Thanks to my job with an automobile company coupled with my love for travel to unexplored destinations led me to Banjara Camp at Sangla way back in 2009. Yes it’s almost 3 years ago but i wanted my first review on Trip Advisor to be for Banjara Resorts because that’s how special it is.
This was part of my 5 days solo trip to Sangla Valley in May 2009. For Himachal trips, i just love the HPTDC hotels; they have the best location for all their properties. But for Sangla, since there was no good option available, i came across Banjara Resorts
Was a bit hesitant at the beginning since it was not very well known then.... but my positive experience began right from the time i called them for an inquiry. Their representative was very helpful and requested me to just come and experience something different at their resort. And i agreed. Indeed they were right.
Reaching here though is not easy, from Chandigarh the nearest airport, it’s quite a bit of travel (around 15 hours or so ...mind you i am talking about 2009 dunno how the roads are now), and so I had a stopover at another beautiful location Sarahan and then reached this awesome place on day 2.
The location of this resort is most special and one which i clearly remember even today. Its bang in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by mountainous range and the most stunning and icy Bapsa river. The climate was just perfect for May. Cool during the day and chilly by night.
The resort was very beautiful and clean, the staff was extremely helpful and well dressed, and there were even some great books in the common area. The tent they put me in was very well maintained and comfortable.
Since i alone on this trip, it was the perfect setting to spend some quality time with myself. Just sitting next to the river surrounded by mountains and not a single soul around was a dream which i actually managed to experience in reality. (You need to check the photos to connect with what i felt). The evenings were even more beautiful with the sky so clear and lit up with stars.
The next morning I visited Chitkul, around 30 mins drive from this resort and again the whole journey was really nice. Chitkul is the last Indian village with a population of merely 600. The views from Chitkul were simply breathtaking. One can have so much fun communicating with the locals. There is even a dhaba which sported 'The Last Indian Dhaba' board! One can easily spend 3-4 hours here.
Just a 2 day trip to this resort was enough for me to establish a special connect with this place more than many other resorts I have been to; I highly recommend this for solo and couple travelers. It’s one experience you need to plan for soon!
