by a small island from the weed and rubbish often brought to adjacent beaches at high tides.

Amongst other perks, there is a fantastic PADI Dive Centre in the same building, a supermarket within 50 yards, and a very friendly (and cheap compared to high street!) Phuket tour agent ('Golden...' something) just across the small road. The main road with restaurants and all other amenities is within 5 minute walk.

The only downside of the place I can really think of is a small part of the walk to the beach - it goes along a dried out river which somewhat stinks. However, this is hardly uncommon for Thailand and the advantages of Kata beach fully outweigh the 3 minutes of discomfort.

Thanks for the amazing stay!

The hotel is removed from the hustle and bustle, which does allow you that peace you sometimes need. Unfortunately there was a lot of building work going on in the area and at no point did the grinding and drilling come to a halt. The rooms are odd in their decor and just did not appeal to us - when comparing to other similar priced establishments.
A tip to the owners - if you do not want to allow guests to bring their own country's beautiful wine to dinner, please have a wine list!! Having 1 bottle of wine as a 'choice' does not a wine list make.
On our return to Kata Beach, we stayed at the Beach Boutique Hotel, just next door and their rooms were superb! In fact, the first one on our trip to have a comfortable couch to relax on! Kudo's!
And please, Thailand, soften your pillows!!! Dutch owners should know that these rocks are just too much to sleep with.

Patong is for the 18-30's - lots of activities, noise & nightlife. Karon & Kata are closeby, good for occasional day trips to Patong. KC Hotel is on a back street and is quiet, clean, friendly and comfortable. Beds are OK - much better than many in Thailand (most are too firm). Breakfast was good value. Pool is nice, but pool area is cramped. Spa area is relaxing - great after a day on the beach. Beach is an easy 5-10 minute walk away - across a couple of roads, so not really the best for a family with kids.
