“great beach location with superb facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We spend 5 nights there after a week on a 3 masts sailing out of Cape Town and round peninsula, It was heaven and so relaxing. Great view and easy access to beach. We stayed in room 2 which was nicely furnished with our terrace near the pool. Great view from dining area and lounge terrrace. Haylee, Jennie,Leo, Farnie and other ladies working at Last Word were all so so friendly and helpful. this was recommended by our agents ToEscapeTo from Hout Bay. Fantastic choice as always when we have let them decide for us.

I spent 3 nights here and they were fantastic! The staff is so nice and hospitable! The food is amazing. They ask you what you'd like to eat for dinner and then go out and get the ingredients to prepare it for you. The views are amazing! Jenny and Hailey go out of their way to make sure that you get to do what ever it is that you want to do in Cape Town. I would definitely return!

My husband and I stayed at The Last Word in Franschoek and then made our way to Long Beach. We could not rave more about the establishment at Franschoek and this one is no different. The view upon entering the premises is breathtaking - literally heaven on your door step. The staff: Haylee, Jen, Leo and Fanie were superb. Friendly yet professional, they made my husband and I not only feel at home but like movie stars at the same time. Nothing was too much for them and they were always at hand for whatever we needed. Our room (suite no 1) was exquisite. A few steps away and you were on the beach which is beautifully kept, clean, white sand and clear blue sea. I am not a beach bunny by any stretch of the imagination and all I can say is "when can I go back". If my husband and I are ever in the need of a local beach holiday again, we will look no further. I only wish there were more of these hotels around... it would make booking to go anywhere that much easier. Thank you to the team for making our stay so wonderful!

Room Tip: We stayed in the executive suite on the first floor. Stunning room, very large but view is obstructe...

A stunning location. A few steps from the white sand, rolling seas and mountain views. We used this as our arrival base for 2 nights. To relax and unwind. We did not want to leave, but the cost of staying peak season meant we had to move on (£500+ a night B&B).

The management, Haylee and all the staff provided a welcoming, happy and attentive without being intrusive service. Perfect.

This being our first trip to South Africa I have nothing to compare the star rating too, against UK, American and European standards. It is nearly 5 star. Lacking in a bit of tlc. The hotel is clean and comfortable, lovely bedding and pillows, we had a suite with beautiful ocean views, and I would definately recommend this.

We would recommend and return. It is a good base to explore and eat out from.

There are few rooms with views such as this, over a superb beach. Be warned, the water is icy and your legs will be numb after a few minutes. A great experience in all aspects with service staff, particularly Joan, Leo and Fanie and their colleagues at the match. We had a couple of dinners whilst there and can really recommend the fresh fish, ordered for the day required from local fishermen. Ably managed by Hayley and Jennifer, they go out of their way to assist in making ones stay a truly memorable experience. Only downside during our stay was a problem with the pool, which they had sorted on the day we left. Have booked to return.

Room Tip: The two rooms upstairs have better views and are totally private, although more expensive.

Thank you very much for your great review and we're so glad you got try try and enjoy the fresh fish dinner. Apologies for the unavoidable issue with the pool, but we assure you it is rectified now and will remain so. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon.

From the mosment we arrived, we felt like this was our home, Jen & Hayley & all the staff made our stay truly memorable, they even put on a birthday dinner for my brother & his family. The views from the balcony are stunning & the breakfast experience with the waves crashing on to the white sand beach & the sun streaming in the huge windows was bliss. Being able to lie in bed & watch the surfers riding the huge breakers is a memorable experience. The whole feel of the place is like a beach shack holiday with all the luxury thrown in. Yes it's not the cheapest place you could stay, but once you have paid, there are no hidden extra's, the bar is fully stocked in the rooms & in the lounge & you just help yourself.... perfect. Nothing was too much trouble, they even managed to find some huge crayfish for dinner one night, right at the begnning of the season. We would thoroughly recommend a few days or more at the Last Word.

Room Tip: For the best experience, specify one of the 2 rooms on the 1st floor for a clear view of the 180 deg...
