I just love this place. The food is remarkable. Doesn't need to try too hard to be fabulous, it just is. Everything about this place is bang on, don't ever change a thing!

we went here for lunch, after looking on the website i thought not a big choice, but when we got there you were spoilt for choice it was very very good, food excellent, wine good very wide choice, service was great it wasnt cheap but we had all the trimmings it was well worth it,
ambience great , the only downside a few wasps flying about but they were quickly dealt with and didn,t cause a problem well worth a visit

“Wonderful food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Would love to have this place closer to where I live!
Great setting on the village green. Everything was clean and welcoming.
Excellent service from the staff and the food was heaven - especially the puds! Shared the pud for 2 - should have been pud for 4 there was so much!
The one dining room was laid out for our large group (19) and was perfect. Everyone had a lovely meal - no complaints.
Will have to plan a return visit!

“Lovely pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

This is a lovely old pub in a pretty village and well worth a visit. I would have rated it as excellent but for a couple of small problems. Granted we ate on a busy saturday night but the staff struggled a bit to cope. We waited a long time for a drink and food and they had run out of wine glasses. Also, one of our main courses arrived five minutes after the others so it spoiled things a bit as we had to start before one of our fellow diners to prevent the food going cold. The waiter apologised and said the kitchen had missed the order. To be fair, the food was excellent, the atmosphere and setting lovely and the late main course was deducted from the bill without us having to ask. We will give the place another go as everyone we talk to who has been really rates the place highly and the odd slip-up is forgivable if handled well, which is was.
Must just add, there is a review which mentions someone being asked to move their car, refusing to do so and then refusing to pay the bill which resulted in the Police being called. The car in question was parked so far forward that wheelchair access was being blocked. If the car owner didn't want to move his car before finishing his meal he could have given his keys to one of the staff who would only have needed to let the handbrake off and move the car back a foot or so. This was no reason to refuse to pay the bill. We parked our car in the same spot just as this person was leaving and were able to leave plenty of access room despite having a bigger car.

“Could almost move up here to be closer!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The Crown Inn is one of those places you wished you had on your doorstep - mind you then you wouldn't be enjoying staying in the wonderfully appointed bedrooms! Atmosphere food staff all 5*. Lovely touches in the room such as freshly ground coffee and fresh milk. Wonderfully comfortable bed. Can't recommend it highly enough. I stayed in the Fox and Pheasant room which was large airy and delightful.
