“Keep it to yourself but this place is great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2009

We were considering the Indigo Pearl but opted for the Dewa and were so pleased that we did. The hotel was only opened in about December last year and consists of two distinct parts with common use of the facilities, a collection of one/two bedroom apaartments and pool villas.

We stayed for six nights in one of the pool villas which was fantastic if you are going to eat out but I understand the appartments also have self catering facilities. The hotel restaurant was good quality but Nai Yang has some superb restaurants if you like eating fresh fish sitting at very simple tables right on the beach.

Service at the hotel was excellent from start to finish and they particularly well handled the transportation to and from the hotel. The hotel is ideally suited for the start or end of a stay being so close to the airport (but far enough not to get any noise). It is about 45 minutes to Patong and Phuket but the hotel does run a free minibus service once a day at midday, which is really handy.

The beach outside of the hotel is a National Park and is absolutely beautiful.

Upon arrival you are made to feel very welcome by the staff as they go through the simple check-in process accompanied with a refreshing drink. The people at Dewa are friendly and helpful, always happy to be of service and really attentive to detail.

The room was great with a fully catered kitchen area which meant that we could cook our own meals as well as dine at their restaurant (which was some of the best food we had on our honeymoon). We also enjoyed room service on a few occasions which was promptly delivered.

The room was well kitted out with two LCD TVs, a DVD player and even WiFi internet!
Air-conditioning in the apartment worked well and was on for a lot of the time. The air-con in the bedroom had a quiet mode which was great for during the night.

Location is great for the airport and for being right next to the beach. We did however feel quite far from the main areas of Phuket when it came to shopping and supermarkets. The plus side to this is that Dewa and Nai Yang felt a lot less touristy than other places on the island!

Overall, Dewa is a great resort and we'd love to go back there again as we had a very relaxing time!

Well, the first PLUS "service" that both myself and my spouse received from Dewa Phuket was through email. Because we wanted to stay in Patong in the initial part of our trip, we tried our luck by emailing Dewa Phuket to ask if it was possible to arrange a pick-up from our hotel in Patong to Nai Yang knowing that Dewa offers free transfer to Patong on Saturdays and Sundays. They agreed to pick us up and it's complimentary. And this email was replied within just one working day, simply amazing.

Van arrived on time at our hotel in Patong and drove us up north to Nai Yang. Driver was decent but didn't speak much English. Not too bothered, we enjoyed our drive along the coast and soon arrive at the hotel lobby. It's not the typical 5-star lobby you may expect but it's simple and nice. We were greeted with 2 glasses of the "purple" juices and check-in was easy. All the details were ready and within minutes, we were shown to our room.

First impression as we entered the room, Wonderful. 2 day beds placed at one side of the garden and a good sized private pool on the other. Right in front of us is the sliding door leading into our room, which was spacious and tastefully designed.
Room was tidy and welcome flowers we placed on the front table and at the open air bath. Also had a welcome card placed on the table from their Resort Manager, Lillian W. Carpenter.

After exploring our room for the next 15 minutes, we realized that the unit allocated for us had limited privacy. We requested for a change and was immediately arranged. We were transferred to another room and settled in the room for the rest of the afternoon.
Enjoyed the private pool, the bath, open air shower, soft and comfy bed and pillows and not forgetting the lcd TV. The plus is reception is extremely good. Picture quality of cable tv is excellent, unlike the 4-star hotel we stayed in Patong.

We spent our evening at the beach. Quality of the water and sand was pretty good but the the beach directly in front of Dewa phuket was too deep (steep and under current strong). We had to walk further down the beach for a dip where the sea seems calmer. There is a stretch of local bars and restaurants, which serves good local food for a fair price (Not as cheap as I thought for a place like this, but affodable for sure).
As the restaurant is located around 800-1000m away and the stretch of road leading back to Dewa was dark, we decided to rent a scooter from this lady called Paew (she operates at one of the shop near the restaurants) for only 250 baht (full 24 hours). Very friendly and helpful, you could probably get some cheap tours from her too. Please check the price first of course!

We started our following morning at the breakfast area with many choices to pick from. You can select from local to american breakfast, well presented and quality was good. Sitting outside the restaurant made the breakfast even better, sunny and windy. We shopped at the in-house mart (they sell beer the same price as 7-11) and later borrowed a couple of DVDs from the reception. One tip, because of mart closes at 6pm (if im not mistaken), there is also an alternative 100m away, a local mart.

Did almost the same thing over on the second day and left the hotel after 2 nights. Overall experience is good. If you are looking for a place to "Ooohhmmm" or relax, it's highly recommended. If you're looking for a place for excitement and activities, Patong is still the place to go. It's too far if you are thinking of travelling from Nai Yang to Patong.
Sidetrack a little, we actually stayed in Burasari at Patong, which we find is also a good choice. Fairly priced and it's in the middle of everything!

Other recommendations - If you would like to sign up for day trips of tours (Eg. Elephant trekking, fishing, ATV etc), please don't buy it online. It is way too expensive. Spend some time surveying and comparing prices between the local booths, they could give you 2/3 or even half the price posted on the internet. Also, the trick is, sign up as many trips as you can with just one person and you'll get yourself a bargain.
We paid 6000 baht for 2 person for
1. An hour of ATV ride
2. An hour of elephant trekking
3. Full day fishing trip
4. VIP tickets to Simon carberet show. You do the math!
Have fun in Phuket! We enjoyed our trip very much and hope you do too!

We absolutely loved our stay at Dewa. I can't recommend it more: great rooms, great service, great location, good food, great price (in low season)!

My boyfriend and I really dislike the crazy resort stips (like Patong), so we were worried that all of Phuket would be like that. Boy, were we wrong! Nai Yang is literally 10 minutes from the airport (you can see the planes take off, but it's not loud at all). It's a sleepy strip of local restaurants, massage parlours, and couple of hotels. Try the little restaurant shacks right on the beach - they all have a point and order English menu even if they don't speak.

Nai Yang is a great stepping off point for other attractions around Phuket, including some of the surrounding islands.

Dewa is set off to one side of Nai Yang, right next to a national park. The resort is NOT physically on the beach. You will have to walk out of the resort and cross a road to get to the beach, but really just a 2 minute walk.

The beach villas are amazing! Your own private "house"/room with a small private pool and outdoor bathroom. The villas all have AC, which is pretty necessary in Thailand. They also have a flat-screen tv and dvd player in case you want to just hang out.

Housekeeping was very good, and they clean your pool every day. There was also good turn down and welcome service - always had ice in the bucket when we got back in the evening. Breakfast was included for us, and was a tasty 3 course extravaganza every morning.

My wife and I booked this hotel as we wanted somewhere away from the crowds of certain areas of Phuket. Nai Yang itself is small but the beach and few restaurants were great.

The Dewa surpassed all my expectations and was a fantastic stay. We had a villa with pool and it was every bit as luxurious as the website made it look which sometimes isn't the case. The villa was great. The pool was a good size and the garden area was enough to sunbathe on the loungers when you didn't fancy the either of the two pools. Furniture and fixtures were of an excellent standard as well and even though the bathroom was outside which was unusual it actually worked well with the rest of the villa and having a shower outside was nice (don't worry you are very secluded from everything).

The staff were great, always saying hello and couldn't do enough to help you. We tried the spa as well which is highly recommended. Food in the hotel was excellent, if not a little pricey.

Overall with the hotel being new everything was immaculate. The cleaning staff were great and even after a shower they were mopping up and cleaning around the pool area to dry it off so nobody would fall, such is the attention to detail at the hotel.

For anyone thinking of a quiet relaxing holiday in Phuket, then this is the place to go. I loved this hotel and everything about it just made me have one the best and relaxing holidays of my life. I cannot recommend the Dewa enough and I'm defiantely going to head back again.

This is one of the best run places in Phuket. This is how Phuket was 20 years ago, but with modern amenities and facilities.

We stayed here for 9 nights from 29th April and felt like we had been away from real life for weeks when we left! Our pool villa was simple but tastefully furnished with one of the most comfortable beds ever encountered in a hotel - and big too! Private pool area is just perfect; quiet and secluded and ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. Staff are most attentive and polite and always willing to help.
There have been various observations in other reviews about the food in the restaurant and from our experience some truth to most of them; there doesn't seem to be any real consistency in the quality of the food but in fairness the Dewa is only recently opened and Lillian ( lovely lady! ) cannot be expected to have everything running at 100% immediately.
The little beach restaurants are great, good quality and very good value but it took us a while to build up the courage to try them, especially in the evening; very unadventurous admittedly but worth it when we did!
The beach itself is lovely; unfortunately as we were visiting at the beginning of the rainy season the winds were fairly strong which did mean a fair amount of rubbish, but this is above the high tide line ( it does get cleared away! ) and leaves plenty of sand to be enjoyed! You can walk for miles along mostly unpopulated sands and watch the fishermen at work....
Because the National Park runs along in front of the hotel, there are no bars or restaurants immediately between the hotel and the beach, nor are there sunloungers on the beach itself but all of these can be found about 100 yards away.
In summary, if you want a hotel that pretty much ticks all the tropical boxes, where you can feel welcomed as one of the family, where you can just relax and be pampered, then the Dewa Phuket has to be at the top of the list.
Enjoy!
