“A quie, restful resort in Phuket”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012

It was unexpectedly good for our family for 5 days in Phuket! Beautiful and big swimming pool for children. Staff is friendly and give a good recommendation for sight seeing trip.
Our sight seeing trip was 6 hours, Phuket old town, Kao Rung View Point, Chalong temple, Big Budha temple, Promthep cape and end up with Sea Food Dinner on the beach.
Next day we went to one day PP trip by Cruise...pay a little more but so cool in VIP room.
Third day we relaxed in the hotel and enjoyed tranquil and beautiful Naiyang beach.
The next day, the children went to horse riding in Laguna, just 15 min from the hotel and we had a good spa during wait for them at Oasis Spa...This can't be missed! Superb spa in Thailand...

Overall the hotel is nice, not luxury but make you feel at home. Comfy and Relax.

Room Tip: Ocean Pool Access is defintely for family so our children really enjoy the swimming.

be warned there is no lift... the rooms are good (in the hotel bit).. whilst we only stayed overnight, borrow a torch and walk a few hundred yards to the naiyang strip of restaurants.... but be warned the small river ferry stops runing at 10pm, meaning you have to get a taxi back to the hotel , which is annoying..

We stayed at L’Esprit de Naiyang for 5 nights, and we were upgraded from the garden villa to the poolside villa. The first thing we noticed was how much it looks like the photos - it's quite an attractive place, evoking a Thailand waterfront village.

The décor is simple – perhaps too simple for some. But the rooms are very comfortable with two air conditioners. It was very relaxing looking out at the pool, the other villas and the greenery.

Privacy is a bit of an issue when others are walking outside your room or using the pool. There’s a bit of a fishbowl effect, and a curtain between the living area and bedroom would have been nice. We found that the various French doors around the room were not locked properly each time we returned to the room. There is no printed information provided about the area, activities, etc.; only a guide for using the safe. Cleanliness is not perfect, as I noticed that it was dusty under the bed and the windows could use a cleaning.

Another problem arises when your neighbours decide to smoke. If you don’t like smoke, you’re forced to go back inside with the doors closed. Many of the other guests come from countries where heavy smoking is still common. They smoke on the decks, at the restaurant, on the stairs, and on the pathways.

Other reviewers mentioned privacy issues regarding the bathroom, but we didn’t have any. The bathroom is outside, and it gets very hot and uncomfortable. Plus you have to deal with the mosquitoes. If you remember to keep the door closed, they don’t get into the living area. There is an enormous bathtub, which is supposed to say “luxury”, but it’s really just an impracticable water waster.

Taxis to and from the hotel are very expensive by Thai standards. But that’s not the hotel’s fault. The blame rests with the mafia-like taxi monopoly on Phuket.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. The park and beach next door are tranquil and scenic. The “ferry” ride was no problem. I recommend that you tip the fellow once in a while – it’s not a lot to you, but it is to him. Getting back before 8 pm did feel a little restrictive. It’s quite clear from the signage that the forest is part of a National Park. Therefore, streetlights guiding you back to the hotel after dark shouldn’t be expected. I suggest bringing a small flashlight.

There are at least a dozen restaurants and a few convenience stores a short walk away in the beachfront village. The locals there are relaxed and don’t give you the hard sell. There are plenty of taxis there too. I really don’t understand the claims that this hotel is in the “middle of nowhere”. If you’d rather be in the middle of a seething mass of oily westerners, enveloped in traffic noise, and trying to ignore persistent people trying to sell you something, that place they call “Patong” might be a better fit.

The breakfast was probably the worst thing about this hotel. Nothing is made to order, and everything has a low-quality feel to it. The eggs have been sitting out since who-knows-when, the yogurt is cheap, and the coffee is lousy. At these prices (almost $150 US a night) such a poor offering is inexcusable. Top it all off with awful pop music blasting at you and fellow guests who can barely stop smoking long enough to eat.

Most of the staff don’t speak English, but they were pleasant. It was handy to borrow DVD’s from the front desk to watch in the evening.

We did have an odd experience when checking out very early in the morning. The receptionist asked us to wait, then left. We stood there for 5 minutes with the taxi waiting, before we gave up and left. She may have been checking the mini bar, perhaps? We didn’t take anything, and normally we’re just taken on our word.

Nai Yang Beach is a great area to stay on Phuket if you want a relaxing and peaceful stay. But unless you smoke, I would suggest checking other hotels nearby and selecting one with a non-smoking policy. Rating L'Esprit de Naiyang as "average" seems a bit low, but considering the price paid, "very good" would be too generous.

We stay for 4 nights in this boutique hotel. It is just behind the national park.
Not luxury but you will enjoy sea, sun and seafood on the beach. It is good for natue lover!

Room Tip: Select the room from who you are. Ggarden is good for privacy.

Firstly, I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff at L'esprit De Naiyang....our stay was so FUN and enjoyable. My fiance and I decided to stay here for four nights as we did not want to be in the hustle of Patong Beach. We were delighted with our choice and would definitely come back here again. I am an extremely fussy person so I was a bit sceptical at first when we booked but the communication was great, Our emails were responded to in a timely manner and we were always kept in the loop. The only thing I can fault them on is they made an honest mistake by forgetting to pick us up at the airport but when we caught a taxi and asked why they hadnt come they were honestly genuinely sorry and immediately upgraded us to a better suite! I loved the breakfast and the coconut yoghurt, YES- previous reviews are correct about paying a higher price but it was well worth it anyway- the food was so yummy. The staff were great- we actually made good friends with one guy who we are now good friends with! Rooms are different- ours was an outside bathroom- yes common sense if you leave the door open bugs will come in so just keep it close.

On one of the nights my fiance hurt his back and they were more than helpful- they gave us towels and a bucket of ice and asked if we needed anything else. When it came to shopping in Patong they gave us great tips and got us an awesome price for a taxi. We had great peaceful sleeps- two aircons in our rooms- which is great! Nice bath products.
If you are looking for pure relaxation and wanting to experience a different part of Thailand- I would definitely recommend this place- the pricing is definitely great value for what you get!

Room Tip: Go for a garden villa or pool villa

We stayed at this hotel from 07 -12 February 2012
After it had travelled around Thailand for the past 15 years as a backpacker mm and lived in several bungalows, hotels and resort we were delighted to visit the area Nai Yang - we have never been there before.
We wanted a little of the "old" Thai spirit instead of the overcrowded Kata, Karon and Patong.
We bought Lésprite through Hotels.com for a special rate, I'm glad we never had paid full price for this location. The hotel which is apparently á new 4 star lives definitely not up to these stars, situated in a Nature reservat with a funny homemade boat which closes at 20.00 at night.
We talk about Max 2.5 stars
First, the 4 star hotels for a:
Lift to all floors
Satellite TV with international channels. The only English we had was Fashion TV the rest were in Chinese, Japanese or Thai.
Available lights in every room as you move through the dark nature resevat in the evening to come home. It's safety that you think no one who lives in a 4 * hotel should buy one yourself. this is not ok, and there are always flashlights available in the rooms.
A shuttle bus which derive their guests in the city after at 20.00, when you cannot take a row boat. Well you could call the hotel either from his own phone (expensive) or ask one of the restaurants people if they would call the hotel and get boat man down to the boat.
The problem is also that the staff do not understand a word of English, so you should be lucky that it's understood when you have gone through a very dark nature resevat without light.
Otherwise, you can argue with taxi drivers in town who take more than 300 to 400 baht to drive around the city to the hotel. Very stressful when you only have to pay 200 Bath to air the oceans which is more of a double distance away. They do not really know where the hotel is located.
When you eat lunch and dinner then you just overcharged by 17%, which is a hidden tip and tax. That is something you definitely do not expect in á 4 * hotel. Here the price will be inclusive and beverage tax money, Tips I will decide on my own.
Breakfast is very uniform and lacking always fresh fruit and yogurt with is the same day after day. Coffee from a fine machine, that takes time to brew each cup, so your food gets cold.
Plastic chairs without tables on a balcony with a wall that you cannot look over. And had expected nice and delicious balcony furniture, and at least a rack to hang your wet clothes to dry.
No drain to lead water from the balcony upstairs so it ran down with water to us.
The swimming pool at the bar had dirty water and was not cleaned.
Staff at the reception, need á service course and especially English course. They were not the best Thai staff I met during my time.
The staff who were in the buffet, the evening and on the other side was very service minded. They tried to make people stay into something positive and gratifying.
Furthermore, the hotel was not completed - We would not stay there again!
