“Peaceful place, great Spa-offers and great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

We stayed at Dewa Phuket in Nai Yang for a week, 14-21 March, and we enjoyed it very much. We had a reservation for an apartment and the apartment was great. Everything you needed: coffee-and teamaking facilities, fridge, kitchenette with equipments and separate bed-room and living-room. I was grateful for the two AC:s as it was very hot, and these two were even quiet so you could use the one in the living-room without being disturbed at night. Only thing we were not so comfortable with was that the balconies had very little privacy, but on the other hand it was to hot during sunlight hours and then it got dark fast, so then the privacy was there. We did instead walk down to the beach (just across the road) and go for a drink watching the sunset On the way back we usually stopped at the hotel bar The Bamboo Bar, there was happy hour every day 1700-1900 and the bartender makes fabulous Pina Coladas ;-)
The villas seemed to have total privacy so next time we go we will try a villa.
The breakfast was great (we do still miss the fresh coconuts that were served every morning....), a small buffet but then you could order hot meals (omelette, eggs, asian breakfast etc) from a meny including cappuccino or espresso (this was included in our room-rate).
The hotel had a very peaceful feeling to it and we enjoyed the newsletter very much that arrived each evening telling about the events tomorrow and even some information about the culture in Thailand.
When we were there the Spa had special-offers for different treatments and my husband and I tried a Dewa Serenity hour (at the same time) that included different sorts of massage (swedish, hawaian, thai) with an oil with a scent of your own choice. Heavenly!
We also found the personnel to be very nice and service-minded, all from the receptionists, waiters, bartender, cleaning-lady and all other we met.
Nai Yang has a great beach, is close to the airport but surprisingly you do not get disturbed by the planes- you can see them as they come closer for landing in the north but that is only entertaining!
A long sandy beach, found it to be very nice in the middle and we had a favourite day-place for sunbeds and lunch which was called POONS (orange chairs) with the white dog Singa.
In about 5-10 min from the hotel you will find lots of restaurants to eat at in the evenings, most of them good for example Savoy and Lindas seafood (Kvantas wasn´t that good).
This is not a place to go and party but if you are looking for a relaxing holiday, close to a beach and many restaurants within walkingdistance Nai Yang Beach is a great alternative.
We also recommend Dewa Phuket for its peaceful, relaxing feeling and friendly personnel.

Room Tip: For total privacy; choose a villa. The apartments are very spacious, bright, modern and fully equipp...

We were invited to stay at Dewa for 3 FREE days with transfer. All we had to do is to get to Phuket and sit through a Timeshare presentation at Anantara resort for a few hours the day after we arrive. So for a free stay, I'd say this resort is quite nice. Clean and complete with amenities (2 pools, free bikes to take around Nai Yang, a small fitness center, a nice little bakery). The room we got was nice and clean, with wifi. The reception staff were friendly, helpful, and competent. The only thing that needed improvement was the breakfast. When you get to the breakfast area, you assume that the buffet was the only breakfast you are entitled to. Just fruit, cereal, bread, some cold cuts. When we asked the server if there are any eggs, she showed us a breakfast menu and said we had to pay if we chose from there. Strangely, the menu had no prices. We told her to ask first how much so we can order eggs. She then returns and says that the breakfast on the menu is free. So if you didn't know, you would think that the breakfast was limited to the buffet. The dishes in the menu were pretty good so it would be sad if you didn't know you were entitled to it. There was also the problem of mix-ups. The staff gets a bit confused about orders between tables despite writing them down. A little more training perhaps? I know our stay was free so I shouldn't complain but I do plan to return to Phuket and it won't be free next time so good service still matters to encourage me to come back right? Anyway, overall, it was a good short stay - I think 3 days was quite sufficient. Oh and be careful with the taxi service they hire to take you to the airport (5mins away). Transfer was included in our stay so it was strange that the driver asked us for 200bht when we got to the airport. We told them to call the hotel to verify - he feigned to call but wasn't really talking on the phone, then after a few seconds, he left. Weird.

Thank you for including your recent stay at Dewa Phuket to the numerous reviews you have done for Tripadvisor. We do apologise for the confusion on your first breakfast morning with our new staff. Breakfast service seems to be the main negative that we are receiving feedback on, and we assure you that yours along with the other reviewers comments are being shared with our Food & Beverage Operation Manager to improve upon. As for the taxi driver for your transfer to the airport, I hope you do not mind but please could you send me an email with your room number, registered name and departure date, in order for me to investigate what had happened. It is not right for the driver to be asking you for cash when the transfer had already been booked and paid for.
Thank you again, and warm regards, Lillian

We stayed 5 nights with a six year old and had a great time. We first went to Nai Yang 15 years ago when there was only the then Pearl Village to stay at - it was half the size it now is as Indigo Pearl - and have watched the beach grow from a few shacks to what is now a much more bustling and busy beach that have nevertheless managed to remain a quiet and laid back place well away from the hedonism of Patong.

Dewa Phuket was chosen as it seemed to offer good value and based on reviews. My expectations were exceeded - we booked a standard suite - it was huge with a large living room, full kitchen, and separate bedroom. Spotlessly clean and well equipped.

Service was charming throughout with staff appearing keen to please and very pleasant. We did not recognise any of the descriptions about rudeness in some other reviews. We did however note some issues at breakfast, mainly due to inadequate attention paid to replenishing items - eg coffee cups kept running out, the coffee urn wasn't refilled, glasses for juice ran out. This happened most days and whilst it's a minor point attention to details like this are what make a great place into an outstanding place.

Can't comment on food as there are many great beach shacks selling excellent food at significantly lower prices so we always ate out other than breakfast which was nice. We particularly liked Phen's restaurant, and Hula restaurant.

Would definitely stay here again, very nice with great staff.

I stayed at this resort for one night during my honeymoon in a private pool villa, while the resort was nice and the pool villa was great. I didn't like the location as it was a bit far away from any attractions, shopping or even dining. When you stay at this hotel your only dining option is the hotel restaurant or room service, which was nice but I like to change. What I didn't like about the room was the "Outdoors bathroom and shower" !!!! I was so scared to go to the toilet in the garden in the middle of the night. The hotel is nice for families traveling with kids to only enjoy the beach activities all day and go to bed early.

Congratulations on your recent marriage and thank you for providing a review for you based on your recent stay with us. We are sorry to read that you were discomforted by our outdoor style bathroom. You may be interested to know that we also have one and two bedroom suites that offers enclosed bathrooms for your future stay. As a small boutique resort, we operate a Terrace Grill restaurant offering grilled meat, seafood and a salad bar buffet. This is open all day from 6.30am to 10.30pm at night. Our Bamboo Bar offers local Thai food, and we do a pasta night every Mondays as well. As Nai Yang Beach itself has beach bars, local seafood, Thai food, Italian as well as French restaurant all within a 5 - 10 minutes beach walk vicinity to our resort, our guests have the option to dine with us on some nights, and support our local community on other nights.
We hope you will indulge us with a return visit on your anniversary or perhaps with your young family in the near future.
Warmest regards, Lillian

My husband and I had a lovely stay in a private pool villa , booked with Kuoni. The villa was very well equipped, very clean and well serviced. The hotel is in a lovely position just across the road from the beach and national park. Free use of the bicycles enabled us to explore the surrounding area. The breakfasts were lovely, part buffet style and a good selection of hot food cooked fresh to order. We also had a lovely BBQ evening, with an extensive choice of meats, fish, salads and vegetables. I took advantage of the special offers at the Spa and on both occasions came back feeling very refreshed and relaxed. We have also stayed at 'Kingsacre speciality lodging' and have really fallen in love with the resort of Nai Yang. It has a lovely beach, still unspoilt with a good choice of quality restaurants so in our opinion ideal for couples, families and groups of friends.

We are glad to read that you have had a wonderful stay with us in the pool villa and enjoyed the facilities we have on offer. Nai Yang beach is indeed one of the very few beaches left on the island that is not overcrowded with sun-loungers and vendors and absence of jet-skis. The local restaurants and bars at Nai Yang also offer excellent choice of local food and there is a sense of community all around too. The century old casuarina trees lining the National Park makes it a very special place to relax and unwind as well. Thank you for sharing your positive review and we hope to welcome you back again in the not too distant future.
Warm wishes, Lillian

My wife, my 5 month old son and I stayed at the Dewa recently and it was excellent. With a 5 month old, we were obviously not wanting to "shake our moves" in the bustling Patong area, so this location was ideal.

Literally 5 minutes from Phuket airport and with no plane noise, this is great if you want a quick getaway without the excessive commute once you've landed.

For people staying here, it should be pointed out that there is a small town less than a 10 minute walk from Dewa, which has some beach bars and restaurants - but you will have to travel maybe 40 minutes to get to Patong or Phuket Town. The hotel does offer a free bus once a day for trips to these places.

We stayed in a one bed villa, which was good value and gave the feel of staying in an private villa, but with the amenities of the hotel at your door step.

The beach was lovely. On any beach, you will occasionally get the stray bottle top, but the sand was fine and soft and the sea warm. There is a slight current, but nothing too worrying.

Whilst in general the staff were smiley, polite and happy to have a chat with you, my only negatives about the hotel are with them.

Firstly, when we arrived at the hotel, there is a relatively steep incline to the reception area. We had 3 pieces of luggage, a baby and a buggy and no one offered to help or even glance down in the direction of the foyer. Only minor, but still a negative.

The other issue was with the breakfast staff. I felt like I was an unwelcome guest in their home. They were ignorant, surly and just plain rude (with the exception of one waiter who was lovely). It was as though they didn't want to be there. Now, I'm not expecting everyone to be "happy daft", but rude is a big negative.

All in all, an excellent hotel with a lot going for it. We would return!

Room Tip: A one bed villa is a good option. Especially if you have kids.

Nothing I have stayed In before came close the the dewa. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the food was amazing, including the breakfast buffet. If you're looking for something romantic or beautiful this place ticks the boxes. The only thing that I could fault with this place Is the location. It will cost you about 800 baht to get into Phuket town or pa tong and 35 min drive via taxi. Where it is has some small shops and restaurants for you. But you will need to travel some distance to get the the main places. Everything was superb there. We had a pool villa which was high walled, treed and very private. Outdoor shower, toliet and basins. If you're aware of the location then you won't be disappointed about anything wit the Dewa.

Thank you very much for your complimentary review. We are happy that we are able to tick all the boxes on your list with the exception of the distance from Patong and Phuket Town. At the moment, we provide once a day complimentary shuttle service to both Phuket Town and Patong, as the cost of taxis in Phuket is extremely high. But we will certainly look into providing additional shuttle service in the near future.
Once again, we appreciate your kind comments and we hope to welcome you back again one day.
