We stayed here on a one night stay travelling on our honeymoon. It was booked some time in advance, and I had a lovely email from the owner before hand. We also booked into eat as well, and advised them it was our honeymoon. Now this is an odd one as I can not fault the place or the food, but on arrival it was neither a friendly, or unfriendly welcome, just odd. We were shown to our room, which was beautiful, and the personal touches were just great. The story of how the couple met, family grew, and how the place came to be was nice, but somehow did not come across in real life. The food was excellent, the wait was perfect in between courses, presentation superb. And at the end of our meal, they came over with a glass of bubbly to celebrate, totally unexpected, and a lovely touch. The staff were great, and the owner did come and check all was ok. Then in the morning the breakfast again first class, I really can not find fault with the accommodation, or the food it is of a truly high standard. Then the oddest thing at the end of the stay, my wife waited at the bar to pay, as the owner was attending to a couple who had obviously come in to arrange an event. Although he saw her there, no acknowledgment was made of her. The member of staff who I had long chats with the night before, and was fantastic came and we paid and had another chat. As we turned to leave, he totally blanked us like we were not there. Now I understand that he was busy in arranging somebody's special day, and devoting his time to that, but a simple thank you goodbye may have been nice. We both got into the car park and were astounded especially in view of such a warm email before hand.
To sum up, perfect accommodation, stunning food and presentation, charming atmosphere in the evening, and yes we would very much go back and stay! the question is would we be allowed, as this is how we felt when we left.
