“Like the best dream you ever had....only real!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2009

We stayed at Indigo Pearl for 10 days on our honeymoon. We had done extensive research on this place before coming as we wanted to have a fantastic experience. Indigo Pearl more than lived up to our expectations. This place simply blew us away. From the moment of our arrival we were greeted by the fantastic staff.....cold towels and refreshing drinks. We were awed by the design in the lobby....the design of this place is amazing. On entering our room we were pleasantly surprised to see our bed covered in rose petals, a fruit basket, champagne on ice and two heart shaped chocolate cakes, which were the most divine thing we have ever tasted...EVER!!
We highly recommend this place for couples and honeymooners, especially if you are interested in architecture, construction, interior design, landscaping....the attention to detail just has to be seen to be believed, words alone cannot do it justice.
As part of our package we had breakfast daily in the Tin Mine restaurant and three dinners. The breakfast blew us away....there is everything you could ever want. Fresh fruit, juice, cereals, yoghurt, hot food, egg chef, breads, pancakes, waffles, even noodles and pastries. Every day we ate until our bellies hurt! This is not the place to go on a diet. Our routine was to go to the gym early for a workout, then have brekky - no need for lunch, but if you need a snack there is fresh fruit delivered daily to the rooms.
The pools are spectacular, there are three to choose from. They are the best place to keep cool other than your room where the aircon was a blessing.
The beach is nice and a short walk away. I think only the poms and locals swim there, the pools are the better option. The local restaurants we ate at and recommend were Mamma Mia's and Batik, the latter located at the far end of the beach (turn left when you exit the resort) just whe you think there is nothing more, walk another 100m. the beach restaurants are the perfect place to watch the sun sink into the sea, planes rise into the sky and watch the local dogs play on the beach. Meals are around 60 - 150 baht, which is approx. $2-6 AUD.
Note to fellow travellers: we were really surprised y the number of families at the resort. Let me be very clear about this - no kid under the age of 10 is going to appreciate this place, and kids over that age are going to get real bored real quick!! We watched as parents pulled prams up flights of stairs, as they juggled hot and grumpy kids while they tried to eat their 5 star meals and it didn't look like they were having much fun. This is really a great place for couples and older people as there is not much going on around this area, families are better off going to Patong or other beaches where there is more action. We have nothing against kids - we have 5 between us!! I just don't think this is a 'family resort'.
There are four computers for internet access and a great library. We noted a review where someone thought the staff not very friendly.....absolute rubbish! The staff here are just wonderful, exceptional people. Hospitality staff in Australia could learn a hell of a lot from the Thai people. Nothing was too much trouble...even when I asked at reception about the wonderful chocolate cake, the staff member told me her boyfriend was the patisserie chef and called him up to make it again especially for us that evening, and it was brought to our table after dinner. Magic!
Some other reviewers also have criticised the rooms, ie bathroom and lighting. Look if you live in an old-fashioned house where the toilet is in a separate room you may have issue with the open bathroom. We thought it was the best bathroom we ever saw! We could shower while looking at palms, there was even a phone next to the toilet (!!!) Honestly if you can't stretch your imagination to accept that a 5 star room can have a rustic raw concrete shower and recycled timber feature wall then I'm sure there are many other more mainstream resorts for you.
There is not much in the way of shopping at Nai Yang Beach, a couple of clothing shops, very limited range although good value and quality knock-off t-shirts! For shopping head to Central Festival or Phuket Town. Nai Yang is along way from Patong and costs a lot in a taxi. You can walk north to the next beach and sit and watch the planes take off over your head.
We were surprised also by the amount of English and French people, and also that we seemed to be the only non-smokers at the resort. We found it quite annoying to have someone smoking while relaxing by the pool or even at the restaurants along the beach. We ate at Octopus one night and sat inside thinking this was non-smoking as there were no ash trays on the tables. However we were disgusted when a French woman lit up at the next table while we were eating....very poor manners and we left in disgust, told the owner we would not return! On another sour note, not in any way a black mark on the resort....women who sunbathe topless! Clearly they have not read that this is very offensive in Thailand and against the law, but we watched as a cafe staff member had to speak to a brazen topless woman by the pool regarding a bill, and the poor girl did not know where to look, we felt so bad for her yet this woman was at the family pool and completely oblivious to the offence she was causing. Very poor form!
Tip for the thrifty.....put your complimentary bottled water in your minibar fridge and take it to dinner with you at the resort restaurants, even a soft drink will set you back 90 baht plus tax (10% and 7%) so ends up around a $4 drink. We couldn't afford to drink alcohol at the resort but you can buy cheap drinks at 7 Eleven. Anyway we were eating so much it probably did our bodies good to have a break from alcohol! The staff even insist on pouring your bottled water for you so take your own and you will save a bit!
Overall this place is incredible and we are already planning to return next year. Just leave the kids at home and enjoy the experience.

Stayed for 10 days with a large group of friends and family. The Indigo pearl exceeded everyones expectations. The decor worked really well, and did not come across as contrived, which had been a fear when booking.
The breakfasts were outstanding, pretty much anything you could want, made to order. The other restaurants were very impressive, both in food, and in decor. The cost was a little pricey for Thailand, but no more that we would expect to pay in Australia (except for the wine - we stuck to cocktails and beer)
Mostly we ate on the beach, where there are many little restaurants that are incredibly cheap with good food.
Loved the adult only pool, with swim up bar, we ate there at lunch alot, the wagyu burger was a firm favourite among our group. We did use the other pools also and found them all to be very clean. Staff very attentive, bringing cold towels, water and melon.
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a garden pavillion room, which was huge! Great design, outdoor bath, daybed and loungers. Our friends stayed in Kelly quarters, Pearl rooms, and plantation villas. All were very impressed, only complaint being the lack of storage space - not so in our room or Pearl beds.
Tanny, our co ordinator was fabulous, she arranged a tennis tournament complete with Pimms, and helped with organisation of stag/hen dos for myself and my (now) husband.
The gym was well equipped and staffed. Did a yoga class, pretty advanced.
Great location, 5 min transfer to airport but no noise from planes.. Not nightlife like in Patong, but plenty of little bars on the beach if you don't want to drink in the hotel, was plenty for us, and we were a young group.
Used the spa and salon, scrubs and massages were great, very sweet staff.
The staff in general were very helpful and friendly. I would most definately recommend this hotel.

Indigo Pearl is THE place to stay when you need to relaxe , get away from daily stress and let people take care of you like your mum always did. Perfect service starts at reception when you arrive, high quality of restaurants (decoration, service , food) . Time flew and regretted to go home after 1 week spent . Don't hesitate to try the little restaurants and massage at the beach.
Even close to the airport, you do not hear any planes.

Lovely hotel although restaraunts/bars in hotel very pricy. Ate out on beach every night, loved Ban raa tree, Mama mia, Lindas seafood & Lee's pizza. Fab massage in open air massage site. Little local shop near hotel entrance was very useful for stocking our beer fridge! The sunsets were amazing. Infinity pool was our favourite, found adult pool to be unclean. Breakfasts were ideal. Good dive centre, very well organised, booked a Similan trip & it was fab. Leave air con on in room all the time. Gym was adequate.

This Bill Bensley designed hotel is awesome to look at and the location is perfect if you want to experience Phuket as it was 20 years ago. The best thing was that we felt like we were the only people in the hotel most of the time. All three swimming pools are beautifully presented and we enjoyed the fact that there were 2 adult pools (only because we didn't stay in a pool villa - maybe next time). The Black Ginger restuarant is Thai at its best, and the ambience of all the bars and restuarants is made really special with clever lighting, good service and great design, and what a breakfast!! Service, in all respects is impeccable and the smiles contagious. The beach club is friendly and easy, and the partly protected beach (they have sea turtles nesting) is lovely. I would rate Indigo Pearl as one of my favourite places to stay in the world!

We have just come back from 8 days at Indigo Pearl & what a wonderful hotel. The attention to detail of the design of the hotel has been so well thought out and executed. The resort itself is a little quiet, not great if you want to party all night but plenty of nice beach restaurants, a few bars, gifts shops & plenty of massage parlours!
We stayed in a Plantation Villa, which was wonderful. With it's own gate, sun loungers & an outside bath at the front of the villa, leading in to a large bedroom & amazing bathroom, with an outside shower in the back. The only disadvantage of the room, is that there is very little storage, with only one clothes rail & 2 tiny drawers, not much for two people.
The staff were all delightful & only to happy to help. The little touches of iced water, fruit & cold towels brought round to you as you sat by one of the 3 pools or on the beach was just lovely.
Some reviews have said that the hotel is expensive for food, it is in comparison to the beach restaurants, just outside the hotel, which are nice. But was still a lot less than you would pay in the UK for dinner for two. A meal in Black Ginger for starter's, main's , wine cost approx 1800bht (£35) The Rebar was amazing, serving cocktails from 5 -11pm, at only 250bht! With a great DJ. A wonderful place to relax after dinner.
Would defintely reccomend this hotel to anyone & with it only being 10 mins from the airport (150bht in a taxi - £3), the transfer doesn't take hours, and you aren't disturbed at all by the flight path.

My partner and I stayed at Indigo Pearl for two nights prior to flying back to Australia. We found the best rate was given by going direct with the hotel. We stayed in a Pearl Suite, although they were happy to quote rates for all types of rooms, and also show us each, before we decided. The room was fantastic... great attention to detailing, and very spacious. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept in and we loved the massive bath on the balcony.
The staff at Indigo are extremely well trained, and even the ground staff are happy to stop and greet you with a big smile. Check in and out was efficient, and we appreciated the use of free internet in the library. Breakfast was included, and a really pleasurable experience, not just a quick, free meal. We loved the adults only pool, and the DJ playing at the pool bar at sunset was a nice touch.
We have stayed in the North of Phuket before, and I would not hesitate to stay in this area again, as it is quiet, a beautiful national park, and very, very close to the airport. There are enough bars and restaurants to keep things interesting ( for us, anyway ).
One of my great pleasures is researching hotels and resorts for our holiday. That pleasure has now been taken away, as we will return to Indigo Pearl each time we visit Phuket. I highly recommend this resort.
